He is the best Safety in the class by far IMHO, Miami is linked to taking Starks at 13 on a couple sites. I felt like the open hole at Cornerback was even worse so I filled that first

It's an attitude of "look at what I added to my favorite team" for this year instead of a realistic view of what is best for the team long term. ZERO NFL teams would give up a 2026 first to move up 14 spots in the 2nd round to draft a safety in the that round.

If Nick E falls out of the first round - how’s that realistic? He’s likely graded as a round 1 player in every teams board. Giving up a 1st round next year is more an indication of the player than the point system.

Yeah, I don't really think it makes a lot of sense to allow trades. Realistically, yes, there will be trades in the draft, so allowing trades adds realism in that sense. But more importantly, there is 0.0001% chance any specific mock trade takes place in reality. Therefore every pick involved in a mock trade becomes essentially irrelevant to real life since the wrong team will be picking in that spot.

It's like a fantasy projector saying, "well, it's very likely that SOME players are going to be injured and out for the season this year before week 1, so I'm going to select two random players and change their season projections to 0."

As for folks trashing drafting a S in the first round, I call BS. The Ravens got laughed at by football gurus for picking Kyle Hamilton at #14 a few years ago. He's one of the ten best defensive players in the league now and is an amoeba freak that allows them to do things on defense that most teams can't.

I hated that Ravens draft. But it's because unfortunately I am a Browns fan. The Ravens let the draft fall to them and were gifted with 2 studs. That's not what happened here though. This guy could be great and it still wouldn't be a good move. Parlay this year's 2 with a 3 to go get him, justifiable. Next year's 1 on a team not inside a window with a potential fatal flaw on O? Unwise.

Oh, and I expect earnest feedback to be given to me and from others to others. I've not only asked for help on this board from MAC_32 and others in the least subtle of ways (My Newbie IDP Dynasty Thread was populated by many confident and awesomely helpful people that are responsible for helping somebody who would have been awful for years get up to speed a bit), but I've been pulled aside without solicitation on the board and told that I've made a bad trade because of the thought process behind it even when that trade worked out. Dr. Octopus said something ages ago and taught me a lesson I needed to learn about NFL draft capital. There have been way more instances than those; and I cherish them even when I come away looking like less than an expert.

So I'm not for blowing fake smoke up people's asses. I just noticed it was turning a certain way in the thread and wanted to remind people of diplomacy and subtlety. It wasn't just efactor and MAC.

I don't think anyone was criticizing taking a safety that early. It was more of giving up all that draft capital to take a safety at that point in the draft.

Of course when the actual draft happens and if he ends up going top 15, then maybe a different viewpoint.

I've seen many people turn and run and not contribute as much because somebody has misjudged how their words are taken. Been on the board over a decade and watched it repeatedly happen. You could ask Joe about that and I'd bet dollars to donuts that people haven't participated because of that sort of miscalculation.

Man, I have the opposite memory of the Hollywood Brown trade, where I recall most wondering how Baltimore got a 1st for him. I thought both those moves were obvious good moves at the time.

That sounds like a very national pundit, non-Seattle fan comment. Maybe Zabel grades out 6.5 and Egbuka 6.9...like BPA and not for need....losing DK and Lockett for an oft injured Kepp....wait, why the f**k do I need to explain myself. Read the post I made on 18th pick.

It was Emeka, Zabel or Emmenwari at 18 for me. He's there at 34 and it's a no brainer. Tried trading up a few times but my offers consisted of picks that were part of this mock. I see the deals happening for future picks and picks beyond this mock, that gets frustrating. But clarified with MoP that was part of this exercise. My offer for NYG was countered asking for a future 1st. I see a player that could go as high as 13 this year still there. A position of need for Seattle (Coby Bryant coverted CB and Woolen soon out).

The NFL trading rule of thumb is that next year's pick is one round greater than this year's. So if you're trading next year's firsts you're getting this year's seconds. In general.

So a next year's first and this year's 2nd for an early 2nd is a bit rich... But it's all just for fun. And a future first to get what a lot of people think it's a first round guy this year isn't outrageous.

On bolded, I get what your saying, but it's not that simple. So much depends on where that team is likely to finish next year as well. The Seahawks could struggle badly next year if Darnold is a failure, which isn't that far fetched. One of the worst rated OLs in the league and no more Justin Jefferson. So while Largent is upbeat about the Seahawks, this could be a top 10 pick.

It's not unreasonable to think the pick could be top 10. Or bottom 10.
