Hands down...Scott Pioli.

Wes Welker for a low 2nd rounder.

Sammy Morris, Adelius Thomas.

Oh yeah, and the 49ers 1st round pick.

I'm gonna go with James "Shack" Harris for the Jaguars this year.

I'm admittedly a homer, but the FO has struck gold this year with a fair amount of FA's that don't command a hefty price tag and, have managed cap room to the tune of (currently) 16 million under the cap. But its the additions and subtractions from this team that cements it.

Additions: Reggie Nelson, Justin Durant, Derek Landri have all played at a high level this year and were great additions in hindsight given the rash of injuries at their respective positions. Mike Walker should be a solid reciever, Podlesh has come on strong as a punter recently, Nwaneri has played beautifuly in spot duty and Nkang has been labeled one of the best gunners in the NFL. And thats just the draft class. Going forward, this has the potential for being one of the best 07 classes.

Resigning Players: Ernest Wilford, Quinn Gray and Daryl Smith were all re-signed/extneded in the offseason, and all have played huge roles in the season thus far. Not very expensive either.

Free Agency: Northcutt, Sammy Knight, Grady Jackson and Greg Estandia have all played big roles in our season and were all brought in during either the offseaon or midseason for minimal amounts of monesy. Richard Angulo and Aaron Glenn as well.

Coaches: Koetter, Monken, DeCamillis, Shula have all been great additions for this team and have taken them to new levels.

Subtractions: Cutting Leftwich is the best thing this team ever did. Ballsy move which really paid off.

to be fair, the draft though wasn't that great

What draft? It was pretty much Merriweather and they traded everything else. They traded their 2nd #1 for SF's #1 this year. They traded their #2 for Welker. They traded their #3 for Oaklands #3 next year.

I am not questioning the great moves above but I do believe the trade for Welker was for a 2nd and a 7th. FWIW.

4 30 (127) Kareem Brown, DL, Miami Apparently Brandon Meriweather wasn’t the only player to catch Bill Belichick’s eye during the coach’s visit to Coral Gables . . . Brown, not Meriweather, was the Hurricanes Defensive Player of the Year, registering 11 sacks and 16 pressures . . . Strong and powerful, shows surprising speed when chasing runners from behind . . . Frustratingly inconsistent, he was benched at times last season . . . Thrived as part of a rotation, which bodes well in New England . . . Joins Miami D-line alums Vince Wilfork and Santonio Thomas in Foxborough . . . Liberal arts major. 5 34 (171) Clint Oldenburg, OL, Colorado State As you’d expect from a coach’s son, Oldenburg is smart and possesses a great work ethic . . . He lacks bulk and quickness . . . Flashes a surprisingly powerful initial punch, especially considering he was a tight end until 2004 . . . Native of Gillette, Wyo. . . . Has been hampered by groin and neck injuries in his career but did start 12 games at left tackle in 2006 . . . A probable long-term project, a la Stephen Neal . . . Majored in technical journalism. 6 6 (180) Justin Rogers, DE, SMU Hard worker played 54 career games with Mustangs, registering 123 tackles, including 28 for losses . . . Had 16½ sacks and five forced fumbles . . . Played defensive end for Mustangs . . . Led Team Texas with seven tackles (three for losses) in the inaugural Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Bowl in February . . . SMU biography includes this nugget: An avid hunter, he has killed and skinned coyotes . . . Economics major. 6 28 (202) Mike Richardson, CB, Notre Dame A very intelligent, versatile player, he could play corner, safety, and special teams . . . An excellent tackler, he loves to play run support but is only a marginal cover guy . . . Could develop into a solid contributor, especially in Cover-2 . . . Was a standout track guy (sprints and hurdles) in high school . . . Pays the price when he gambles too often . . . No surprise: Earned a marketing degree and is currently taking graduate courses. 6 34 (208) Justise Hairston, RB, CCSU Rutgers transfer dominated at 1-AA level, rushing for Northeast Conference season record 1,847 yards in ’06 . . . Strong and tough, was equally effective running inside and outside in college . . . Tends to run upright and will have to get lower to be successful . . . He may lack the speed to bounce outside at the NFL level . . . A willing and effective blocker . . . Not a great pass catcher. 6 35 (209) Corey Hilliard, OT, Oklahoma State Massive specimen has played left and right tackle for the Cowboys. Started 24 games on right side the last two seasons . . . Displays good power and footwork . . . Strong work ethic . . . He’ll get beaten on double moves and by quicker defenders . . . At his best when bullrushing forward. Don’t expect much pulling or trapping . . . Will wear down late . . . Education major. 7 1 (211) Oscar Lua, ILB, USC Has a lot of Patriot qualities: He’s tough, tenacious, and intelligent . . . Has been hampered by knee and elbow injuries . . . A hard-working ballhawk, he puts in the hours in the weight room and the film room . . . Lack of height and quickness hampers coverage skills . . . Could end up being a special teams demon in the mold of Larry Izzo and Tully Banta-Cain . . . Idolizes Junior Seau . . . Majored in public policy, management, and planning. 7 37 (247) Mike Elgin, C, Iowa Versatile player is hard working and smart . . . Very athletic, he lettered in basketball and track in high school . . . Relies on his brain more than his braun . . . Lack of initial pop means he often gets overpowered at the point of attack . . . Scouts project him more as a center than a guard . . . Mechanical engineering major.

Since we are putting Pioli in the GM field...then this thread shoud end.

RANDY MOSS for possibly the last pick in the 4th round...check please.

And the 49ers 1st round pick is stealing.

Can we create a separate award, like a Razzie award for worst GM??? If so, I nominate Carl Peterson lol....but I digress....

If I had to choose one I would say....

1. Ted Thompson

2. Phil Savage

3. Scott Pioli

I was just about to post this!!! great minds think alike!!

Gotta go with Polian. Hate the guy, but he let a lot of guys go on that defense and somehow made them better (Jason David, Nick Harper, Cato June, etc). The Colts played in the toughest division in football while the Pats played in the softest division in football. Indy's 13-3 might be just as impressive as New England's 16-0. FYI, Pioli isn't a GM.

Jerry Jones should be mentioned:

Locked up OC Jason Garrett before finding his head coach (seemed crazy at the time)

Brought in Wade Phillips

Signed Leonard Davis to play guard which solidified the line

Traded down in the draft for Cleveland's 1st pick and still got Anthony Spencer (promising pass-rusher to eventually replace Greg Ellis)

Signed Romo long term even after his blistering start for only Marc Bulger type numbers

Plus he's building the greatest stadium to date and won (with help) the rights to host the 2011 Super Bowl.

Now if they can just win some playoff games...

How can a 13-3 be more impressive than 16-0 when the two teams met. And in INDY! :shark:

And if we're saying fantasy league MVPs, I'm voting for me. I won the prestigious SOFA IDP title over 11 other owners :goodposting: . Just tooting my own horn here. Feel free to flame me.

Patience. You'll see in 2 weeks, when the 13-3 team has it's 2 WRs that were out and DE that was out for that game are back. ;)

This is horribly painful as it's coming from a Steeler fan, but...

Pioli and Savage should be the only two names even in contention.

I'd give it to Pioli simply because his decisions had a tremendous impact this season.

Savage has done an excellent job, but his evaluation will hinge on how he handles the Quinn/Anderson situation.

Nobody here thinks Moss made the call on where he wanted to go? If you think not I've got a bridge for sale in Brooklyn.
