"How much for something in the first ten rows?"

"20 bucks."

Now front-row Van Halen Tickets would be 10 times that from a scalper. GB 1982.

You pretend you don't see them, they pretend they don't see you. But who loses in the end?

Considering the discussion this week, perfect timing. It's been a while since I've seen it, so I'll watch it in a couple hours when It's starts on this coast.

Hey, where'd you get that jacket?!?!?!
Uh, I got this from the network. We've all heard the term "one hit wonder" regarding rock groups, but in movies has there ever been a bigger one-hit wonder than Robert Romanus?

A huge role in a seminal, cultural phenomenon type of movie....and then nothing.

You know to whom he's related, yes?Hint: Sopranos.

EDIT: You NAMED the Sopranos guy... "Robert" played Damone.

 While Sean Penn and Phoebe Cates (well parts of her anyway), get all the credit, its Romanus and Reinhold that really make this movie great IMO.

Classic Pac10 flick...we were wearing checkered vans five years before the rest of the country.

D'oh.I corrected my mistake.Robert, not Richard. Richard was from the Sopranos.
To address your original point, Robert would have always been stereotyped as the "5-point plan" guy. ;)BTW, did you ever see Richard in "Mean Streets?" He was really good. David Proval (Richie Aprile) was also in it.

Good point, but mmm...Phoebe Cates. She helped me find out what my "special purpose" was for.

Don't recall Richard, but certainly remember Proval as the bartender. On a sidenote, Proval was an acting teacher and one of his assignments was Eddie Murphy for "48 Hours", specifically the scene where Eddie walks into the redneck bar and has to take control. Eddie was having a lot of trouble getting through that scene and it was Proval who guided him through it.

Wow. Never realized it clocked in at under 90 minutes.

Still a good way to spend a late evening.

Tom (played by Chris Penn), is a really crazy teen. Anita (played by Lea Thompson), is a girl who works at a donut shop, while her good friend Eileen (played by Jenny Wright) works at a trendy department store. Anita has a fling with a cop named David (played by Hart Bochner), who, unknown to Anita, is married. The three boys set out for a night of fun and craziness at a strip bar and later on have a party at Bill's apartment and from there the night gets really wild and crazy.

Trivia:

Writer Cameron Crowe's wife, Nancy Wilson (of Heart fame) appears in the film as the wife of the cop, David. She also appeared in the 1982 hit comedy film Fast Times at Ridgemont High, also written by Cameron Crowe.

Art Linson stepped in as director when the original director dropped out and Universal Pictures told him to find someone else quick, or the film would be canceled.

Eddie Van Halen's original score included pieces that later evolved into Right Now, A.F.U. (Naturally Wired), Good Enough, and Feels So Good on later Van Halen records.

"The Wild Life" theme song was performed by British female trio Bananarama.

Rolling Stone Ron Wood does a quick cameo during the house party scene. He busts through the door with other partiers and heads straight for the fridge.

I didn't know Crowe wrote "The Wild Life." What a God-awful film that was. They tried to catch-phrase Christopher Penn into stardom and failed miserably. Truly wretched film.

When ordering food, you find out what she wants, then order for the both of you. It's a classy move.

"Now, the lady will have the linguini and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice."

GB Damone. :towelwave:

:goodposting:I think the movie studio sent a dump truck full of money to Crowe's doorstep and said "Just give us whatever half-completed student scriptwriting project that you've got."[/Cop control]

Took a class on this movie in college. It's great to watch it right after viewing Animal House and seeing Fast Times rebut that movie point by point.

This is usually the point in Fast Times threads where someone incorrectly points out that the film made a mistake with "Kashmir" blaring to side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

It was a crappy movie but there were a few memorable lines. "Did you say Klineman or Mosely?"

I take Jennifer Jason Leigh ove Phoebe Cates ANYDAY of the week.

"Did you forget the charisma of Robin Zander? ... 'The dream police da da da da ..." - Damone.

I just switched to Sanka. So, have a heart?

I want to say this to my students every morning I miss my caffeine.
