Fanex Analysis Draft (1 Viewer)

I'm not exactly sure who "Jim Butler" is, but he's going out of his way to assemble the worst fantasy team ever seen.

wow.McGahee at 1.08 seems defensible but LenDale White at 2.05 and drafting 2 QBs (rounds 4 and 5) and 2 TEs (rounds 3 and 6) before taking his first WR in round 7 are bizarro moves. Limas Sweed as WR2 and DeSean Jackson as WR3 make this look like a dynasty draft, but then why take Joey Galloway as WR1?

McGahee isn't defensible when you realize the following: he drafted S-JAX @ 1.05, then traded him.http://football34.myfantasyleague.com/2008...=40520&O=03

Ian Allan gave up Pick 1.08 and Pick 2.05
Jim Butler gave up Steven Jackson and Pick 2.08So he downgrades from Jackson to McGahee in order to move up three spots in round 2.... to grab FatDale!!! :bs:

I agree completely...I didn't look very close at the scoring system but Westy or Addai ahead of Jackson would be hard to do.

I'm sorry to say this because I've always enjoyed following their draft each year, but I think letting a guy this bad into the draft just lowers the credibility of FanEx. Butler drafts like a complete n00b, certainly not like an expert. That draft is indefensible. Through 6 picks he had 2 QBs, 2 TEs, and no WRs?!

Having a website (if that's what it was that supposedly qualified him as an expert) means little to me. I've looked at rankings at various 'expert' websites that I just laugh at. It seems that it wouldn't be all that hard to find 12 actual experts.

They could've called me.

Considering he timed out for the Brees Pick, and hasn't put in any commentary since then, it might mean that he knows how bad he started and bailed. The rest might be autodrafted somehow. Schaub in the 5th can't be a normal pick, can it?

My understanding-not sure if true, never botherred to research it:Global Fantasy Football Leagues was like Unlucky's league site but wwwwwwwway bigger. Tons and tons of leagues and this guy managing all of them. So many leagues it was like "how do you find time to sleep? Are you kidding me?"

IIRC, That site has been around forever too

2.05 Jim Butler (via trade) RB LenDale White

QB: RB: McGahee White WR: TE: PK:

Being able to get another RB that is not in a RB by committee situation was a plus. Last season LenDale became the #1 RB for the Titan s and amassed a total of about 1300 yards. He was injured the entire season yet started every game so things could be better now that his knee is 100%.

Oof.

better like in the Titans drafted another RB in the first round? maybe this guy missed the draft in April.

This is a points per reception league and Butler takes Lendale in Round 2. :excited:

Schaub as the 6th QB off the board in Round 5 :fishy:

I've always enjoyed Fan Ex drafts, but this year it's pointless.

Butler is making Matt Pitzer look like Dodds

maybe TE's get special scoring?!? would be the only reason for him to have cooley and gates... and maybe he can start them both?!

After taking Galloway and 2 rookies as his first three WRs, he takes Glenn:

Health-wise Glenn appears to have fully recovered from his 2007 injury woes. Now if only the Cowboys will let him play ball. I think that all of this current stuff will work itself out and Glenn will be on the field and scoring points. If he returns to his 2006 form, I think he'll have a chance to be a constant, not stellar, but constant point scorer
Butler's final squad:QB: Brees Schaub Rivers RB: McGahee White Duckett BuckhalterWR: Galloway Sweed DJackson Glenn Henderson TE: Gates Cooley Bennett PK: Graham DT: Jaguars Bengals: Eagles:U-G-L-Y

As one of the two people who started FanEx (the other being FootballGuys own Joe Bryant), I have to say I am puzzled by Jim's drafting and trading this year as well.

But he has always been a positive to the group. And I won't belittle his draft until we see how it all plays out.

The FAD is not like a normal league (or draft). Often people pick just to get explosive guys because you don't name a starting roster. All of your players are scored and your final tally is automatically figured as the best possible lineup.

I took a chance on injured players that are returning this year and got burned (already) on my fifth round pick. I had no way of knowing Travis Henry would get cut but now I cannot replace him (because of the unique FAD rules). I can hope he signs on with someone and takes over a starting job sometime before the midpoint of the season though.

The FAD was always designed for one thing - give folks a glimpse into what we think of certain players. Since its beginning it has suffered a bit in my mind. We now are limited in how much analysis we can give for each pick and the fact that it is a scored "league" makes people want to "win" it. Which, because of the unique starting rules, means that it has less significance to the majority of followers.

I don't know that there is a good way to take an unmanaged league and make it realistic. For instance, I would now be picking up a replacement for Henry if I could. But that is what we live with. Fortunately the true FanEx leagues are played with different rules and rosters. Our email draft just started and the live draft will be later in the summer.
