FB Survey (1 Viewer)

NYRAGE

Footballguy
Anyone fill it out? An email was sent out this weekend. Man the survey was long, but I gave lots of feedback as I feel that the quality of the content has gone down these past couple of years.

I filled it out this morning and put in lots of comments about dynasty content, setting expectations, my lack of any interest in daily game, and my disappointment in the lack of response owners being called out by name on the message board (in the dynasty threads that I visit) to give some kind of official response to customer's inquiries. We'll see what comes of it but I'm all about give honest, constructive feedback in a way that I hope they can act on to improve. I did give them major kudos for their draft app, (redraft) rankings, daily email updates, etc.  Mix in the positives with the could-be-betters...

I don't expect they will be read or done anything about, but I let them know about most of those same issues and that I won't be renewing.

So they want our help to improve the product, but the first few questions simply exist to capture valuable marketing data to sell to or use with sponsors? Cmon guys, you were once better than this.

Anyone care to share what they like/don't like about FootballGuys? I'd be interested in hearing.

My main beef with FBG is lack of matchup discussion. 2 weekly articles (Hribar and Silva) on Rotoworld give me (for free) what I would hope to get from FBG (which is pay). FBG matchup column is marginally useful. All you are really getting is their categorization of the matchup (great, good, neutral or bad). The discussion contains stats you can get anywhere. No real insight. I make my own decisions so rankings aren't enough. They have 3 sets of rankings which can differ drastically so I want to hear their reasoning.

Things I like about FBG is Draft Dominator (classic), Waldman Top 10, Sigmund, Dr Jene, Fahey (pushing the pocket is awesome), projections and this, the Shark Tank. I also think "On the Couch" and The Audible are great podcasts. Dr Jene is mandatory reading/listening IMO.

The only thing I use this site for is player game logs, data dominator and historical stats and most of all this message board. I don't read articles and only time I look at rankings is off-season to gauge trade value. I avoid rankings as we get near time for redrafts, don't want to see them at all, no one's.

I got a free lifetime subscription but otherwise would not pay. The only website in existence I would pay would be PFF if they were charging what they used to charge before big timing their customers so as of now I'd pay the going rate for zero websites.  Twitter changed the game for me, more than enough quality free info around. But I also have time, if I was pressed for time I'd probably see more benefit in paying for someone to provide me rankings and insight.

Exactly

Ding Ding Ding!!! It's clear they have no clue what the problem is, because this is exactly what they lead with.

I did not subscribe for the first time ever, don't regret it.

What I basically wrote was:

1. There is better talent in the forum. If they took some time in the forum and maybe asked a few people to join up maybe that would improve their content.

2. Timeliness. Things were always late, especially in the back 50% of the season.

3. Content. Contributors were more concerned about promoting their lotto pick for the season than providing accurate analysis on regular players that most of us care about. Yeah, that lotto RB is a lifesaver for everyone but how often have these guys hit? If Lammey or Dodds tells me to go for a guy I'm running the opposite direction!

Guys who do contribute weekly practically mail it in- or at least it seems like it. Especially when you compare the quality of content to what it once was back when they really cared about making the website successful. Some are coming across just flat out lazy.

Dr. Jene's input is great but he's a pediatric MD... He seems real open to others' opinions on these matters. It'd be nice to have another 1 or 2 people on staff that could bounce ideas off of. One man's opinion is not always correct. I really like when you have articles where guys give their opinions on certain players and those opinions differ. I think that allows people to develop their own opinions better. It'd be nice to have this same kind of service from a medical perspective

4. DFS. Stop selling out your consumers. Stop trying to shove DFS down their throats.

I purchased the DD app and I was quite pleased. I found the forums to have more meaningful information than I ever got on the subscriber content

I filled it out as well. I have been a long time subscriber and I feel that at one time that gave me an advantage over my competition. I no longer feel that way. I am moving more towards dynasty leagues and I echo what has already been said, The move towards DFS has negatively affected the dynasty product. I am drafting a start up now and am able to get almost no current information or long term outlook on players. I feel as though we are being taken for granted or no longer matter. I have one year left on my subscription and it may be my last.

I'm also the 'winner' of a lifetime subscription here but I'll chime in anyway :D  I echo what others have said on the decline in quality since too much is focused on daily, I think that is a mistake and footballguys isn't the only one that made the error. I think it is becoming more and more apparent to the casual player (category I'd put anyone in that uses somewhere like footballguys to help set daily lineups) that DFS is quite the sharkpool and too difficult to win at. Focusing too much resource on Daily is going to be a big mistake as there will be little market for it from the casual fan. Everybody seems to have hired an 'analytics' guy and started spewing out weekly info and it is muddying the waters

Not much of the pay info I look at here these days, including rankings as I need some commentary along with them to make it a worthwhile read

I fully expect all negative comments regarding their DFS content to be ignored. They have latched on to that train......for better or worse. Mostly worse.

I also expect ALL comments regarding the lack of meaningful Dynasty content to be ignored as well.

My biggest fear?  That they ignore comments begging them to NOT do away with Classic Draft Dominator. There will be some excuse as to why they abandon it. I'm sure I can take a guess as to what that excuse might be.

I filled out the survey also.  I'm surprised to see some of your comments as I thought I was the only dinosaur that isn't into the daily plays.  :-)

I play mostly dynasty with a few redraft and draftmasters format leagues and not really into IDP.

I have given them feedback on this issue previously, but their "experts" rarely update their dynasty rankings during the season.  A lot of times, the postings are so old they are not useful and occasionally, I see a ranking list where it was obvious the person didn't put much effort into it - maybe just put a new date on an old ranking.  If Tyreek Hill is not in your top-75 WR by week-12 then I can't take your rankings serious.

I believe they have some very good articles during the season such as Bloom's "Buy Low, Sell High" and "Waiver Report"; Tefertiller's "Dynasty News"; Pasquino's "Money Talks" and Waldman's "Gut Check."  I also really the Shark Pool Forums like this one where I can read other's thought on issues.  I think FBG has some of the best/most passionate fantasy players.

This sounds a lot like what I wrote.  I also added that I'm actively seeking out a different site to pay for a subscription next year, as I will not be purchasing their product.

Wow, it's crazy how the posts in this thread my same exact feelings. They don't need a survey. They just need to read this thread. They've sold out to the daily sites. I wonder how much % ownership they have in them. They are too busy pimping the daily sites and have sold out their bread and butter customers

I'm not on the Facebook, so I'll chime in here.

They need to bring back the Wisdom of the Crowds contest.   I had 2 friends subscribe, pushing this contest as a major reason.  Then they drop it without notice.

Also, love Bloom on the podcasts , but he could use a new partner on the audible.

FB just meant FootballGuys.  It's not a Facebook survey.

As to the bolded, agree 100% on bringing that back.  Big reason I may drop. And to essentially not announce it was being dropped was quite frankly some BS. (It was only disclosed at the start of the season after multiple inquiries.)

Filled it out with many of the same themes:

1. Need to avoid the disaster that was the new DD and MyFBG rollouts last year. Important to maintain those bread and butter capabilities.

2. Need more and better dynasty content.

3. Need to meet commitments.

4. Don't care at all about DFS.

5. Should ask more staff members to participate in the Shark Pool, as was true some years ago when the SP was at its peak.

Looks like Fahey lasted three months at ESPN.  He "resigned" this week for apparently acting like a drunk fool at a bar.  I'm sure there's more to the story than that.  Never realized he was such a lightning rod but people on twitter seem to really not like him.

No link because the ones I've seen so far all have Fahey quotes dropping F-bombs.
