Favre trade incentives (1 Viewer)

Yeah, I am not aware of what they are either.
Off the top of my head: BF plays 50% of snaps it's a 3rd rd pick to GB, if they make the playoffs and Favre plays 70% then a 2nd, if they make the superbowl it's a first. Not sure if that's 100% right, but somewhere in that neighborhood.

Clipped from one of the many articles I found:

"According to NFL.com, the Packers will receive a fourth-round draft pick in 2009. The selection would turn into a third-rounder if Favre plays in 50 percent of the plays this season, a second-rounder if he plays in 70 percent and the Jets make the playoffs, or a first-round pick if he plays in 80 percent and the Jets make it to the Super Bowl."

From ESPN. Just google Brett Favre trade.

Trade so far looks good for the Packers and could get much better if the Jest some how get into the playoffs.

Somehow? You make it sound far fetched and the Jets have a very good team and would probably be a likely scenario in any other division. The only reason this is a question is because they are in a very competitive division.

As a Jets fan, I'm not convinced yet. I think they have the potential to be a very good team if everything clicks. Yeah, last week was a very good performance, yet they reeked against KC and Oakland the prior two weeks. To me, I want to see some more consistency. Beat the Rams, then at least split against the Patriots and Titans games before I can consider them to be very good.

Fixed.

Looks like Favre should reach the first incentive today and with a win could have the second condition in sight.
I am sure that will be a nice consolation prize should the Packers fail to make the playoffs this year thanks to the trade.

Now you are assuming GB would have made the playoffs with Favre. Personally I think TODAY Rodgers is a better QB than Favre. Have you been watching?

You can't honestly judge Favre's performance on the Jets, a team that was one of the worst in the league last year, where he had only a few weeks to get started in training camp, to Rodgers, who's known the offense and players for years...and inherited a 13-3 team.

The facts are the Jets have improved since the trade, and the Packers have declined and at the halfway point there is no clear favorite to win the North.

I agree, if GB doesn't make the playoffs, it's not on Rodgers.

I agree, if GB doesn't make the playoffs, it's not on Rodgers.
And conversely, if the Jets make the playoffs it's not because of Favre.
