Fantasy League Pro Bowl (1 Viewer)

Our league this year realigned into a 2-conference system. We’d like to incorporate some type of a Pro Bowl game. Any other leagues out there have a Pro Bowl? If so, please list your format. We’ve kicked the idea around for a couple of years but nothing has really materialized.

My thoughts are that the Pro Bowl would happen Week 16, the same week as our championship game.

The previous year’s top team from each conference would be the coach/GM, and have the responsibility of selecting each squad from the players on the teams in their same conference. The coaches can seek input from the other teams of course, but the final call is up to them. All existing scoring and roster rules will remain in place.

We need some kind of a prize, reward or bet to really grab everyone’s interest. In past years, we discussed the losing team buying the beer for the draft. I’d be interested in hearing any ideas on this as well.

I was in a league that had a Pro Bowl the last week of the season. We called it a Pro Bowl but it was more like a free for all were all teams played against each other and the team with the highest score would win the money from all of the transactions through out the season. It usually ended up being around $30-$40 dollars a year.

I am implementing the idea of a pro bowl this year. It will be week 17 since we currently have nothing happening that week. Each division (2 of them) will vote their best players to the pro bowl and the two teams will duke it out. Loser has to arrange and host the post-season party. We have a party fund already so beer/food is already covered.

I did have a question though. Anybody know how I can set this up on MFL. Do I need to create 2 more teams for this? Can I add teams after week 16 is over?

From our By-Laws. 10 Team League. Pro-Bowl takes place in Wk#7 as a mid-season event.

-------------------------

Pro Bowl will take place Wk. #7: AFC -vs- NFC (regular head to head matchups will also occur- this game is just additional for Week # 7)

Honorary Captains are the first place teams of each division after Week # 5

Honorary Captains are responsible for submitting their conference's lineup and will have the final say in who gets to play. Other GMs in each conference are allowed in helping their Captain

Each conferences Pro Bowl lineup must be e-mailed to the Commish, by the honorary captain, by the final lineup submission deadline of 4:00pm on the Friday prior to Week # 7's NFL games.

Payout will go to the winning conference's GMs (no money will be added to the Fantasy Fund)

There will also be an additional payout for the MVP of the winning conference (MVP is highest scorer of WINNING conference. If your player is the highest overall scorer but your conference loses, you are NOT the MVP)

To make the MVP situation fair, one player from each team in the conference must be represented within the top 5 postions- 1QB, 2RB, 3WR

Only 2 max. players can be chosen from one particular GMs team to participate in the Pro Bowl. For GMs that do have 2 players represented- only 1 of those players must be labeled for MVP status. The 5 eligible MVP candidates (1 from each GM- QB, RB or WR) must be labeled when starting lineup is submitted to the Commish

$$$$:

Losing Conference: Each GM is charged an additional $4 to their Fantasy Fund debt (5 GMs= $20 total)

Winning Conf. / No MVP: $3 credited to your Fantasy Fund debt (4 GMs= $12 total)

Winning Conf. + MVP Player: $8 credited to your Fantasy Fund debt (1 GM= $8 total)

** No money will be added to the Fantasy Fund. Pro Bowl is an annual mid season event that will have minimal money payout to the conference winners, but rather it is more about Conference Pride

My league had a set-up kind of like this, but we ditched it. In order to make any cash prize worthwhile, it took up too high a % of the pot, due to it having to be distributed among 6 people. No one really gave a crap about it, so we bagged it.

 I like the MVP and having all teams represented ideas.

week 17

the cash prize is small, but it gives you something to root for during the last week

all teams are represented and the division winner picks the lineup.
