Favorite player (1 Viewer)

Dr. Awesome

The nice thing about being an A's fan is you get to pick a new favorite player every year or so.

My favorite player from my team (Oakland) is Dallas Braden. I love this guy's mentality. And he's usually saying the "right" things in interviews. Certainly not the best pitcher on the team but a quality pitcher nonetheless. Clearly a team leader and it's obvious he takes things very seriously but is always joking around.

My favorite player in baseball is Tim Hudson. He was my favorite guy from his time in Oakland and that's carried on. He and Braden are a lot alike. I admit I don't know too many players outside the fantasy circle so it's always fun to hear what other guys I should be rooting for.

I tend to have a fondness for Eric Byrnes types (guys who always hustle) as well.

My favorite player is Ichiro. The dude is so fun to watch. He runs hard all the time, he has this crazy swing, he is outstanding in the field and has a rifle for an arm. He is one of the few players in baseball that is worth watching 100% of the time (at bat, on base, in the field).

And he is actually a really funny dude.

"Chicks who dig home runs aren't the ones who appeal to me. I think there's sexiness in infield hits because they require technique. I'd rather impress the chicks with my technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out."

"To tell the truth, I'm not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I'm excited going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face, because I'm lying."

:lmao:

Ichiro always seems like he's busting his butt. No matter how much I may hate a team I can't truly hate a player who hustles (a reason I like Jeter despite hating the Yankees).

Are those actual quotes from Ichiro? I might have to move this guy up in my personal rankings.

Probably Chase and Chase. I have a small crush on Vicotrino because he plays my position and wears my number :bag:

I liked Werth but heard many sotries of him being a #### in real life... Don't know the truth to that.

Jayson Werth. Dude is a legend.

Two pitchers and a hottie from the crowd

Fire it up

Yeah man

WS parade - he was chugging beers out of that big red fist all day.

Captain Caveman

How many beers can you spot?

One of his many stoner quotes...

“When I'm seeing the ball well, it's almost like taking 1,000 still pictures of the ball from the time it is pitched to the time it gets to the plate," he said. "When I'm not seeing the ball well, it's like two pictures."
That's a really great way of explaining it.

As you can tell from my screen name, I love to watch junk ball pitchers. There's little more entertaining for me than a guy like Moyer or late-career Pedro Martinez surviving through guile, location and changes of pace. El Duque was a particular favorite because of his many different deliveries.

There's really nobody like that on the current Giants staff. In spite of some unconventional personalities, SF pitchers are pretty conventional in approach. I distinguish between lack of stuff from someone like Zito vs. a guy with a full junkballer's repertoire. Livan Hernandez fit the bill when he was here, although to be honest it's hard to watch a pitcher like that when he's playing for the home team. I'd rather admire from afar a pitcher with a kitchen sink full of nothing. Give me Timmy Lincecum every fifth game and I'm a happy camper.

I'm looking forward to the MLB career of Cuban defector Yadel Marti who's in the minors for the Oaklands. His first AAA start was pretty good last night. He supposedly has eight pitches, one of them is a sub-average fastball.

ETA: say what you will about Barry Bonds, but his 73rd HR in 2001 off of knuckleballer Dennis Springer is fun to watch. Springer lobs it up like a dad pitching to his seven year old son and Barry just crushes it.

From my team it's still Jeter. Say what ever you want about his range, him being overrated, whatever. Dude is the man. Although, Granderson is climbing the list fast.

In the Majors, it's a tough one. 5 years ago, I would have said Vlady without blinking an eye, but he's pretty much just a DH now on the downside of his career, though he can still mash. I'd probably go with Josh Hamilton at the moment.

Chipper Jones is passing the torch to Jason Heyward this year....

Chipper is such a stud on and off the field...doesnt shy away from the camera and says all sorts of politically incorrect things. Similar to Mark Grace....

"Just cause there is a gay guy in your locker room, doesnt mean he is digging your chili" :lmao:

Big fan of Adam Rosales?
I can't wait for him to get healthy. He's fun to watch. This offseason he even sprinted around the clubhouse while he was prepping for an interview. He's kind of like Forrest Gump - runs everywhere.
Dude probably has a top 5 fastest home run jog of all time.
He has the three fastest home run trots of all time (excluding inside the park home runs). The next 2 fastest are by some guy for the Reds.

Have always loved Dunn but now that he's on the White Sox - ugh.

On Los Tigres - Scherzer and Austin Jackson.

For the Rangers, Elvis Andrus. Robbed of a Gold Glove last year. Should win several. He makes wow plays look routine.

All of baseball, I love to watch Pujols at bat. He's the only guy that when he comes up, I'll stop what I'm doing and watch....really watch.

Jeter's my favorite player, both on my team and in MLB.

My favorite non Yankee used to be Carl Crawford, but I just can't root for him now that he's with the Red Sux. Tulo has now become my favorite non Yankee. Love watching that guy play the game. Close second is Andrew McCutchen in Pittsburgh. Heck of a young ball player.

Jason Heyward....love watching this guy swing the bat. Although I must say watching Miguel Cabrera take batting practice at fenway was :jawdrop: ...ever since then he's been pretty high on the list.

Justin Upton on my hometown team.

Not surprising that you like Jeter and Tulo. Jeter was Tulo's idol growing up. Tulo would definitely be in my top 10 non-Yankees. Good call on whoever mentioned Posey. Love watching him play.

No one I currently love to watch more right now that Jonny Gomes.
Can't wait to see this guy duck and cover when the Cards come to town.
Hey, if you want to call a Grade A dooosh your favorite player, knock yourself out. Says more about you that you might think. ;)Especially coming from a guy that has a player that does EVERYTHING the right way on the same roster (Scott Rolen). How can he not be your favorite player on that team?

I didn't say that Gomes was my favorite player, just that I love watching him the most. He's a complete spaz and very entertaining.I'm sure you're referring to last year's brawl, but I'm not sure you how you can specifically single anyone out on either team as being a doosh other than Phillips.

Actually, I'm referring to this.

Ah yes, should make things even more interesting next weekend. But I've heard multiple "sides" to that story. I don't think Hal McCoy would get something like that wrong, but who knows.

Jays - Travis Snider

MLB - Scott Rolen, maybe? - Loved him as a Blue Jay. I really respect former Jays Vernon Wells and Roy Halladay for being good people and doing a ton of work off the field and everything right on the field, but neither really has much personality to speak of.

Now that he's in the majors, Tim Collins is up there as well...

Hard not to like a guy with such a great 'stache.

Josh Hamilton - power, speed, and a huge arm. Also plays all-out, which is fun to watch but unfortunately leads to frequent injuries. :sadbanana:

And I'm biased, but the Rangers as a whole are really fun to watch. Ian, Elvis, Nellie, etc... these guys are having fun out there and it shows.

Eh, I'm an A's fan but can admit the Rangers are fun to watch. And I like Ron Washington from his Oakland days.

Tulowitzki is great to have on your FB team. I was questioning keeping him before last year. Made the right choice and won the league. I don't know what he's like as a person as I haven't seen too many Rockies' games, but he seems like a good dude.

How has nobody mentioned Brian Wilson yet? The guy is hysterical.

Favorite on the team? Probably Konerko. Used to be Buehrle until he made those ridiculous comments about dogs and Vick.

My team - Marlon Byrd/Starlin Castro

Everyone Else - Albert Pujols, for the same reason it use to be Frank Thomas, I tune in just to watch him swing the bat
