"Call Me". It's got one of those torqued-up rhythms like "Billion Dollar Babies" or "Fame" (which I think probably ripped Blondie's off) that seems ready to implode but never does.

Man, what a versatile band.

I love their "comeback" record from several years ago, too - "Maria".

In the last twenty years or so, every interview I have seen with Debbie is filled with anger and bitterness. It was startling to see how someone so small physically could be filled with so much rage. But, if you step back and look at her career, I think much of her anger is justified. Other than Chris Stein, the band was comprised of mediocre talent, and the burden always fell on her shoulders.

When Stein was struck with a serious illness, Debbie gave up what would have been a lucrative solo career to care for him, and when he was finally healed...he dumped her for a younger woman.

Debbie has a right to be angry.

70 seems strange but then I remember she was always the old new wave rocker in the early 80s.

Are people voting Rapture as a joke?

Clem Burke was a solid drummer, too ... but as far as marketability goes, your point is taken.
You've checked out Clem's new band? The Empty Hearts. Wally Palmar of the Romantics on vocals and guitar, Elliott Easton of the Cars on lead guitar, Andy Babiuk of Chesterfiled Kings on bass (and of course Clem on drums) Pretty solid stuff.

Call Me is my fav overall, with sentiment attached to Tide Is High.

My cousin produced a movie with her - "drop dead rock" I think it was called. I'll just leave it at that.o
