Fargo TV series on FX - season 3 starts TONIGHT 4/19!!! (2 Viewers)

I really liked this episode. I'm warming up to Lorraine Lyon's character, still not feeling Jennifer Jason Leigh's affected voice she uses, but she had some great lines in this one.
I can't get past her ridiculous duck lips.
It was less noticable in Lasso because you weren't looking......
I think you're talking about Juno Temple (Dorothy/Nadine) and Jaysus is referring to Jennifer Jason Leigh (Lorraine).

Ohhh 😂

Anybody else finding that the story is dragging along and the episodes aren't advancing the story much?
I keep thinking this is the episode that things take off but then I realize they are just laying more groundwork for the next episode. I did enjoy episode one or two or both of them but these last few have not hit the mark for me overall.

Still enjoying the slow burn pace. Last nights ep just helped push things along a bit.

Could do without the cops husband though.
I don't think it is actually the pace of the show that bothers me, it is the number of commercial breaks. When this airs in the US are there commercials? It seems like we get a short scene of the show, then another commercial break.

Streaming on Hulu. No commercials here.

Same issue Stateside. If I watch it live on FX, tons of commercials. You may get a 5 minute scene and then a commercial break. DVR is a must.

They've got to be setting something up with that guy, karma gets him in the end somehow.

I'm betting some sort of horrific accident but probably not wood chipper bad.

Beaten to the death by another golfer with a golf club is the only thing I’ll accept.

For sure, but having to skip through the commercials is a pain. It ruined watching Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul live on AMC too.

Enjoying it overall, but Jennifer Jason Leigh is terribly miscast in this imo. Takes me out of the scene whenever she tries to sound powerful or demanding. Less of her please

That puppet scene was really well executed. Had me entering another world and forgetting these weren't actual people. Love all the creative quirks and themes this show incorporates (y)
It was very well done. I just wish it was part of the story instead of an exposition dump. I was borderline pissed when the shot shifted to the pancakes.

They made up for it with the cliffhanger though. Seeing Hamm walk in that room was dark and eerie af.

I knew that was happening and I was still mad that it happened.

Yep. I'm really looking forward to Munch showing up and extracting his revenge on Hamm and son. Gator killed the old lady, attempted to kill Munch and stole the money on the deal they had. As far as they know, the debts were paid and Gator thinks he's dead. This should be fun.

I was thinking the money isn't in the bag. Why would he just leave it in the car?

Doesn't seem like Munch really cares about money and more about your word/honor but the intention was definitely there to renege on the deal. Would be interesting if Munch was playing 4D chess and had a tracker in there but not sure someone 500 years old is familiar with such technology (definitely an ode to No Country For Old Men).

Munch did have a wad of cash on him that he handed to the old lady's son....before he dispatched him. So maybe the money wasn't in the bag.

One thing the puppet show didn't explain is how Dorothy/Nadine got her fighting skills. She was a 15 year old runaway when Linda found her and brought her into Roy's house. So how did she turn into a John Wick/Rambo/etc "tiger" as Munch calls her?

I wish the nurse didn't say "not bad on the eyes either" Gave it away.

Cats have the innate ability to scratch and claw their way out of just about any situation so maybe she was born with it. Seems like there's a reason her last name is Lyon.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't going to be Munch :bag:

Yeah, right when the nurse said her husband was there, I knew who it was even though she said yes when Dot asked "Waynes here?"

:goodposting: as soon as the nurse said "strong and handsome" or something along those lines I knew what was coming but still  they went that way.

You just know bleeping Linda called him... Hopefully "consequences" are coming soon .

Me too. The whole time. The chicken piccata recipe and postcard at the truck stop were both in the "dream".

What did Dorothy mean asking about her friend then? You think her brain was scrambled from the knock?

Same. Pretty sure she was part of the dream.

I will say that the (potential) dream sequence advanced the story unlike many dream sequences - but it’s such a tired trope at times that I’m not certain it was a dream but figure it was.

I was trying to decide if her sitting at the table and getting pancake served brought up the memory of how she got to this point.
Or it was just a "dream" sequence she went into while looking at the smile. 🤔

That’s kinda what I thought

So many scenes from the original Fargo movie are added nicely to this series , the latest being the killing of the obnoxious son of the old woman with an Axe from behind ,hmmm, where have we seen that before .

Loved it.

linda left them behind because shes dead, not that she couldnt take them with her.

the utopia is an afterlife for battered women. she only arrives there when she runs out of gas. the "location" is found in a buried box. saints are only recognized as saints after they die. the point of the journey is that dot cannot get linda to help her.

she projected some fault onto linda because she was the only person who helped her. her previous "trip" to her sisters was to the hospital, and the last "trip" she took she never returned. dot blames the grooming on linda to some degree when in reality all of it was roy, including picking her up from the supermarket and this is how dot finally realizes it and forgives her because she, like all of the women, were puppets under the control of men.

the reason the reclamation must happen after creating puppets is dot is now in control of her own story.

Uh, you saw the part where Roy walks into her hospital room, right? I'd hardly call that being any more in control of her own story than at any previous point following her initial escape.

The puppet show was an exposition dump, nothing more.
