FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (5 Viewers)

I also took Stuckey's parlays and threw them all into a Round Robin. Less risk and reward than a straight parlay:

Missouri

Michigan

Pittsburgh

New Mexico

Minnesota

.16u per leg, 26 legs. 5 for 5 pays out about +6.5u.

CBB I have LIU (Jimmy Mad without their best player for the first half), the Anteaters of course and I'm leaning LaSalle. Will also go Stony Brook based on new guy's (dfw) confidence.

I rolled out of bed this morning with a crazy hangover. I ordered a stick to the ribs breakfast from Village Inn (better than Denny's but definitely not elite) and grabbed a bottle of orange juice from the Walgreens next door. So, now I have wolfed down some pancakes, bacon and eggs, and am guzzling a screwdriver (splash of club soda - bubbles.)

In less than two hours, the drive to Vegas begins. I'm relying on you ######s for leans. I'll post any trends I see from the Motherland. Being half-drunk on Wednesday morning before March Madness is kind of the bee's knees. :banned:

Stay strong, LIUguys. Keep swimming against the stream. Do not blink. You are now getting points. Rejoice, be glad and buy some Money Line. Before the news broke about JMU's Rayshawn Goins suspension, the Blackbirds/Dukes tilt was a pick'm when I bought in. This HAS to be because the Blackbirds are not a known commodity, and because they were the 3-Seed in the Northeast Conference who beat the #5 Seed Mount St. Mary's (MD) in the final. Well, that was the same MSM that beat #1 Seed Robert Morris in the semi's. The same Robert Morris that beat Kentucky last night in the NIT. Not that that means much considering that game was probably lost by the Wildcats before it was played, but still...meantime, JMU was the 3-seed in the Colonial, winning by beating #2 Delaware and #1 Northeastern

Let me tell you some things about the Blackbirds: Vet-laden Team, senior heavy, not just vets, but Big Dance vets. Even the lone Junior and the Sophomores have plenty of Tournament experience, and only two rostered guys are Freshmen. Why is this important? Well, how about this. This is the third year in a row that the Blackbirds have won the Northeast Conference Tournament. Which means this is the third year in a row they're in the Big Dance. In 2011, as a 15-seed, they lost by 15 to #2 North Carolina, and last year as a 16-seed, they lost to #1 Michigan State by 21. So, not a strong conference, based on the seeding, but plenty familiar with the limelight. JMU hasn't been there in almost 20 years. All the Senior contribute heavily, including the two best players, F Jamal Olasewere and G CJ Garner, who have been playing together since they were pre-teens. I know this because they played in Silver Spring, MD, right down the street from me. Locals from around here well know their exploits at Springbrook HS...and that lone Junior? None other than Jason Brickman, who leads the entire nation in assists, 8.5 per game. This is Jack Perri's 1st year as head coach, he was the top assistant to the previous HC (now at Duquesne) for the previous 7 years.

The Goins suspension is going to hurt JMU, although he's kind of a wild card that the Coach has had to disciplinarily bench on multiple occasions, so they're used to playing without him, but as much as JMU's game is built around their defense, there is no one on this Dukes Team that defend Olasewere or Garner straight-up, man-to-man, and the Blackbirds ability to turn this into a running shootout should completely take the Dukes out of their game.

Blackbirds, Blackbirds, Blackbirds.

:goodposting:

The Blackbirds' all-time leading scorer is Jamal Olasewere, a 6'7 forward. He scored 18.9 ppg this season, ranks third in his conference in scoring, and fourth in rebounding. At the end of the regular season he ranked second nationally in free-throw attempts with 253 and shoots 69.6 percent from the line. He has shot at least seven free throw attempts in 13 of LIU's 20 wins and is also making his third NCAA tournament appearance in a row for LIU.

LONG ISLAND PK -110

110/100

Buy more.

It's not just Olasewere. It's Garner. Not to mention the Nation's assist leader Blackman.

The Blackbirds can give Indiana a good run, too.

Tailing LIU. Don't let me down, jerks.

I'd also like a lot of posts expressing jealousy over the fact I'll be in Vegas for the first two rounds. Shower me with thattaboys and wishIwereyous.

This is setting up to be a big Tuesday:

LIU 2u, will buy more...

Other plays: Boise St. -1 (bought Sunday PM). This one is real close, were both at full-strength, so I'm only in for an 'action .5u'. I opined before that were the A-10 to play the MWC heads up, I think folks would be surprised with the results and I really like the A-10. LaSalle has great guard play, so critical to Tournament success, but their best post player is banged up, may not play, at best be severely limited, and this plays right into the Cowboys wheelhouse. Great matchup, but all we're asking is Boise to just win vs a banged up LaSalle front court. Again, just a small action play.

7PM:

NIT - UNC-Charlotte +8.5 @ Providence / Stony Brook +4 @ U. Mass.

Here we get Atlantic 10 vs Big East, but at this level the Teams are much more on a level field. Charlotte getting this many is surprising. There are more enticing plays, but I want in on this, so only .5u...

Another middle of the pack A-10 Team, playing the #1 Seed in the America East Tournament, who was surprisingly ousted in the AE Semi's by eventual Champ 4-seed Albany. I watched that game, and the Champ Game where Albany knocked out Vermont, and am pretty convinced that it was just one of those things where a team gets hot at the right time. Had Stony Brook won this Tournament, they could have been a 13-seed. The Seawolves are balanced and versatile, play stifling defense (32 in the nation per Pomeroy) and their low post guy Jameel Warney is going to be a matchup nightmare on both ends for the Minutemen. Stony Brook +4 1u, considering some ML as well (+165)...

CBI - Tulsa @ Wright State -5.5 - After Memphis, So. Miss. and UTEP, the CUSA bottoms out pretty quickly. Meanwhile, Wright State was a contender for the Horizon League, beating Detroit in the semi's and staying close to Valpo in the Final. They play Big Dance caliber D, and should be motivated to play against a weak power conference squad. 1u.

North Dakota State Pick'em @ Western Michigan - MAC has more notoriety, but this Western Michigan Team isn't among the elites who were all in the other Division. North Dakota State was the 3-seed in the Summit League who knocked out #2 W. Illinois and gave #1 SD State a run for their money in the Final. They have a stud in Taylor Braun, and are another team on the outside looking in with a Big Dance caliber defense. NDSU for 1u.

Fairfield @ Kent State -5 - The Golden Flashes can absolutely blow the doors off the Stags, who weren't even a contender for the MAAC Title. Kent State not only has a dynamnic duo in Chris Evans and Randal Holt who combine for over 30ppg, but they completely shred it from 3-point land. Shred it. Kent State -5 2u.

There will be more...

ETA, I'm going to be on Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Detroit, for sure. Yes, Detriot. Somebody get me a Doctor!

It really stinks that Illinois State and Jackie Carmichael don't appear to be playing in any of these post-season Tournaments. If you don't know who this kid is, google some video. He's really special, and that's what these Not Invited Tournaments should be showcasing. Not only 'almost' programs, but good stories and prime-time players. Shame.

Im on Jim Madison since Nittany and everyone else likes the Blackbirds.
You are OUT of our social club. Openly rooting against members is cause for a lifetime ban according to our charter.
To his point, I'm absolutely sure that my record when I get really, Really REALLY excited about a college basketball game is sub-.500, so I, somewhat sheepishly have to admit that I don't take offense...

Driving to Vegas tonight, so here are my picks for 3/21 since I'll be busy in the morning. I also updated my picks for 3/20 on my last post because of the updated lines.

Anyway:

NCAA

St. Marys -1

Michigan -11

Syracuse -12.5

NIT

Denver +4

Strongest play for me is Denver.

Sweet, just flipped on the tube to catch some of the LIU/JMU game. Only 9 minutes in and LIU has made up 8 of the 20 points they spotted JMU before the tip. Only 12 more to hit on 2 of the 4 unit I have in this game (2 1h/2 gm). Lets go LIUs!
