Democracy is great until the leader tries to make himself dictator (dissolving Parliament) and rules only with regard to his own party.Democracy is great unless an Islamic is elected.

how did Obama choose sides with Morsi?I love how Obama says he didn't choose side when he totally accepted Morsi. Spineless. And, sadly, it looks like the unrest is providing opportunities for more Christian cleansing. This seems to be one of the big hallmarks of the Arab Spring and its aftermath.
I might just vote for Hillary for entertainment reasons alone. The warmup act is pretty good, but the right is going to completely lose its #### in a few years when Hillary is President.![]()
Yep, I forget...any POTUS who isn't on the side of turning every other nation on the planet into "Mini Me" is an ###-clown.That clown in the White House is always on the wrong side of our foreign policy.
It was difficult to do but he is even worse than that other clown Carter.
Russia and China laugh and snub their noses at us, our "friends" for good reason don't trust us and the Middle East hates every non-decision he makes.
What a joke on us and the world. He makes Bush look good.

You do realize why a large percentage of the world really hates us, right?! It's not for choosing sides, as either side we choose would result in a few billion people hating us. The world hates us because we think we are God's chosen people. That we consume a vastly disproportional share of the world's resources. That the rest of the planet needs to look/act/think/worship/entertain themselves like we do. That we openly condemn civil/human rights violations, environmental pollution, et al...when we have been one of the world's largest offenders/consumers in our nation's history. That we think (who am I kidding...KNOW) we are 3-4 levels higher/better than everyone else. Well, maybe only a level or two better than the British and a few other Europeans.

I'd bet a vast majority of the arm-chair QBs dropping their knowledge on us in this thread have never set foot in the Middle East. Have never been to China or Russia. At least not while wearing a military uniform or on furlough. Probably haven't even spent much/any time in the 'hood/ghetto here in the US! And why would they need to? Because they are part of God's chosen people...and why slum outside of our borders/norms and be negatively impacted by all those billions who aren't as good/smart/put-together as we are...![]()

We've made sections of the world extremely wealthy doing this. That we consume a vastly disproportional share of the world's resources.
Americans are the 1%.That we consume a vastly disproportional share of the world's resources.
You don't think Obama very easily sided with Morsi? Not denounce, but maybe admitted to a wait and see attitude? I think that is pretty much the US policy since the end of the Mubarak regime. Look at the Obama Administrations reaction to the coup. It has not been supportive of Morsi.jamny said:Not denounce, but maybe admitted to a wait and see attitude? Yeah, seems like he took the 2012 elections pretty hard. Time heals all wounds thoughI miss the slightly right, middle of the road jamny
ETA not to mention the DDT ban which resulted in he deaths of million by malaria, mostly in poor countries.FlapJacks said:Not to mention us going to poor, starving countries and telling them that they can't have their industrial revolution because of a belief in man made Global Warming. Our sexually liberated culture and our continuous exporting of that cuture runs counter to thousands of years of most countrys' cultures.
I do too.I miss the slightly right, middle of the road jamny
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/30/world/middleeast/roadside-bomb-injures-egypts-top-prosecutor.html?_r=0Egypt’s Top Prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, Is Killed by Roadside BombCAIRO — Egypt’s top prosecutor died on Monday of wounds he sustained when a powerful bomb detonated next to his car as he was driving to work, state news media reported.
The prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, is the most senior Egyptian official to be killed since insurgents began a wave of violent attacks against the military-backed government nearly two years ago.
At least seven other people, including two bystanders, were hurt in the attack, which incinerated several cars, in a residential area of the capital’s Heliopolis neighborhood.
Gen. Osama Bedeir, the head of Cairo security, said the explosive device was planted in a parked car and detonated by remote control. In September 2013, Egypt’s interior minister at the time, Mohamed Ibrahim, survived a similar attack on his convoy in Cairo.
After the explosion, Egyptian officials initially said that Mr. Barakat’s wounds were not life-threatening, and included lacerations to his face and a dislocated shoulder.
Ahmed Shazly, who witnessed the bombing on Monday, said that Mr. Barakat left for work every morning in a two-car convoy that apparently included an armored vehicle. Residents in the area, including Mr. Shazly’s doorman, were hurt by flying glass, he said.
The insurgency in Egypt gained strength two years ago after the military ousted Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first elected president and a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, and began a sweeping crackdown on his supporters.
Bombings and shootings by militants have killed hundreds of soldiers and members of the security services. More recently, judges and judicial officials have been targeted in what the militant groups have described as retaliation for the prosecutions and convictions of hundreds of Islamists, including the imposition of death sentences.
