FBG Staff/Expert Rookie Rankings (1 Viewer)

Forte at RB11? Wow. Redraft OR dynasty he should be much higher than this. He went in the 2nd round and he's only got Benson, Peterson, and Wolfe to compete with. Not a sterling competition.

I think that the kid is extremely talented, and he has the best opportunity to succeed this year.
Oh, I agree. But Jeff's rankings look pretty situation-tilted.ETA - Or maybe not. I'm just not getting these. :lmao:

What bugs me about this is that I really appreciate out of the box thinking and rankings that differ from mine as it forces me to think about why I value a player the way I do. This? Can't even consider it out of the box thinking.

Irks me that this is a member of the FBG staff that has Cory Boyd ranked ahead of Charles, Rice and Forte. Sorry Jeff, snowballs chance in hell you take Cory Boyd over any of those three if your draft is tomorrow. If you do, you shouldn't be staff at FBG any longer. Not much more to say than that.

He only has to beat out 3 RBs with NFL experience. On a CRAPPY offense. I see now why he's money. And Benson went in the 1st round, so by that logic Forte has no shot.

I'm not a big Forte fan. Like I said in the other thread, I think he'll be OK, but not great. We'll see. I think there are other backs that have more talent and opportunity to thrive than him. Perhaps I'm wrong on Forte, we'll see.

Just added my preliminary rookie rankings - LINK Bash away. :lmao:
Forte at 26th, eh?
I don't understand all the Forte love??? He went to a team that already has Benson and AP(2). I think at best he will share carries, and probably not even be the primary ball carrier.
He has the chance to earn the starting job as early as THIS year. Benson has played horribly and had the injury questioning whether it would end his career. Peterson is a nice role player but is a career backup. Wolfe is nothing but a midget ahcnge of pace back. Forte is EASILY in my top 5 rookie RB's for redraft and dynasty.

In addition to the good situation he inherited, I liked what I saw in the limited games I watched. Also, Angelo has already started referring to him as a 'three-down back'. These three factors alone are decent enough to atleast crack rookie RB10 numbers, IMO.

23 RB Cory Boyd, TB 24 RB Jamaal Charles, KC

25 RB Ray Rice, BAL

26 RB Matt Forte, CHI

:lmao:

I have not seen something so crazy in someones rankings since the last time i looked at anything done by Pasquino!!!!
Cory Boyd is going to raise some eyebrows in TB. Earnest Graham was good, but I'm thinking he'll have some competition. Boyd has a chance to beat him out. And who knows about Cadillac?!?

I'll post full rankings in a couple weeks. I have a few drafts to get through before I spill the beans.

Just like Brandon Jackson last year.

Yeah, keep Forte's rank low, so I can trade down and get him later. Chicago fans know Benson is done, Peterson is a special teamer and Wolfe is a gadget back.

You would seriously take the 238th picked player over the 44th,55th,and 73rd overall picks in the draft who play the same position?I know the NFL guys get it wrong sometimes but to completely throw out their evaluations when they see drastic differences in the charles/rice/forte group and Cory Boyd who almost wasn't drafted is pretty out there.

There is almost no comparison in value between the groups.

Yeah, but what about talent? I will admit, i know little about Boyd, but i am guessing there is a reason he went in the 7th round.

Wheel,

I respectfully submit that you have Manningham ranked too high.

He has four (and maybe five) WRs ahead of him on the depth chart, each of whom could tell you who the first President was.

Mainly, concerns that he is a punk who runs with bangers. He had a rough upbringing in Jersey w/o a mother or father.

A few things jumped out at me.

Ranking a Detroit Lion #2. This is a bad organization. Even if Smith turns out to be better than his draft position, the chances that Millen puts a competent team around him to help him succeed is virtually nil.

Ranking Jordy Nelson #32 and the 13th WR. Ted Thompson has drafted WRs in rds 2 or 3 in each of the last 4 drafts.

They are Terrance Murphy (looked great in camp before suffering a career ending injury). Greg Jennings. James Jones. Jordy Nelson. Nelson was the highest draft choice out of the four. There may not be a clear path to the #1, but this is dynasty.

I like out of the box thinking, but paying attention to history will help over the long run.

Which would certainly drop him a bit in the draft, but i have a funny feeling if Darren Mcfadden had the same issues, he would still have been a first round pick. Point being, when you fall to the 7th round, its probably because you do not have the talent to be a successful NFL RB.

It's early, come August, Forte will be the third rookie taken in re-drafts...Benson is done, his knee is shot....

So is Kevin Smith there purely due to situation or are you also a believer in his talent?

I think that the kid is extremely talented, and he has the best opportunity to succeed this year.

You're crazy over Smith but don't like Forte? Is Cedric Benson THAT much better than Tatum Bell?

Oh, i love Bradshaw, but that doesnt mean i am going to start drafting 7th round RB's over guys who where taken in the first 50 picks.

Benson is widely considered to be a bust and he suffered a pretty serious injury last year. Peterson is a lifelong backup. Another poster stated it best, Wolfe is a gadget back. Forte has a chance to be the starting back this year and any starting RB has pretty good value. I see the likelihood of Forte and Smith becoming the starting backs on their teams this year as being pretty close to each other. Both are playing for bad teams on bad offenses with bad starting RB's. For their individual FF fortunes though their situations are both pretty good. With their situations being so similar and Forte going a round higher than Smith, I don't see how Smith is RB2 and Forte RB11.

Wow. Very interesting.

Quite a few I'm curious on, but I'm not sure if you wanted this turned into a discussion thread. Lavelle Hawkins, WR, TEN . 4th WR, 10th overall. Ahead of quite a few big names, looking forward to a little insight with this one.

:goodposting: Forte is the suck.
Now pretend he went to Arizona State...
 I've been pimping Mendenhall for almost a year now...and I hate the Big10 more than most.

Forte might come in and average 3.5...but he's not going to touch 4.0. Kid just has some limitations.

How many aliases does Benson_will_lead_the_way have?
He actually drafted Forte in our league so it'll be Forte_will_lead_the_way soon enough.

Just like Brandon Jackson last year.
All of these guys come with risk. FWIW, Mike McCarthy is super high on Brandon Jackson. He was recently asked what player on his team he expected to improve the most from 2007 to 2008 and he said Jackson. He did contribute down the stretch last year. I'm not saying he'll unseat Ryan Grant but expect to see him do well in 2008.

I like the Chris Johnson ranking...a lot of discussion over whether or not he was a reach, but in PPR leagues he could really make a splash in his rookie season. He'll quickly become VY's outlet.
