Eric Kuselias Bold Predictions (1 Viewer)

The Jets are going to double their win total - and would have even without adding Favre
Giants wins the Super Bowl last year but have no chance to win the division this year.
ROY is Jonathan Stewart - unanimous winner. Mentions that CAR drafted him and their team doctor did his surgery.
Most Important Player - Tarvaris Jackson. If he plays well, MIN is best NFC team. If not....
Marvin Lewis - on the hot seat. Will be fired after this season.
Peyton will be OK - draft him in FF like he was never hurt
NO offense will set scoring records and be the #1 scoring offense
Dallas wins a playoff game and could make the Super Bowl
Washington goes from playoff team to last place
If Steven Jackson reports, he has a HUGE year. He's scored every Ram rushing TD since 2005.Something to discuss. Enjoy.

I dont think he went out on a limb much, i can see all of these happening.

I agree with this (it is not that bold a prediction) and it is one of the things that bugs me about the Favre signing -- he could end up getting all of the credit. The Jets may have been 4-12 lst year, but they were 10-6 just one year earlier. Of course, since he IS here, this prediction can't be proven/disproven. ETA- Looking over the list, I agree with others - not a lot of boldness throughout.

Only one I disagree with is Stewart.

He's already behind the 8-ball in terms of making a huge impact - at least this year - with his slow-to-heal injury. For him to unanimously win ROY, it will probably take a serious injury to Deangelo. Not out of the realm of possibility, but not also something to bank on either.

Here are my top 10 bold predictions:

1. New England should repeat as AFC East champions.

2. Adrian Peterson and Ladainian Tomlinson will both run for a lot of yards.

3. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will be the league's two best QBs.

4. The Super Bowl will be played in Florida. I predict Tampa Bay.

5. Someone is going down with a season ending injury.

6. Jon Kitna's team won't win as many games as he predicts.

7. Lane Kiffin is a dead man walking.

8. John Madden will mention Brett Favre at least once this year.

9. Monday Night Football will suck.

10. The football will remain oblong shaped.

Hope I don't end up with too much egg on my face.

Perfect Andy. Well put.

Responses so far are a bit surprising to me as I disagree with most of his predictions...

1. The Jets are going to double their win total - and would have even without adding Favre. This I agree with, though I'm not sure it would've happened w/o Favre

2. Giants wins the Super Bowl last year but have no chance to win the division this year. Silly to say they have no chance to win their division. It's an incredibly tough division, so he's got a good chance at hitting on this one, but it's more luck than Kuselias being brilliant.

3. ROY is Jonathan Stewart - unanimous winner. Mentions that CAR drafted him and their team doctor did his surgery. Doubt this happens. A lot of other guys I like better, and I don't care who did Stewart's surgery.

4. Most Important Player - Tarvaris Jackson. If he plays well, MIN is best NFC team. If not.... This is probably true, but as has been pointed out, he didn't really go out on a limb with this...

5. Marvin Lewis - on the hot seat. Will be fired after this season. If the Bengals win, Lewis will not be fired. (that's my BOLD prediction  )

6. Peyton will be OK - draft him in FF like he was never hurt. Agree with this one

7. NO offense will set scoring records and be the #1 scoring offense. Totally disagree with this one. They may be better, but Colts and Patriots will be better than Saints this year, and that's just right off the top of my head

8. Dallas wins a playoff game and could make the Super Bowl. See #4

9. Washington goes from playoff team to last place. Will not happen. Washingotn will be much improved this year

10. If Steven Jackson reports, he has a HUGE year. He's scored every Ram rushing TD since 2005. Disagree here too. Even if he reports, he will have missed a good portion of training camp (could be out of shape, will be prone to hamstring and other issues early on), plus the Rams offensive line and receivers are pretty pathetic which will make it tough for Jackson to do much when he does show up. I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if SJax doesn't even finish in the top-10 FF RBs this year...

I keep hearing this as a reason to assume that Stewart's health will be A-OK this season.People don't seem to realize that doctors are arrogant and ego-centric just like everyone else. His doctor, like most surgeons, probably believes that he can cure scurvy with a scalpel. I really like Stewart but I would not see it as an advantage to have his surgeon on the teams staff.

I'm a big Washington homer, but I've already conceded that you'd have to project them as the last place team in the division going into the season given their changes versus the rest of the division's changes. Now, this isn't last place like you'd talk about with a rebuilding team like your Dolphins, but rather I think last place in the NFC East means 7-9 or 8-8 and maybe even 2 intradivision wins. Those teams beat up on each other, and no intradivision matchup is a guaranteed win for any team. That said, the Jason Taylor acquisition may end up being huge, and I'm loving what I'm seeing so far of Zorn and the offense in the preseason. I have hopes that they can do better than last place.

I agree with quite a few of these, but I struggle to see where most of them are bold. I've bolded the ones I think are legitimately controversial and/or represent minority opinions. :ptts:

Well done, now those are some bold predictions!

Prett sure the Giants would be Ok w/ being a wild card again this year and winning it all. Not sure they care about winning the division.

Actually, I think Kuselias was needling Dallas with that one given that for all the hoopla, they haven't won a playoff game in a dozen years.

Giants are +485 to win the NFCE. Philly is at +400. That's more than just luck at close to 5-1.

Jonathan Stewart has YET to practice, still bothered by that toe surgery. Things like toe/foot injuries tend to linger, esp with RB's.Marvin Lewis is on the hot seat?! no..no way! how did he get that juicy tidbit of info! :lmao: you'd have to be living on another planet to think Lewis' job is safe if they don't go to the post-season.

N.O. offense is going to outscore and out-pace Tom Brady and the 2007 Patriots?!?! :lmao: :lmao:

Washington is actually better off this season than they were last season, they have a better looking passing offense, and everyone is healthy now, including Jason Campbell..this could be a 10-6 year for Washington.

"Giants don't have a chance to win the division this season? " Are the Eagles going step up? nope, the Giants own them..Washington is better but the Giants beat them as well..

Dallas is probably the best team in the NFC East, they *should* win the division, but to summarily dismiss the

Giants is ridiculous..( sounds to me like Eric is an Eagles fan! :hophead: )

I think Kuselias is a Philly guy IIRC. Like I said above, the "bold" prediction that Dallas would win a playoff game came across to me as needling and sarcasm more than anything given that the Cowboys have not won a playoff game in a dozen years.

Pff, i'll go one step further. The Giants won't even make the playoffs. You heard it here first.
Indianapolis won the Super Bowl last year, but I agree that the Giants won't make the playoffs this season. I don't see Stewart being OROY either.

To me, that division is totally up for grabs this year...Wouldn't surprise me at all if any one of them won it...

Based on those odds, I'm guessing Dallas is around -200 and Washington at +800?

If that's the case, I'd say Washington is very good value. And Philly and Giants are about right -- very marginal value (4 teams with roughly equal chances == +400 each).

You won't find me betting on Dallas to win the East this year :hophead:

ETA: FTR, I live in the Washington area and generally can't stand the Redskins and have predicted them to do horribly in years' past. This is the 1st (and only that I can recall) year that I've thought they would do well. I think their defense is underrated right now, and I think Jim Zorn could be in the running for coach of the year. The offensive line is healthy this year too which it wasn't last year. I could see 10-6 from the Redskins easily, and in that tough division, that might be enough to win it...

N.O. offense is going to outscore and out-pace Tom Brady and the 2007 Patriots?!?! ;)
I think it's definitely possible. The Patriots had a season for the ages on the offensive side of the ball - they could very well regress towards the pack and eclipsed by a few teams.

That's not what he's saying. The prediction was NO will break scoring records. Do you think it's possible that NO's will break the Patriots scoring records of last year?

My bad - I read the original post wrong. Yeah, I can't see them getting close to the Pats' records of last year.

My bold predictions

1. Denver Broncos will be 1-6 at their bye week (8) and Mike Shanahan will be removed as coach

2. Matt Forte will lead all rookies in total yards this season

3. Calvin Johnson will have 1,500 total yards and 10 TD's

4. Brett Favre will get injured

5. The Buffalo Bills will be in the top 10 in offense in the league in 2008

Bold

1. Confident, assertive; 2. adventurous, brave, ...

I'm guessing he meant bold in the first sense, because these are not close to brave.

I agree noone will set any scoring records, but someone will definitely have to be the best scoring of the year.
