Favre considering comeback (1 Viewer)

Without reading every post, and sorry if this has already been answered sufficiently, but why in the hell wouldn't Green Bay just release him if they don't want him and can't trade him? They owe him that much.
No...they don't owe him a damn thing. Why release a player so that one of your rivals might pick him up and be better for it (Im talking about that team that wears purple.

I could be wrong but these are the facts as I understand them:First - Brett Favre did not retire. He said he was going to but he never signed the paper so he is still a Packer. Because for the announcement they were able to put him in some potential retirement category so he doesn't take a roster spot.Second - They cannot stop him from coming to camp as an active player and if he does they have to pay him 11 million or cut him. The 11m would immediately count against the cap.Third - If he gets hurt in camp they cannot cut him,l they can only put him on IR.Doubt he would do that but he does have leverage if he wants to use it.
Incorrect. Brett did retire...he announced it...he is currently on the reserved/retired list with his contract not counting a thing against GB's salary cap...at this point, if nothing changes, he will not be paid by the team. That is retired. The paper work means nothing.2nd...correct, if he wants reinstatement they cannot stop it and would pay him what his contract calls for.3rd correct. He has very little leverage given their cap situation.

Over the last four NFL drafts, the Packers are the only team in the NFL to burn both a 1st and 2nd-round pick on the QB position. This is a direct result of the Favre soap opera.
BS.They used a 1st rounder because Rodgers fell to them where he was rated much higher and where they drafted there were not seen as any impact players that could help right away. I always found it funny how people whined for years that the team was not preparing for life without Favre, and then bashed the team when they finally did.The 2nd rounder...again, Brohm fell from where they though he might...Favre was already retired, so they took him.Soap opera? You mean the ESPN soap opera...lets call it for what it really is.

 Or the result of have a mid-late 30's QB and the Packers having the foresight to groom his replacement. Everyone knows the guy can't play forever.
...but the Pack have since drafted a possible replacement (ie. Brohm) for Favre's replacement (ie. Rodgers). Rodgers has little game experience and is a free agent in just 2 short years. It's impossible to fathom that the Pack drafted Rodgers in '05 with the intent he rides the pine behind Favre for 3 (...or 4) years. They could have used the pick on a guy like Roddy White, Marlin Jackson, Heath Miller, etc.

Who rated Rodgers "higher"? The 20+ NFL teams who passed on him??Who rated Brohm "higher"? The 20+ teams who passed on him two times??

Newsflash...NFL teams do not use FF mock drafts to pick players.

You are 100% correct sir.

They did so because they have seen Rodgers get hurt several times. Its called smart football...don't just assume the guy you drafted 3 years ago will really be able to cut it or remain healthy.Obviously they did not know when Favre would retire when they drafted Rodgers...but to blame that on some "soap opera" is ridiculous. When you have a QB Favre's age, you never know when he would retire. What they have done is how good football teams are run.Until last year what had Roddy White done? And is that a position of need for this team? Nope. Don't forget, they still had Javon Walker that year.Marlin Jackson...maybe...though, not like he did a ton his first few years either.and where would that have left the Packers this year? With a rookie QB rather than a QB who has been learning the system for 3 years and improving each year?I don't know any Packer fan who would rather have any of those 3 guys over Rodgers right now.

Plenty of teams rated him higher. It was a toss up who would go #1. Yes...he fell...alot of times a QB was not needed.Brohm...several places did.

None of what I have talked about as far as rating is related to FF mock drafts.

But you continue to show ignorance and foolishness on this topic.
