Tim brings the festive atmosphere to a screeching halt.
What the Hell did I do? It was just a question.
IT was a legit question. I still can't tell if he was read his miranda rights or not. The way the chick explained it was more a definition of what the safety exemption is. Not that it was used.
The issue that needs to be formalized under the law is that for an individual to become a terrorist, he renounces his US citizenship and thus becomes stateless and does not fall within any laws or constitutional protections. It is sort of like an American who decides to become a French citizen. Once he does that, he no longer has the rights of an American citizen. In the case of an American terrorist, when he renounces his citizenship by taking up arms against the US, he is no longer a citizen and has no constitutional rights.Treason is an act of disloyalty or betrayal of trust to a person's own government. Examples include assassination of a state figure, fighting against his or her own nation in a war, assisting enemy combatants, or passing vital government information to the enemy. Historically, this crime has been severely punished, because an act of treason can destroy a nation. In the modern day, a conviction is accompanied at a minimum by a long jail sentence and a heavy fine, and may merit the death penalty under certain circumstances.
I'm all for the traitor route. Just would like some explanation so we know whether he can get lawyered up or if he's an enemy combatant.
He's a U.S. citizen arrested in the United States for a crime committed here. He will go through the federal legal process just like any U.S. citizen in that situation. He won't be labeled an enemy combatant or sent to Guantanamo. There's no reason for the U.S. to use extra-judicial procedures like that when there is no need.

There's no (legitimate) reason to try him as an enemy combatant.

Wow. Suspect #1 was married with a three year old daughter. Looks like his wife (a christian) converted to Islam and they hung out with his wifes family every weekend.

That's really sad. Little girl has a ####### monster for a father. :(
Was thinking the same thing...the mother needs to change their name and try to erase that POS from her memory. No one deserves to be associated with that spineless POS.

What about his brother?

Didn't see this posted earlier - looks like suspect #2 was working out on the UMass campus and went to a party with friends on Wednesday night. Not exactly the activities of someone who just set off some bombs two days earlier.

It appears he became increasingly radicalized by his older brother Tamerlan with whom he is said to have carried out the deadly attack - killing three and injuring more than 180.

His cousin, Zaur, told the Boston Globe that he 'used to warn Dzhokhar that Tamerlan was up to no good' while Tamerlan's boxing coach said the younger brother would watch him train, 'he idolized him', he told the Boston Herald.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the younger one was the U.S. citizen. Older one apparently had problems getting citizenship due to a domestic violence arrest according to the father. Even so, I'm confident the older brother would have been tried in the American judicial system rather than treated as an enemy combatant, even as a non-citizen. There is no reason why the U.S. should circumvent their normal legal system to deal with these guys.

Hopefully he enjoys the broomstick treatment in prison while he waits for his day in the pressure cooker.

White hat became a U.S. citizen on 9/11/12.

Like I posted earlier, I've seen it so many times in my life. Now I see how my younger son will do anything his brother asks of him. Idolizes him. I would make him idolize me but that wouldn't be good either.

Honestly though...what happened to blood hounds? I gotta think they find this guy within a few minutes with a good couple of dogs.

So glad they found him and exactly in the area that they had a perimeter around all night...Boston putting in work!

These two can't honestly believe that all US law enforcement, local and federal, would just never find them, right?

Again, maybe it was naive of them, not realizing there would be a million people taking photographs at the finish line, but I'm sure they just never expected to be caught on camera in a sea of so many people. They didn't have a care in the world.... no disguises.... nothing.

Naive? These guys are/were idiots. At the very least you scrub the serial number off the pressure cooker, stop wearing the same hats, have money to get out of town beforehand etc. Murdering ####### morons.

Pretty ballsy of the guy to peek under the tarp before calling the cops.
Was thinking the same thing. Suspect either was out or too hurt to flee? You gotta think he knew someone was checking it out.
Yeah, I wouldn't have had the balls.
Obviously you don't have what it takes to be a Boat Owner!
Happiest days of being a boat owner, buying your boat and selling your boat.

Arrogant is more like it. They thought they got away clean. Went back to their daily lives because they were so smart and no one will ever find out.
