Most of what y'all are mentioning didn't really bug me. What does bug me is that Lester isn't getting his ### in gear to leave as soon as he gets back to town.
not sure i follow you...at which point was he in town that he could have left?
Should have gone by the office and gotten his stuff as soon as he got back from Vegas. Go home, pack, and GTFO of the country.

2 things...

1- im assuming he let the car dealer go free ,his car was not in Lesters driveway .

2 - I liked the story about the gloves and the train...im also guessing it meant ''do the right thing'' Lester
I was expecting her story to be a morality or a warning story, but I didn't get it from that. I wasn't sure what the purpose of the story was.

Other than that, I thought it was a great ending.
Yeah. We were lost on her story too. I'm usually always lost on these things, but when my GF said she was perplexed as well, I knew it was odd.
I thought it was a kind of clumsy way to say they were throwing Lester back out as bait. So Malvo was the first glove. Not sure, though.
me too
Allison Tolman tweeted this a little while ago: The line we cut is "it's not a story about a man who loses a glove. It's a story about a man who gives his gloves away".
Sadly, this doesn't help me.

The glove story was in response to Lester saying he was a good person.

Molly: Here's a story about a good person doing something good.

Lester: I don't get it.

Molly: Exactly.

Lester's the kind of dooosh that would curse the universe and say the world is out to get him if he lost a glove. A good person would stop crying over spilled milk and address the problem in a positive way.

I liked Lester being able to solve the riddle in about 5 seconds with the FBI guys, showing his ability to concoct quick lies to ties his stories together and work out of jams. was a nice touch.

And really, Lester could have had a charmed life if he had just let it go in the bar OR the elevator.

Not to say that Malvo wouldn't put the fear into him at various times through his life, but it could have worked out very neatly for Lester with a fairly hot for him anyway.

Its such an old riddle for an episode or two, I thought it was shtick. I did like the guys turducken answer. That was funny.

Lester can’t understand the story because he’s selfish. When we meet him he’s a cuckold wimp who won’t stand up for himself. After Malvo he changes, but new Lester is always self centered and selfish. He’s only out for himself, which is shown in the way he so easily sacrifices his hot asian wife. He isn’t concerned with anyone else after a lifetime of being a walking mat for everyone. He’s had a taste of this new life, and he’s went from one extreme to the other. The point of the story is a man lost a glove, and instead of two people just having one glove, he’d rather he have no glove and someone else have the pair. This is nicely touched on later when Lester so easily answers a riddle which is all about keeping three things for yourself.

Well that would probably explain why I didn't understand it

AV Club debates Fargo vs True Detective: http://www.avclub.com/article/true-detective-or-fargo-which-weird-miniseries-was-205842

Loved both but I liked Fargo a little more, I think. One more scene of TMBE's tasteful muff might've put TD over the edge though.
For me, TD by a mile. I was on the edge of my seat a couple times watching TD. Fargo was great but not near as good as TD. Both were very well constructed shows, so it would be a matter of taste.
Yeah, I was hooked on every episode of TD. I really liked Fargo but don't think it came close.

True Detective was must watch live TV and I'd usually watch each episode twice. I was always a few weeks behind on Fargo and never watched an episode more than once.

Just clicked that link. If you're really going to have a good debate about which show is better, shouldn't the participants think both shows reach a level above "fine" (the woman's take on Fargo)?

The woman cop won a critics choice award last night. No one cares but at least it's some recognition

She did a great job. A complete unknown, stepping in against some top-tier talent in Freeman an Thornton, and she nailed it.

TD was much more intense...Fargo was way more fun

Oh, yes.

- Homicide. (Murder in the second degree? Manslaughter? Legal experts, what's the proper charge here?)

- Providing false testimony in a police statement.

- Fleeing police.

- (Is widow-banging a felony in Minnesota?)

He never actually assisted Malvo at any point in the elevator. He did leave the loaded shotgun where Malvo could find it and use it in the first episode, but, hey, open carry, stand your ground and whatnot.

I loved True Detective but Billy Bob Thornton >>>>>> Woody and Matthew combined.

I triple-dog dare the latter to come back and prove me wrong.

I liked the series as a whole, kindof wierd and leaves a lot of questions.

1. What was the deal with Malvo taping everything?

2. Why did he shot everyone in the elevator?

3. Why was he hellbent on killing lester?

4. What was the deal with the Pastor angle? Did he really set himself up as a reverend?

1. What was the deal with Malvo taping everything? He's a sociopath. Perhaps his get-out-of=jail-free card.

2. Why did he shot everyone in the elevator? His cover was blown.

3. Why was he hellbent on killing lester? He blew his 6 month cover

4. What was the deal with the Pastor angle? Did he really set himself up as a reverend? Yes. The cops believed it.

I missed the part about the 3 year cover. COuld you explain?

I thought he had established himself as a reverend as an alibi for some reason.

Was a 6 month cover as a dentist (my mistake).

His mark was his buddy's (played by Stephen Root) brother was in witness protection.

3 is definitely wrong. He was going to let that go until Lester clocked him in the back of the head with the trophy.

Yep, you're right.

Forgot the sequence there,

one thing the director pounded home about Malvo....he loved to toy with people

My latest thought on the box of cassette tapes...

Those are the "souls" that have been sold to the devil.

Oh snap, I completely missed that he hit him with the award, I just assumed it was a punch. I, now, love how Malvo returned the favor when he broke Lester's nose.

"Hey everybody, come prove to me that my opinion on which one I liked better is wrong."

Sure buddy. I'll get right on that.

Molly: Here's a story about a good person doing something good.

Lester: I don't get it.

Molly: Exactly.
I'm going to start talking in stories and riddles to people and see how it goes.
