I'd like to see that movie. I saw your review in the movie thread.

Went with God Only Knows. A masterpiece.

eta* Also, I love the Beach Boys so much and find such value in their albums I could probably rank order the songs up until about 20/20.

eta2* Spirit of America is the compilation of my childhood and my later stoner 20's, even. Perfect for the four channels of an eight-track, perfect for a double album.

Don't really have a favorite as there are way too many great songs, but Good Vibrations might be the highest achievement in pop music.

Pet sounds something like

God only knows

Caroline no

I'm waiting for the time

Let's go away

Wouldn't it be nice

Sloop John b

I just wasn't made

You still believe

Don't talk

Their output from 1965 alone is better than 99% bands will ever do

Albums from 1965:

1) Today! - March 8, 1965

2) Summer Days (and Summer Nights!!) - July 5, 1965

3) Party! - November 8, 1965

That's so absurd. :lmao:

Lol at Pink Floyd spending its entire career trying to make records better than "Good Vibrations" and failing.

Too many to choose from, but gun to head my top three would be;

Caroline No

I Just Wasn't Made For These Times

Feel Flows

You love your digs at Floyd GB, but no one except the Beatles has topped Good Vibrations. And even that might be a push.

Yeah, that was a little transparent wasn't it? :bag:
It's all good - we all have our hot buttons in music.

<cough> Springsteen </cough>

God Only Knows is basically perfection so I skipped it and went with Sloop John B. Too many good songs - need to get a playlist going.

When I was in high school we had to do a lip sync for drama class. I did Surfin' USA. I live in Phoenix and had to walk a mile to the bus stop and take the bus five miles to school. For my lip sync, I brought my surf board to school and carried it on the bus. It was quite a site, and pretty fun carrying that thing around school.

So I voted Surfin' USA.

And, I had a surfboard in Phoenix because we had a fake surfing place called Big Surf that I was totally into.

That's awesome

Beach Boys, 1965. Some rank orders (personal and only my opinion)...

Albums:

1) Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)

2) Today!

3) Party!

Top twenty song rankings (again, my opinion) from the first two album releases (not all songs were released in 1965) and other singles released in 1965:

1) Girl Don’t Tell Me (mono)

2) Do You Wanna Dance? (mono)

3) The Little Girl I Once Knew (mono)

4) Let Him Run Wild (mono, with hiss - awesome!)

5) When I Grow Up (To Be A Man) (more mono with pop and hiss)

6) Good To My Baby (mono)

7) Salt Lake City (original MONO!!!)

8) Kiss Me, Baby (fabulous MONO!!!!)

9) And Your Dream Comes True (beautiful MONO!!!!!)

10) Help Me, Ronda/ Help Me, Rhonda (I like the original off of Today! Hey, did I mention that this is MONO?!)

11) Amusement Parks U.S.A. (You know by now I'm looking for mono mixes for your asses, so hey, serendipity!)

12) Barbara Ann (mono)

13) The Girl From New York City (?)

14) Don’t Hurt My Little Sister (I can't believe this song is only their #14 song from 1965. Yes, in one year. So much mono.)

15) California Girls (mono hiss, gorgeous)

16) Dance, Dance, Dance (I stopped and listened to this entire song-length mono recording. Check this dude's rig!)
17) Please Let Me Wonder (mono)

18) I’m So Young (mono)

19) You’re So Good To Me (mono)

20) In The Back Of My Mind (I certainly wouldn't fail you on this track…mono)

write-ups possibly TK

Well, I didn't want to.....Rush.....into anything

If you're at work and it comes on is there one song you will stop what you're doing until it's over?

That's John B to me.
