Favre is open to returning (1 Viewer)

That's the ONLY way I see him returning. And that a big IF, even if it Rodgers does get hurt.

If Rodgers struggles in training camp, could the Packers be the first team to offer a bounty to anyone who injuries their own QB?

Can't blame Favre for leaving the door slightly open.

If the Packers were 9-1 and Rodgers got a pretty serious injury and the backup came in for GB and they lost 2 straight to fall to 9-3.

I'd bet money that Brett Farve would be back. Odds are he won't, but there is a chance he would be back in the right circumstance.

He retired too quickly after GB didn't go after Moss and now that the season's starting to get a little closer, now that it's hitting him that he's actually going to be bored off his butt during the NFL season, now that he's realizing that GB lost in overtime to the eventual SB winner and GB should only be better if he were QB, he's probably realizing he should have given it 1 more shot.

So now we know why his papers havent been filed yet. I think there's a good chance that Rodgers gets hurt.
why is the actual filing of papers such a big deal. Didn't Seau and others play after they filed them?I don't think Plummer has filed his. Last I read that owner was claiming he still was on his team as a joke of sorts.
I agree with this butdoes anyone think a 38 year old guy came come back in the middle of a season and play?

I got from the article that favre did sign them for green bay cap reasons but he could just send in a letter whenever afterwards saying he was unretired. sounds more like hes thinking hes semi retired at the moment and looking for a midseason knockout of rogers.

You guys miss the press conference? He did retire. Favre hasn't held one press conference since he retired.

Until the papers are filed he counts towards the cap. And he counts a lot..

So, if Rodgers goes down, how hard is it to imagine Brett coming back? And there's quite a few that wonder why Favre hasn't been flat out dropped in dynasty leagues. It could easily happen so how much value does he still hold? We'll see. More than nothing for sure.

How about people let him go away. His long time friend is writing a book about him...asked him a few questions for the Biloxi Sun-Harold (last time I checked...most here don't get that paper or probably don't even read it online). But it gets put out there by larger media sources...and off we go.Want him to go away. Quit reading every article where you see his name.Quit posting in every thread that mentions his name.Basically...quit talking about him.He is trying to go away...but some just won't let go (and for the most part its not even Packers' fans.)

Thank you for proving my point in the first post I made in this thread. How is he a glory hound?

Because he did an interview with a long time friend for the Biloxi newspaper?

Oh...and he has retired already.

Not really. All the Packers have to do is put him on the reserved/retired list and they get the cap relief (so I read in one of 20,000 articles talking about him not turning in those papers)

this is all context. They asked him if he'd come back if Rodgers got hurt. It's not like he's at home with his voodoo doll hoping Aodgers pulls something.

He is trying to go away...but some just won't let go
What a victim he is.
Not really saying that...nor is Favre.Well...maybe he did with the reports last week and his quote of "they won't even let me retire".People will continue to write about him and talk about him for a while....and as long as they do. Idiots on message boards will keep calling Favre a drama queen for doing nothing but mow his lawn and agree to an interview with an old friend who writes for a small newspaper.

Look we went 13 - 3 last year and looked GREAT in doing so, it's not so weird that people want him to keep playing and that a guy who loves the game would be torn. Everybody should get off his case.

He is trying to go away...but some just won't let go (and for the most part its not even Packers' fans.)
If he was REALLY trying to go away, he would file the retirement papers and go away.
So...retiring...going down on the farm in Mississippi is not going away.He claimed he did not know about the papers (which are getting way too much press as they are next to meaningless by many accounts).

How has he not? :penalty: Good lord some of you are dense.
I guess you missed this in the article:"And if that opportunity presented itself and they did call, it would be tempting. And I very well could be enticed to do it."

To clarify my cryptic post earlier:

I love Brett, and enjoyed his career immensely. I am not a "hater".

I am however, sick to death of the whole story. I don't blame Favre, it's his career, if has been unsure the last few years, hey, that's his right. He could have done a few things to make it less of a circus, but hey, that's not his job.

That doesn't mean I can't be sick to death of the whole thing. I was sick of this story last year. Is it the media's fault? Mostly, sure.

I don't care whose fault it is. I just want to stop reading and hearing about this. When it creeps into my Total Access viewing, it becomes an issue.

Saying a hypothetical would be tempting is not making a decision and sticking with it?Has he "unretired"? Until he does...his decision is made...and he has stuck with it.

I doubt very seriously you can contemplate retirement as much as Favre has without doing the research (or paying someone else to do the research) and find out that you have to sign paperwork indicating you intend to retire. He certainly knew that a press conference was warranted.

Whether he did or not...the paperwork deal is nearly meaningless. As has been pointed out by others. Jake Plummer has not filed his either.

Its a technicality and from what I have heard, it will not hurt the Pack's cap value if they put him on the reserve/retired list.

 I dont care if every Pulitzer writer known to man shows up on this site and suddenly develops a passionate love affair with football, filling up page after page with phenomenal, all-time stuff. This post will be in my top 5 of the year 8 months from now regardless of circumstance.

His retirement is hypothetical. It's based on words he said, just like the words he said about coming back being tempting.

Are you serious? How the hell is he a glory hound? Did you notice how amazing he played last year? There's no reason that once you reach a certain age you should retire, as long as you do your job well you should keep doing it if you want to. Now if Favre played for 3 more years and was bad in all of them, then I would call him a glory hound, but he is no way one now.

Not really. His retirement is just that...a retirement. He is done.He has informed the team of this.He is at home...not preparing for the season.
