OK, Gian has authorized me to post.

As Tom Cruise once said, sometimes you have to say "What the ****." http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/really-daily-star-claim-manchester-united-in-advanced-talks-with-cristiano-ronaldo/

9.3 - Cristiano Ronaldo - MID/FWD/PRIMA DONNA -- Manchester United (maybe?)
Dang, we considered this on the last turn. Would've taken him the next time around.

I think a Bale signing would number CR's days at RM, Perez is going to try and cash in now while he still has some years left on his contract. But I think there's also a chance they try to have them co-exist next year before shipping him off. But definitely a reasonable gamble.

I would hate to see at as a Barça fan, but they have to let those guys play together for at least a season. That would be f'n scary.

FWIW, I think there's less than a 20 percent chance of this happening. So I will take no credit if it works out. I think it's insane to buy Bale and then sell a better player for less than you've spent.

But I'm happy with how the draft has worked out, so I agreed with Gian that the time was right to try the Hail Mary.

OTOH, we need to build depth. With no shared pickups there are no Agueros or Bentekes to fall back on like the past couple years.
This is my first rodeo. So maybe I'm sensing wrong. But I think there's a lot of replacement level players at this point in the draft. I think there are still some iron clad starters at a few positions, but I think picking the EPL player who's already in the league who is likely to hit double digit goals or a 8 and 8 type midfielder at this point is a complete crap shoot.

Monday clock vote is currently at 5-2-1.

Weekly waivers run is scheduled for Fridays 3AM EST. If anybody feels strongly about a different date or time, now would be a good time to speak up.
Saturday games start at 8am EST don't they? They doesn't leave a lot of time for waivers to run and make lineup changes. Or am I missing something?
There are mid-week games, cancelled games double game weeks. This format is going to be a challenge regardless of what settings we use. I hope people are flexible with changes as the season goes on.
The FPL game week cycle always started with the Saturday games. I'm hoping Fantrax handles scheduling the same way.

The 3AM Friday waivers will give teams all of Friday to fill their lineups.

I drafted Michu with pick #104 last year.

This format is new to everyone and very different from last year. I change strategies just about every round. Your strategy is as good as any.

That makes sense. I just saw 3am Friday and thought of it as Friday night 3am. Apparently the concept of time is very confusing to me.

With pick 9.07 Native FC selects Nikola Anelka, FW, PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City, Fenerbache, Bolton, Chelsea, Shanhai Shenhua, Juventus, West Bromwich Albion!

One of the overseas books has Ronaldo at -200 to stay, +300 to join United. So around a 28.5% chance of coming over, if the juice is even on both sides.

Coming over when? This summer or future windows?

I just don't see it. United can't afford him(heard he wants 300k/week NET ool), plus ridiculous marketing rights)) and he wont go to City/Chelsea.

PSG and Monaco have spent enough(maybe :oldunsure: ) in this window as far as big names.

RM need him more than ever because of Barca getting Neymar. They need him AND Bale to compete, not one or the other.

eta: the thought of Bale replacing Ronaldo there made me

I think Neymar's going to take some time. And still, we don't have any idea what's coming for Barca in terms of defensive reinforcements. RM's added Illarramendi and Carvajal, and will have a full year of Varane. I think it's pretty close, and likely to come down to injuries and lack thereof. I was happy to get money down on RM at +140.

And as good as Bale is, that CR and Bale's strengths are so similar, it's going to mute Bale's impact. You can only have one guy kick the free kick, or cut in and advanced left wing position.

LW is his primary role.
He largely had a free role last year. Most of his goals were through the middle or cutting in from the right.

I can't see why they wouldn't play them both as inside forwards with the ability to switch sides. Ronaldo is right-footed and Bale is left footed. Seems pretty ideal.

Let's not forget Isco. I wouldn't be shocked if Madrid sold Ozil. Isco looked amazing against the Galaxy last night. He can affect the game from anywhere. He can hang back and play 40 yd diagonals or he can tuck in behind the striker and create mischief at the top of the box.

I really think he'll win a Ballon D'Or in the next five years.

If there's a player to go, I think it Di Maria, not Ozil imo

Benzema

CR7 Isco/Ozil GB11

Ozil/Isco

Alonso
