Edwards Out -> Fitzpatrick In (1 Viewer)

I feel bad for Edwards. The best "bad" QB in the league (meaning, his team doesn't give him a chance). Keep your eye on this guy if he ever changes teams. Edwards has talent.
I see you haven't watched this new fangled game called foosball much have you?
LOL. Manning/Brees/Brady wouldn't look good in Buffalo. And that's the sad truth. In fact, they wouldn't be startable in FF.That's what Edwards is up against, but yeah, I do believe he's got talent & could surprise somewhere else. I hope he gets that chance at some point.

Colt Brennan would be a great signing for the Bills. His quick release, uncanny accuracy, and fiery leadership would be a tremendous asset to a team that appears directionless. I would love to the see the Bills give Colt a look.

Fitzpatrick went off for like 300 yds and 3 TDs in his first real NFL action when he came in for Bulger in Stl. He followed that up w/ a stinker or two but he showed he can put up some #s.
Game logLots of stinkers in there. The best game he ever played was in his debut, and it was (mostly) downhill from there.
Whoa, after looking at Fitzpatricks career game logs, he instantly qualifies for the other thread "who is the worst starting qb in the nfl". I knew he had some stinkers, but i had no idea how bad he really is. Damn, maybe Spiller can play QB, atleast he would get some touches.

The problem starts with the tackles. Buffalo did their best to shore up the interior for the next 5 years at least with Leveitre and Wood. The fact that they put their faith in a 7th round project coming off of Knee surgery and an aging journeyman at the RT spot is where it starts. Good quarterbacks can hide a teams weakness most of the time. Edwards highlights it! The final straw for me was the last play of the game. 4th and 11, under a minute, all day to throw, and he runs out of bounds for a 2 yard gain. Is someone afraid of screwing up is already putrid stats. Chuck the ####### ball down the field and see what happens. It was already 34-7!!!!!!! Did he have the under or something??????

What a joke of a franchise. Everyone knew that Edwards was on shaky ground, yet the team made NO EFFORT to bring in another quarterback to compete against him.
Who were they going to bring in that would make them even a decent team this year? I like that thye didnt draft Claussen or McCoy or bring in some other average NFL QB via FA or trade. As a Bills fan i am hoping they suck this year, this way we will have a choice of what looks like a stong QB class.
This. Buffalo sucks right now. The quarterbacks all suck, the line sucks, every WR except for Lee Evans sucks, the TEs suck, the D-line sucks, the linebackers suck, the coaches suck, the front office sucks, and the owner sucks. Brining in a journeyman vet at QB was never going to be anywhere near enough even to stop the bleeding, let alone turn things around. Presumably the Bills will have an early pick to use on a QB in April. Really, though, this organization is going to continue to be a joke until Ralph Wilson is no longer with us, sad to say.
I agree with everything that you are saying except for the criticism of Ralph Wilson. Since Bill Polian was promoted to GM in the mid-80s, Wilson has shown a commitment to fielding a competitive team. He opened the checkbook to keep the core Superbowl team together until the late '90s. He opened the checkbook again to bring in guys who were thought to be franchise quarterbacks (Johnson and Bledsoe). He hired a well-respected president/GM (at the time) in Tom Donahoe and green-lighted the hiring of two well-regarded coaching prospects in Gregg Williams and Mike Mularky. Yes, none of those moves panned out, but they were all logical at the time they were made. The return of Levy and the Jauron was a mistake, admittedly, but that was a reaction to ceding too much control to Donahoe. It's too early to judge the Nix/Gailey regime.

It all comes down to the offensive line, which is, well, offensive. They refuse to upgrade it in any real way. I don't know why...is Wilson adamantly against "boring" high draft pics? It ####s everything. They can't protect their mediocre QB's. They have 2, possibly 3 1000yrd backs, but they can't get any yardage because of the line. They can't get the balls to their one legit receiver because he never has enough time to get open. It's always the ####### line, and it has been for at least a decade.
Buddy Nix said they wanted to take Okung or Williams with the first pick, but both were already off the board. The Bills reportedly offered Jason Peters the same contract that the he received from the Eagles, but Peters refused and was insistent on leaving Buffalo (despite Buffalo twice renegotiating his contract to appease him). And they did draft Mike Williams (the OT from Texas) in 2002 who was one of the biggest draft busts in history.

I just don't understand Edwards' regression. As a rookie, he showed remarkable poise in the pocket, a surprising ability to quickly read defenses and handle the blitz and wasn't afraid to make tough throws. Since the second half of the 2008 season, however, he's been the complete opposite... awful pocket presence, a slow release and an inexplicable unwillingness to stretch the field. He has just absolutely sucked.

Coaching did have something to do with it... the Bills were the most predictable team in terms of game planning and adjustments (or lack thereof) that defenses always knew what was coming and when. Maybe that's what really sapped his confidence.

Brohm should start... he'll be awful to but at least he can throw it far. Fitzpatrick throwing in the cold. I laugh at the thought.
Louisville homer who hopes he gets a shot and really, since it appeared to be a close 3 man race for 1st-3rd string throughout camp and the pre season. it makes sense for the Bills to give him a shot. They have quite a bit of history with the other 2 as a starter and they both were terrible. I am not saying Brohm would do better but he certainly couldn't do worse. I think he has more talent than either of the other 2 it is just that he has never caught up to the game speed of the NFL yet. Whether he is the answer (my GUESS is there is no answer currently on the roster) or not can not be determined without him seeing the field.

I honestly believe that Mike Vick is the only QB in the NFL who could become something special for this team behind those tackles. Someone who isnt a stationary target for opposing defenses and someone who would require defenses to really respect his scrambling ability.

Philly might be happy to move him to avoid controversy.

Make a move for him now and maybe he is ready to start for them in week 6.

I think there's 3 main reasons:1). Terrible offense lines ruined him. It's amazing how a terrible offensive line can make a QB jittery and conservative. Look at how much it messed up Carr.2). **** Jauron. Jauron's offense was terrible. I imagine he constantly preached short conservative passes to Edwards. This not only lead to him becoming Captain Checkdown, but made him doubt his own abilities. The lack of any adjustments to defenses certainly didn't help.3). That vicious hit he took that gave him he concussion. He has never been the same since that hit. I think he's afraid of taking another one like that. He's been totally unwilling to stand in and throw downfield since then. It happens in baseball to guys sometimes when they get hit by a pitch. I think the same thing happened to Edwards. And you can't be an effective NFL QB if you're afraid to get hit. Especially behind Buffalo's o-line.All that, and I'm not sure he was ever as good as we thought he was. He just seemed to make better decisions than JP Losman. Not exactly a huge achievement.

The Bills have not had a 300 yard passing game from a QB in 55 games! Detroit's backup just went for 330. Nuff said.
And of those 55 games, 37 were when the leading passer for the Bills had less than 200 yards passing. Of those 37 games, 18 were when the leading passer for the Bills had less than 150 yards passing. Its sad times as a Bills fan. Everyone knows what Fitz can and can't do...I fail to understand why they refuse to let Brohm run with the big boys and see what happens.

Well he certainly was the reason that they benched Flutie for Rob Johnson based on a fluky week 17 performance. He's a joke.

That team was not going to win in the playoffs with Flutie. They barely eeked out a string of wins versus inferior teams during the regular season when Flutie was the starter. People quickly forgot how awful the offense was that year with Flutie. Teams had him figured out and were able to crowd the line of scrimmage knowing that Flutie could not stretch the field.
