Excessive Force?

They should have a law that citizens need to stay at least 20 feet back from an Officer that's handling a situation. Those people are way too close and are interfering with their ability to do their job.
I agree with this also.   Look at all the videos online where people stand around and do nothing while someone is getting the hell beat out of them.   Total BS and should be at least cited.

Why do two cops need citizen help when they are trying to arrest a 16 year old? I don't really have a problem with the blows to the head - only thing I question is was that the best method to get the dude to release his grasp on the other cop? Feel like a choke hold or a few shots to the ribs or maybe a figure four would be better moves

Most Departments now prohibit chokes due to some unfortunate incidents.

I live in NY and still have not heard anything about this incident outside of this thread.
Looks like there's been a NY Post article and not a whole lot more. This incident is not capturing the nation's attention as yet.

I think at least 95 out of 100 viewers, given the scenario, pretty much side with the officers. Police work is often dirty, nasty work -- I don't think all that many people, regardless of politics, have illusions otherwise.

I really don't think many people in here understand what the work excessive means.  I think many are equating excessive to criminal.

more than is necessary, normal, or desirable; immoderate.

Yea, no follow-up, luckily... I had it in my face yesterday morning for a little - looks like the media was trying to make another story, but they realized this wasn't the one (stupid ####### media jerkoffs).

Given the fact that the kid initiated the aggression, it doesn't seem like Mussel Marinara's reaction was all that excessive. He did seem to be pretty heated up though, operating on pure adrenaline.

Should have just punched him in the balls.  That would have stopped him right away.  This isn't a boxing match, they don't have to play by gentleman's rules.

Dr. sues could explain this.  Hop on Cop or a Choke earns a Poke would likely be the title.

Yes I punched him in the head

but I stopped before he's dead.

My partner the perp was choking

so I gave him a thorough poking.

As for that crazy screaming #####

I'd like to punch that stupid witch.

Now a review board I'll have to face

to answer questions about race

Talking heads will second guess me

Urging the Feds to arrest me.

Not surprised some people think this is excessive.

Hell, we had a thread where people said they would allow a female to beat them to a pulp rather than fight back even if it meant they would end up on disability and lose their careers and families.

I think we have a real problem with over-militarization of the police force in America which results in an us-vs-them mentality and excessive force, but this instance is absolutely not an example of it.

Nope. Solid well deserved beat down. If anything, he got off easy. Based on his escapades, he would be a prime candidate for 3 strikes and you are really out in a perfect world.
