Fargo TV series on FX - season 3 starts TONIGHT 4/19!!! (1 Viewer)

Liked it, didn't love it. It was just a little too self-aware this season for my taste.

Most of the acting in 2 was off the charts good. I could spend a week talking about the whole Mike Mulligan arc.

Loved season 1, liked (and was entertained by) season 2 and I'm on board for Season 3.
I don't really even remember half of season 1, it was good not great IMO. Season 2 was nearly perfect TV until the final episode, and more realistically the last 5 minutes when we talked about not including the UFO and the Sheriff creating his own language. Or maybe it flew over my head since they probably could have wrapped it all up in the second to last episode which was terrific.

This explained the FINAL episode very well for me & answered a lot of questions(for me). Sorry if already posted.

Ok, well that wraps it up nicely I guess but I'm not the dumbest guy out there and that's a lot of balls in the air to follow. Moses Tripoli, ok. I still don't understand who the guy was that gave him the new identity. Some guy he knew well it seemed. The guy spoke Sioux? He understood what Hanzee told him IMO.

I don't know, I feel like my grandfather following the sub-plot lines of Colombo and getting mad because my Grandma had to explain it to him. :hot:

Another great episode. Can't read the thread because I don't want to know what happens but this is seriously best show I have watched in long time. Great scenes, great characters, right amount of quirky, weirdness.

i`m reliving this series through your posts
First time in a long, long time I have stayed up late to watch more TV. Was just going to start an episode and maybe get to a good spot and pause then they had this epic shootout.

The Indian killer, every scene with that guy is money.

So good.

I think the guy who gave him that identity is the guy who became Tripoli later. There's more physical resemblance to the later Tripoli.

The second season of Fargo will be released on DVD and BR on February 23, 2016. In addition to all ten episodes, both DVD and BR disc formats include five featurettes–"Lou on Lou: A Conversation with Patrick Wilson, Keith Carradine and Noah Hawley", "Waffles and Bullet Holes: A Return to Sioux Falls", "The Films of Ronald Reagan: Extended Fargo cut", "The True History of Crime in the Midwest", and "Skip Sprang TV Commercial"

That is what I like to think too... does not seem to be a popular opinion though, Maybe the new "face" Honzee needed was an actual figurehead to look like he was in charge while Honzee ran things from behind the scenes?

I'd bail from this thread until you finish, btw.

I'm carefully just adding to the end so not seeing anything. Just finished the one with Nick Offerman starring throughout with him talking down the Gerhardts at the jail. Another awesome episode. Some really great acting this. Everyone is just killing their roles.

Now they are adding cool music during the end credits, some crazy version of "Man of Constant Sorrow".

ya the soundtrack is killer...id buy it

One episode left. Last couple haven't been as strong as a whole but some great scenes. Pretty much 3/4 of the show is dead at this point. Good music continues.

I think Ted Danson was an alien. the new language thing was just a cover. didn't the aliens show up right after he got shot? then they shined their light on the guys in the parking lot below, possibly looking for him, but he was in the room. when they didn't find him, they took off.

things that make you go hmm...

Finished. Didn't end as strong as the middle episodes but that would have really been something. Great series, very well done. Assuming there is another one in the works. Will be tough to top this one, hopefully they don't pull a "True Detective".

The mother of the gang stood out in all the great performances.

There is.. But not coming around until 2017 :kicksrock:

I didn't think he was an alien, but I wondered if maybe the language stuff he was working on was coming from the aliens and they were channeling it through him or something.

Just binge watched both seasons.

Got legit choked up when the wife with cancer described how she saw a life with technology and they cut back to her family as the season 1 cast.

Incredible incredible television.

Just finished - binged the whole season in about 10 days....an episode a day was awesome...I may wait when season 3 comes as I'd rather binge then agonize each week

Great season...I liked it better than season 1...so much great acting...story was entertaining with lots of twists and WTFs......I personally didnt love the UFO but it didnt diminish my enjoyment.

One of my favorite series at this point. Love how they reshuffled the deck and still rocked it.

Thats a long wait but if it gives them time to get this right then Im all for it!

Bear saying "none of us are family" and "it's already done" before popping his niece was unbelievably cold (and awesome).

Thought season one was decent but nothing special. Heard season 2 was better. So I dove in.

What an incoherent mess. Ten times more flawed then season one. Like watching Charlie Brown try to kick the football for 10 episodes.

Barely anything makes sense. Motivations and reactions are just unnatural. Lots of flair but also a lot of lazy writing.

Most overrated series in TV history IMO.

Based on the last review I realize I forgot to mark today as opposite day.

Someone do me a favor and remind me next year when it is coming so I can be better prepared.. :thanks:

Couldn't disagree more. The episodes in the middle, maybe 2-7 or so were some of the best TV I have watched in a long time.

Apparently 2 Broke Girls is still on the air...

Try the Leftovers. Especially season 2 where it becomes a masterpiece.

Plus Landry doesn't run faster then a cop car in The Leftovers.

Suspending disbelief is one thing. Shoddy writing is another. The Leftovers walks that high-wire brilliantly. Fargo does not.

Hmmm.

Answer this: Mad Max: Fury Road - very awesome or just another action movie?

Mad Max top 3 movie of the year. But comparing the two is a non-starter IMO.

Completely different tonally and genre.

Fargo is like a bad bond ending every episode where the bad guy tells u what he is going to do before killing you. Problem is fargo is critically acclaimed not a popcorn flick. Often times with Fargo a little thought could have avoided that. Lot of unforced errors in Fargo.

Here is the difference between shoddy writing and excellent (Breaking Bad) writing:

Ted Danson goes to Peggy's house to PROTECT her. A standoff ensues. Danson gets knocked out by the Indian. Danson wakes up and just leaves. Doesn't check on Peggy. Nothing. Well to be honest the next episode he says he should have checked on Peggy. Guess the writers saw how ridiculous it was. Scenes shot at different times and put together.

Then:

Danson drives down the woods and sees Wilson with Landry. Landry just runs away from Wilson. Wilson a cop with a gun. Danson like, "Don't worry we know where he is going."

So somehow Landry runs faster then the car while avoiding the trailing Indian. Landry gets home and surmises the situation and he and peggy leave. Danson/Wilson arrive shortly after in their CAR but Landry/Peggy already gone.

That is INSANE.

Excellent writing:

Danson passed out the whole time. Never drives to pick up Wilson. Which did nothing to advance the plot other then make it ####ty.

Landry somehow knocks Wilson out in the woods (I can suspend my disbelief) and makes it home to get Peggy and take off.

Wilson comes too and makes his way on foot to the house. Wakes Danson up from his daze. But Landry and Peggy gone.

It's just one scene. But this happened every episode for no reason.

You know what they say about opinions ;)

Sorry you didn't like it but all shows are not for everyone.. Many of us LOVED the first two seasons and can't wait for season 3..

We will just have to agree to disagree.. :hifive:

Breaking bad is my favorite show but they had dumb scenes too. Particularly the magnets at the police headquarters.

I just figured the woods were dense enough that he couldn't fit the car through and he ended taking a less direct route than the people on foot

Wasn't comparing the two movies. More calibrating my "entertainment meter" against yours. If you disliked MMFR, a totally different thing, then I was going to be able to totally disregard your opinions of entertainment moving forward

You two bite your tongue, the train robbery is one of the best scenes on TV ever.

Surprised to hear folks complain a lot about Fargo. Plot is BSC at times but it was a lot of fun nonetheless.

Whoa, slow down Johnny Logic. Daywalker will have none of that.

So the scene where the knocked out Peggy got up and got the best of Dodd didn't bother you? Or that he hadn't killed her by that point?

I can suspend my disbelief but just write the scene more believable.

Every major climax was a sh&tshow.

Yes, absolutely. But episode ten was the weakest of them all.

Didn't Solverson the older state he got injured in the shootout (in season one)?
