Eli Manning tonight (1 Viewer)

As strange as this sounds for a Tom Coughlin team, Eli's play may force Coughlin into letting him become a virtual carbon copy of his brother. I believe Eli is on the verge of becoming an elite QB.
I know it's cliche, but he is playing with confidence. On that first drive, he forced a pass in to Plax in the middle of the field in double coverage that was an elite pro pass. I don't think he would have had the confidence to attempt that throw at this time last year.
WAYYYYY too early to be making these calls.

Yea he looks pretty good throwing to one WR who is abusing the back up Cbs of Washington. An he still has yet to throw a TD

I've seen him throw at least 4 passes that should have been intercepted, including the one that was intercepted. One of them appeared to be a miscommunication between him and Toomer; not clear if it was Toomer's fault or Eli's fault. Regardless, he's 19/35 right now for 6.2 ypa, with 0 TDs and 1 interception. IMO he has looked just like the old Eli we were used to before last season's playoff run.

Yep. He will have a good game or two but who knows when. I would like my qb to get me more than 11 points.

This is why I think Rodgers is a better fantasy prospect. I think I am going to be kicking myself for not starting him. The Packers throw the ball. They like to throw the ball. They go empty backfield on the 1 yard line. The Giants are a running team and will alwasy be a ball control, grind it out squad while Coughlin is in charge.

As far as source, I don%t have NY Times article or anything, but look at the articles on this site and other. The week 1 projections here have Manning attempting 27 passes (completing 16) and the Giants running 33 times.Rankings have him at 17 (behind Cutler who plays Oaklands top 5 pass defense without Marshall, and Campbell)Dodds From the Gut column talks about the Giants looking to establish the run early and often with Manning essentially managing games. These thoughts have me considering Rodgers over Manning.
Are you going to trust your gut or Dodds? Thats what you have to ask yourself.
I projected Eli at 19-35-214. He got 19-35-216. I apologize for understating his yardage.

You gonna make these posts for the guys you aren't even close on? :thumbup:No, seriously, I was shocked to see Eli so low in the rankings and regardless started him over the much higher ranked Schaub; after the first drive, I was patting myself on the back. Rest of the game, not so much ...Despite a few dodgy passes, I still liked what I saw out of Eli. I think he'll be a great fantasy QB in closer games; but start of the second half in this one, it looked like Coughlin was content to labor forth with a victory of attrition.

I will never doubt again.

Eli never has been a good weekly fantasy qb! It's the offense he plays in, not because he is not capable. He will have his 2 or 3 shoot outs a year that make his owners happy. But with Jacobs and Ward and that D he won't need to pile up stats much. Just be happy he stold Jacobs TD last night! I am not too happy! :(

Owner of Jacobs in 9 leagues and Eli in zero!

Right after Eli threw a 4th pass into the defenses hands, Coughlin smartened up. Seriously though, Eli is going to have some great yardage games and Dodds did a great job projecting yards for this game, but TD/INT separates QBs when it comes to fantasy and Eli still has the poteantial to be a turnover machine.

Oh, I think he had the "confidence" to throw quite a few passes into double coverage in the middle of the field last year...

Coughlin is the reason I passed on Eli.

He is too conservative and has too good a running game available to him. So as is usual, they got up 10-0, their defense was playing well... so it was run... run... run... run... burn clock, etc... those types of games do not give QBs good fantasy stats.

Only the games where the Giants can't run against the other team's defense or they fall behind early will be ones Eli will be able to open it up more.

Last night he did have great chemistry with Burress, albeit, Burress did make some outstanding grabs...
