Henry could be expendable in Denver

The Broncos' interest in running backs Shaun Alexander and Dominic Rhodes remains in the preliminary stages, according to sources(is this like mystery meat?) close to the situation. Denver could bring in either player for a visit, but it isn't focusing on either player at this point.

If Denver were to bring in a veteran running back, the team would likely have to part ways with veteran Travis Henry. There is likely little chance Denver would hold onto Henry and bring in another veteran. The Broncos also like second-year player Selvin Young and fifth-round pick Ryan Torain(they drafted him, of course they like him...how's that LisFranc?). So, if a veteran like Alexander or Rhodes comes in -- and it doesn't seem close to happening at this point  :lmao:  -- it may be the end of a rocky, short era in Denver for Henry. His contract was chopped to about $1 million this season with incentives after a 2007 season which was disrupted by a drug case and injuries.

Henry ended up averting a one-year drug suspension by winning an appeal, but he was a distraction to the Broncos. If the Broncos decide they don't want to deal with him again, perhaps Alexander or Rhodes could be brought in.

Just pathetic...the whole thing is like a fictional novel. He uses the right words so it doesn't sound like an absolute done deal but this is pretty awfull journalism IMO.

He should of started the article by saying..."if I ran the Broncos here's what I would do" because the whole thing appears to be pure speculation on his part.

So Henry fought the suspension, was backed up by Shanahan, was vindicated, took a pay cut, but they're gonna bounce him/

Help me out Broncos fans, is he the guy or not?

I agree it is sloppy jouranlism but it did serve to remind me of something that has been true in FF for years: "Avoid the Denver RB situation!"

isnt this assumed for any blog?
I'm not sure what the current blogging rules are. I know Mike Reiss does one for the Patriots and it's based on fact. The only time he goes off on his own is when he does his mailbag and he's answering questions but it's known that he's merly giving his opinion.

The guy is just giving his opinion on what would happen if Denver signed another vertern RB and why they might.

There is nothing wrong with this.

If they bring in some other vet RBs maybe (not saying they are or aren't), there is a chance that maybe other RBs might be somewhat cut perhaps.

If this was a piece from some fresh faced college kid I'd cut them some slack. ESPN has shown I should no longer hold them to a higher standard but I still do.

Terrible piece. He probably had to turn SOMETHING in so he made up that piece of trash. I'd rather have no news that worthless dribble such as that. At least write in MASSIVE LETTERS it's only an opinion.

When I see a blog from an ESPN/FBG/etc., I expect it to have a bit more insider information or at least a good perspective on things.

Just found another Williamson article:

Gisele Bundchen's interest in Dexter Manley remains in the preliminary stages. She could leave Tom Brady to hook up with that little piece of heaven that is Dexter Manley, but she isn't focusing on that at this point . Right now it doesn't seem close to happening. If Gisele does decide to dump Brady to get with Dexter, perhaps Brady will bring in another supermodel or actress.

Hardly surprising. The only thing Burger Bill could commit to is a whopper...and only a triple.

One of the guys on NFL radio was talking about Henry getting cut. He did not make it clear if it was his opinion or if he had solid info

Is Torrain really that good? He was a 6th rounder(TD I know), but I have read up on this guy and he coming off a LisFranc and he wasn't exactly tearing it up completely in college either. I don't see how tey can cut Henry who they don't have huge money wrapped up in. Selvin Young? Story doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me.

I definately think he could be cut. At his age, he shouldnt be failing drug tests. He should have been suspended for a year. If he had been, what would be your thoughts then? Probably a lot different. We'll see if his name is on this year's pre-season suspension list. If he stays off that list and stays in Denver, he's going to be a fantasy steal. Those are two big ifs though. I'm not betting on him.

Torrain was taken with the fourth pick in the 5th round.

All this phony anti-Henry nonsense just makes him a huge value pick in early drafts. He's being taken around RB30 now, but I would bet he'll be around RB20 by mid-August.
