ESPN Fantasy Football Show (1 Viewer)

L.J. Smith...

THEN Shockey.

Fantabulous.

Not as good as Jaworski insisting he gets the kicker as part of the D/ST, but close.
For this, I think they do...that's why no other kickers were taken...
Well, that might be true...But they said they used ESPN's rules...and they certainly don't include that.

the trainwreck is over.My favorites have to be Warner in whatever round he went, Portis lasting until the 4th, and JJ lasting until the 6th

Steve Young is awesome, he's just killing people on their picks, high comedy stuff here. Asked Jaws after he picked the Eagle D if he wasn't going to get any free cheestakes in Philly anymore if he hadn't picked them. :P He's definitely frustrated with the lack of understanding of FF by some of the other "owners". Bakay got him pretty good for picking his buddy Vick, though, another left-handed running QB.They have got to rerun this for all who can't catch it the first time, it's maddening, hilarious, head-scratching, and embarassing all at once. Good times, good times...

This expert says Vick hasn't finished in the top 10 in his position yet but in 2002 he was #3/#4 at QB.

The fantasy geek just said that Vick hasn't ever been a top 10 fantasy QB in his career.Did he just start playing last year or something? At least the amateurs have an excuse, but they shoulda got a better fantasy geek who has actually been playing for over a year.

did you hear?

according to steve young, cedric benson is hurt....wtf
See ... not taking this seriously. If Young's going to take Benson, at least use it as an opportunity to warn newbie viewers of his current status with the Bears.I'd rather see a bunch of C-list celebs like Bakay and Lachey who'd at least put up an effort. The way it's going now, it's nothing but one missed informational opportunity after another.

Berman justsaid they'd be adding kickers later, so Jaws is a moron...
Most of those guys didn't do even minimal prep. Pretty dam sad to get owned by Nick Lachey, who I believe at least read over the league rules.

We have a new idiot in the lead. Schlereth for not mentioning Kolber's as worst team.
C'mon ... you know they all want to hit that. Heck, at least Joe Namath was straight up about it.

All i can say is i hope the owners in my league watched that, and will agree with the "experts/hall of famers"... that julius jones should go in the 4th, vick in the 2nd etc... jaws has both of his rb and both of his wr on the same bye week.. :lmao:

Well....maybe. Depends upon scoring rules.
I once played in a league in which QB rushing was just tacked on to the passing yds, and all TDs -- rush, pass, and recv -- were three points.Vick was OK, but no world-beater.

LMAO :lmao: Nice! Suzy set women playing FFL back about 20 yrs tonight. Damn, even Mr. Jessica Simpson kicked her ###--

I did hear on WSCR that Benson himself was in Chitown today talking with Angelo. Take it for what it is worth, they didn't say that he was going to sign but who know what wll happen.

That's cool -- but Young needs to say that on the air to give viewers useful info.If Young doesn't know, someone else on the show -- at least the fantasy "expert" -- needs pass on the 411.

Mark Schlereth is the only one who seems like he has half a clue.
He had a little inside help ;) He is a FBG's subscriber after all, and does lurk in the Shark Pool from time to time. When he told me about the run down of owners I knew that he would outdraft them all. Way to go Stink!

For any Canadian FBG's that didn't get to see this and want a good laff ...it's on TSN at 12.00 Midnight Eastern. After reading this .... I wouldn't miss it for the world!

he was just commenting on the picks...

What ESPN should have done was to model this draft after the Bravo channel's "Celebrity Poker Tournament."ESPN should have hired real FF experts to give real-time critiques about these horrific picks. Seeing the horrendous CBS FF special last week, Fox's pathetic weekly FF show, and this ESPN show is evidence of how far behind the networks are. Hard to believe that major TV sports networks have no clue about this hobby. It's quite pathetic.

Now THIS is comedy!

As corny as everyone is (ala Nick Lache')

They are giving out/telling some very good advice. Average Joes across the country are watching this thing and getting some good advice. *sigh*

Its becoming too commercial, guys that study study study are not as far ahead as they used to be in the past.

Its becoming too commercial. With the pink fantasy football girls and two fantasy football shows on cable tv this year. Now you go to the store and their are 467 different fantasy football mags to pick from.

I dont know, am I just paranoid?

I dont like fantasy football getting all this spotlight. (Kinda like poker. Averagge players now can go anywhere and everywheer for good advice)

 :goodposting: I don't necessarily mind the ex-NFL guys giving insight based on their playing experiences (hypothetical example: Michael Irvin opining that the TO--McNabb tiff is not as bad as armchair fans think, because between the white lines, it's all business) -- so long as such info is relevant to fantasy football.

However, there was not enough knowledgable meta-commentary on the draft. Some kind of a knowledgeable presence was needed to put the picks in context. Don't let Suzy get away with a weak argument for picking a D in the fourth round. Have a commentator on hand to challenge her, and demonstrate how D/ST value doesn't plummet so fast that an early pick is justifiable. That ESPN fantasy expert Eric Carabell (sp?) could have served this role ... but he barely had any face time.

If this was a draft of all FF "experts" (e.g. televising the FanEx draft live with quick time limits), of course, the commentary could have come from the same folks making the picks. But when most all the drafters are novices, it makes no sense for the drafters to be doing the commentary, too

.

Thank god I tivo'd it, I skipped through some of the bad picks. Suzy was horrible. I gave up about 3/4 way through it. I agree with the other poster, getting too mainstream. I would love to see a real fantasy football tv show like on NFL network or something.I want my hour of my life back.

Clearly for all of us it was just for entertainment value. Newbies, though, could've picked up some decent tips from Schlereth and Karabel.Ironic that the two owners who sounded like they have a clue about the game were the only two that didn't play football -- Bakay and Lechey. And did Steve Young miss the make up call? He looked like an old man... He did some decent trash talking though.

The rosters were supposed to be on ESPN's website. When I went and looked, I couldn't find them.
Perhaps the segment of ESPN's staff that actually plays FF saw the final rosters and laughed so hard that the site managers decided not to list the rosters.
