Eli getting hitched! (1 Viewer)

Okay, Eli is planning to get married later this month. With all that goes into a major life decision like this, how can this impact his performace (on the field) and his fantasy value this year?

The stress and frustrations often encountered with a wedding could interfere with his conditioning, workouts, playbook and mini-camp performance. Granted, he is not a rookie learning from scratch, but this is a major event in his life and it could have significant implications.....

I have never been an Eli fan, but this could be a big positive for him. It could give him the comfort and peace of mind he needed and allow for more maturity too. Just wanted to share....

The article:

Marriage in the offing for younger Manning

Eli Manning will soon be adding another title: Husband.

The Super Bowl Most Valuable Player quarterback of the NFL champion New York Giants plans to marry his college sweetheart this month, the New York Post reported Saturday.

Abby McGrew's father told the Post that Manning and his daughter would tie the knot this month.

Manning's oldest brother, Cooper, also confirmed to the paper that his brother and McGrew, a Nashville native, were planning to get married.

The Post reported that Manning, 27, and McGrew, 24, who were students together at the University of Mississippi, were recently spotted at the Office of the City Clerk, where marriage licenses are issued.

Manning, younger brother of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, capped an improbable playoff run by the Giants by throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress in New York's 17-14 victory in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots in February.

FWIU...Eli lives quietly outside the City, is rarely seen in public, and never goes out at night. It doesn't sound like he really needs a wife to slow him down or help him mature....I don't see how this will change much, nor does he need much changed.

I agreed with the first two posts, but he really went out on a limb on that third one. :kicksrock:

Is his fiance good at teaching QB's to not throw off their back foot so much?

If not, I don't predict a major impact on his play.

I here Doug Drinen is going pour over QB data from the last 40+ years and compare how they did before marriage and how they did after marriage. We should have our answer soon.

It's his college sweetheart, so I'm not as concerned as if it was him deciding to marry some movie starlet he met three months ago. Eli appears to be pretty centered when it comes to personality and family. Unless she turns into a complete psycho - which I doubt as she has probably had to have passed the Manning family ultra sniff test, I don't think this will have any material effect on him.
