I really see no upside to a running QB in today's game because of the things that can happen, most are bad and you lose your "usually" most important player to injury. On the flip-side, there is little downside to pocket QBs because if they are a pocket QB they likely fit the general expectation of being tall, big arm, etc, and with the rules today, you can't touch a QB and tee off on them like you could before.
Years ago, the advantage to the running QB was being able to offset the defensive pass rush and move the pocket. QBs were getting knocked out of games on a regular basis back in the day if they couldn't run. But today, who cares? You can't hit them so why bother.
