FBGs Cecil Lammey and Sigmund Bloom discuss the upcoming NFL Draft

This is our first of many podcasts this season. We are still working out the details to getting the best sound quality, mixing, etc (We are football people and not mixing specialists working in the music industry).

But with our staff of experts and Cecil's radio presence we think we can do great things in this area this year.

As with everything we do this year, these Podcast will be free through July 15th. After July 15th these Podcasts will be available to subscribers only.

I got a sneak preview of this last night.

Cecil and Bloom did an absolutely awesome job. 100 plus minutes of Bloom getting his draft on. Well worth the listen.

24MB per should put a nice load on the severs ;)

This is why we have 5 servers (and soon will have 7). We agree the bandwith will be a lot, but we feel these podcasts are something that we definitely want to be doing more of.

This is awesome. I just turned down the volume on the ESPN mock. That was getting very boring. Bloom and Cecil rule!

:goodposting: Loved every minute of it. Nice job right out of the gate.

Mel Kiper's got nothing on Bloom.

I'm only at the 22 minute mark. Did the sound quality break down for anyone else within the last 5 minutes (17-22 minute mark) or is it just me? It sounds muddier and the sound is at a lower volume.

This was from 3 different recording sessions. Bloom and I ran into different audio problems each time. Sound bounces back around the 27 minute mark. I have Cool Edit Pro and can adjust levels accordingly. Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Sound quality will definitely be improved for the next Podcast.

 This is incredible Cecil. Outstanding work here.

I love the Motely Crue lead in after the first break.
Hed P.E. intro, Motley Crue, 2Pac, Jimmy Eat World, Handsome Boy Modeling School bumps, Anthrax commercial. We've got some other great bumps, intros, commercials for future Podcasts.

Having a listen now, this should be great.

David, just so you know, alot of the most popular podcasts use http://www.libsyn.com to provide their podcast hosting. It's pretty darn cheap for what they are providing, and from what I've heard their uptime has been very solid

That was actually pretty good guys.. I was skeptical at first, but after the listen, I can tell this will be a great addition to the site during the regular season.

How was this going to be used again during the season. Is it like a roundtable discussion at the end of each weeks games to discuss player production, and make projections for the upcoming week? I think that would be awesome..

Roundtable will rock on the Pod.

:lmao:   at Cecil.

Enjoying this so far.
 :nerd:
My thoughts...your style flucuates too much. You come off as an over the top corny guy and then switch into the mode of a professional interviewer with solid questions. Not only do you hear it in your words, it's in the tone of your voice and your vocabulary. "The man, the myth, the legend" and the comments about Kiper's hair just didn't fit the rest of the broadcast. My point is that the overall content and professionalism is something that could easily pass for network quality work, but bits and pieces sound like a couple of guys just goofing around. I think you should pick a direction and stick with it. You can still be funny in a subtle manner as you demostrate in several places. That said...overall

Professional nitpicking at its best.

It's the first one! It's not going to sound perfect on the very first broadcast... Plus, the fact that they appear to joke around sometimes adds to the appeal of it IMO. You don't have to be serious all the time..

Is there anyway you guys can integrate video into your podcasts for those of us who have video ipods? I think that would be good for breaking down game tape on certain key players, that you expect will have good production the following week. Also, you could maybe show some graphs and charts that illustrate your weekly player projections.

great job!

I loved the fact that you guys joked around some time.

It would be too stale if it was serious all the time.

Making a mental note to listen tomorrow because of the length. I guess my suggestion would be to break it up. How or what parts I don't know just trying to give some feedback.

Must be my lack of sleep. Seriously, thanks for the critique BnB. Perhaps because we recorded 3 different times it seems a little out of sync. Glad you enjoyed it!

I would love to do this, having a 60g [black] IPOD I want to get the most out of it. There is one tiny problem, the NFL charges $2,000 per SECOND for highlights. I know this because Jerome Jurenovich and I were tossing around the idea of doing a FF show on Altitude Sports Network last year.

The graphs and charts would fly, but I'm not sure how to video podcast just yet. Probably get the audio podcast down this year and see what the response is.

Lord knows I'm dying to get my fat Mexican head on TV. Check out the pic in my profile to see for yourself!

I want the "regular" podcast to be around 30-45 minutes. "Roundtable" podcasts, and "Draft Specials" will be longer, although we could look into breaking them up. Thanks for the suggestion and hope you enjoy the Podcast! :banned:

Absolutely!
I have a few words that I get stuck on:Certainly :suds:

Exactly

Awesome :nerd:

Here's the deal :football:

Looks like Bloom has one too!

Absolutely!
Here's the deal ... Absolutely Awesome new FBG product, exactly on point ... BLOOM certainly is da MAN, like a FF Geni ... just pull him outta da bottle before you record next time  Great stuff guys!

Cecil-If you get really want to do video messages, check out Visual Communicator. We use this program at work for video messages from management and it is very user friendly. You can also show charts via Powerpoint or JPEG files and also video. Program is easy to use... the only other thing you need is a webcam and a microphone.

Well done guys. Bloom, you are the man! Don't stop, don't back down, don't let off. You are on the right track, my friend. It's only a matter of time before some major sports network finds out about you (Joe B., help him out here  ) Check out a local school for broadcasting & take a couple classes to polish up your skills.

Roundtable is cool idea. You could also do Shark Pool podcasts, call in with questions, dynasty ff, re-draft ff, etc.

(the commericals - lame. sorry)

you have to have quicktime pro to use the rightclick to download the podcast. any way you could post the file to download so we dont have to purchase "pro"?

I want to put this on my Ipod, but can't because i cant download it.

NS, youre a kind man. I always appreciate the encouragement, whether deserved or not.

I'm about halfway through and it's pretty good. I love having something like this to listen to while I'm on the train commuting.

If you ever decide to go the video route (which I think would be fairly pointless actually), setting up some sort of private password protected bittorrent would seem like the way to go on that.

For a little constructive criticism:

Content: A+

Lammey: A+

Bloom: A+

Sound quality 1-12minutes: B-

Sound quality 12-100min: D

Sound effects/sounders: content: C

Sound effects/sounders: volume: F

Length: B+

Overall, it was fantastic. just a few technical issues with the sound and the sounders (amazingly loud). Otherwise, outstanding.

Keep it up guys.
