FantasyScore Staff Sunday Cash Plays Week 11 (1 Viewer)

With Week 11 upon us, we’re just about done with bye weeks, but still having to deal with a near-constant stream of injuries. Hopefully we’ll get through this week unscathed as it plays havoc with your lineups and makes all this a wee bit harder.

Of course, that’s half the fun.

Some of the Footballguys.com staff has posted their cash lineups, so I put together some thoughts on them in the hopes that they give you some ideas for this weekend’s action.

Staff Trends

Off-Brand Quarterbacks

With the exception of myself, who trotted out Dancing Cam Newton, all the other staff members went with cheaper options at quarterback. Alex Smith, Mark Sanchez, Matt Hasselbeck and Brock Osweiler all got some love and gave those staff members the flexibility to pump up some other positions. By going with Newton, I ended up having to juggle a little and added San Diego Chargers wide receiver Dontrelle Inman. More on him in a minute.

By going with riskier quarterbacks, but guys with a lot of upside, the staff members who went off-brand loaded up studs at two of the other skill positions—tight end, receiver and running back—and sometimes all three. This week’s FantasyScore Roundtable had this very debate on what to expect from most of the above quarterbacks.

Freeman is back!

Devonta Freeman has been a little shaky the last few games he’s played, but clearly we’re all expecting a bounce back as all of us have him on our roster. You can run on the Colts and we all clearly expect him to do enough damage to be worth the cost.

DAAAAA BEARS

Normally we don’t talk too much defense here, unless it’s in support of some skill position player. But $1400 for a defense which is going up against an unproven quarterback who is behind a so-so offensive line is a great way to save money while also having a chance for a big game.

Glaring Omissions

As usual, the gang faded the main quarterbacks (save for me and Cam). There was a pretty good smattering of studs elsewhere though, as we mentioned above.

Diamonds in the Rough

So Dontrelle Inman—who both myself and Chad Parsons added to our lineup—costs just $2500 and with so many receivers out, could see a bunch of targets. The matchup is tough and there is a fair amount of risk, but it lets up load up elsewhere and with the attention Stevie Johnson and Antonio Gates are going to get, Philip Rivers will give Inman a look.
