Ernest Wilford (1 Viewer)

Even in a very best case scenario I don't see either Henne or Beck (or McCown) putting up any type of numbers that will make a WR valuable. Add in the fact that Wilford has never had more than 45 receptions or 700 yards and I just don't see him being a viable fantasy WR this year.

I agree the QB situation is quite underwhelming. However, I haven't been a fan of Del Rio's WRs. I wonder if they wouldn't be better off in another system. (northcutt aside)

If anyone is going to step up there, it will probably be Ted Ginn or Derek Hagan.

I'm not sure Miami has a true WR1 on its roster right now.

Thoughts?

Sure seems like he's got the opportunity to succeed in 08
He's had the same opportunity the last 2-3 years at jacksonville. No thanks
I don't think he has a similar opportunity in that I think he's a lock to start. If I use your 3 year window, he didn't start in 14 of those games-nearly a season. I don't want to play games with the numbers to poorly emphasize just trying to point out he seems to be a clear cut starter vs not. Oddly enough he has the same # of targets each year at 74.

I looked up a handful of starting WRs and they had around 125-140 targets, that's a significant amount less.

Seems like more of an opportunity to me.

Again, I agree the QB spot is underwhelming, just curious if anyone thinks he'll be productive(enough for FF) with more opportunity.

I used to say that. I think I lost hope for him. Are you near that point?
Yea. It's now or never for Hagan. The fact that the Dolphins didn't draft anyone could be viewed as a slight display of faith in him, but I've read only bad news about him since his arrival in Miami. He has an opportunity this season to get on the field and make some plays. If he doesn't show something, he'll probably be out of the league next year.

The fact that he didn't start those games shouldn't give you hope. If Wilford had any special talent he would have rose above the crap that was the Jacksonville WR corp over the last 3 years (excluding Jimmy Smith). Last year Wilford started the whole season and had a better QB than what he will get in Miami, and he put up insignificant FF numbers. I see no reason to roster him except in the deepest of leagues.

Possession receiver/red zone target with potential to go WR2 if either Ginn or Hagan doesn't step up

that's a fair argumentI want to say well he was battling two first round picks, they wanted to see what they could do etc. but, I am leery I'm at the point where I'm making excuses/reasons Wilford will be better.

Technically they didn't, but they did sign 5 UDFA WRs including Davone Bess. Miami gave Wilford a $6Million signing bonus. They are rolling with him as their #1 WR. I think he is worth a flier.

I tend not to agree to this entirely, as Wilford was likely not on the field anywhere near as much as he will be in MIA and also was asked to do different things in JAX.MIA has fewer receiving options and Wilford is now a starter and could be there top option (scary enough as that might be). In JAX, Wilford had to compete with the likes of Jimmy Smith, Reggie Williams, Dennis Northcutt, Matt Jones, and Troy Edwards. I don't see anyone on the MIA roster with much experience, so I would consider Wilford to be in a much better situation than in prior seasons. We could debate whether rostering a MIA WR is worth anything fantasywise, but he should have more utility than in season's past especially in larger and deeper fantasy leagues.

Probable starter for the worst team in the league with McCown or a green as grass QB at the helm. Pass.
