Expert ranking accuracy? (1 Viewer)

With all the so called experts lists, rankings and projections out there are there any published reports of who has been the most accurate over the years? Seems like with all the statistics, metrics and time individuals spend analyzing fantasy football data, a list of who has been the most accurate would be the most beneficial.

do a search for FFLibrarian. They publish a report. I don't however know how accurate it is. Might just be some other sites under different names pimping their own services

Yes, FFLibrarian should have something. The trouble is, this changes year to year. As an example, cbssports.com finished first last year overall after not finishing in the top 15 year previous year. Fantazzle was #1 in 2008 and did not finish in the top 15 last year.

I found it more interesting to look at who is consistently in the top 5 in one area. For example, one site might have been in the top 5 every year in their RB rankings. That makes me want to take a look at that sites RB rankings this year to check out their opinion.I'm surprised more analysis is not done on pre-season expert rankings vs how they end up.Maybe I'll do one for fun this year on the top 5 sites or so....My guess is that none are really that close to where things end up and that is likely why we see so little analysis on the subject.

That's the problem, it's all over the board. Further mucking it up is the fact that more and more sites are on board every year with 23 in '08 and 48 last year. It's very competitive and inconsistant. I'm not completely sure, but I think my site is the only one to finish in the top 25% for both '08 (3rd) and '09 (12th). Also, if you're interested in WEEKLY rankings analysis on the experts, FantasyPros put that together last year and plans to do it again this year - http://www.fantasypros.com/I have a hunch it's not really useful until data is gathered for 5+ years.

RE: Fantasy Pros - nice find! I didn't know a study for weekly accuracy existed. I think the yearly stuff that uses preseason rankings are tough to go by. Too many injuries, trades, suspensions - should guys that LOVED Jermichael Finley be punished because he got hurt?
