FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (8 Viewers)

Anyone want to offer some insight/analysis on why they think SDSU should beat/cover UConn tonight?

I ask because courtesy of the Big East Tournament, UConn owes me a lot of money. I absolutely do not want to miss out on an opportunity to collect some of that back at their expense.

I'm in for many units on Florida already, and I'm absolutely NOT viewing SDSU/UConn game with any objectivity, since I have an agenda involving SDSU covering, but I do like SDSU here a lot...I'm just not sure I like them for the right reasons because I WANT to like them, which might be (IS) skewing my perspective.

Sure could use some convincing. TIA.

BTW in regards to Florida, their bigs, led by Chandler Parsons, and Billy Donovan seeing this mismatch and exploiting it to the Gators advtantage are the reasons I think Florida will take out BYU. Last year's matchup between the two carries some weight for me too. BYU ousted Florida in a 1st Round upset in last year's Tournament. The Gators have been carrying that one around for a year, and are looking for revenge. They're more athletic and deeper, and are finding multiple ways to win.

Good Luck, Fellas!

I'm a big subscriber to SPT in Conference Play, Conference Tournaments, and the 1st two rounds of the Dance. It's my opinion that Sweet 16 and on, it's more about supporting cast and Coaching. I think SDSU's Leonard is a better player than Kemba Walker, but they are basically a push. UConn has the better Coaching, but I haven't seen much of anything special about UConn's other starting 4 or their bench, and I think SDSU's counterparts are equal or better. So I'm torn.

I'm playing 2 units on the Aztecs tonight. Other than Walker, UCONN is young, and while SDSU doesn't have extremely skilled players, they're atheletic and NOT scared. 34-2 doesn't lie. Gay actually matches up with Walker well, better than the bigger more physical PGs from Temple.

Biggest game in San Diego college sports history? LETS GO 'TECS!

Kansas to win southwest region -265 at greek-700 ML against richmond and i have them as a similar favorite over fsu/vcu, roughly -600. Parlaying those 2 is -300 so there's some value at -265. This opened at -285 and was a no bet for me but moved to -245 and I jumped on it, still good at -265.
I tailed you on KU -265. It's at -280 now.Another prop I just hit at greek: Largest lead of KU/Richmond game UNDER 18.5 points -130. I think KU wins this game by 8-10, but I don't see it ever getting out of hand. Richmond is a slow pace team who will try to grind it out with good shot selection and positional defense if they get behind, rather than try to press and launch threes. This is also the best value on the board IMO to take out some "fan insurance" without directly betting against my team. I know this thread likes their SDSU, but I'm on the UConn ML +105.
I'm one who's been on the SDSU train, but I don't feel good about them at this stage. I posted in the viewing thread that Gay (and guard play) will be their downfall, along with their constant lapses. They don't play 40 of solid ball and it's going to bite them. Is today the day, I don't know, but it's going to get them beat, unfortunately. Back to Gay. Fisher knows how key he is for them to get to the top and so he's said all year how important he is. He's done everything to get the kid's game to rise, to give him confidence and whatnot. But Gay's just not that good. Hell, he has trouble shooting.I am about to go the other way now (UCONN) as I see they are getting 2?! Damn. Maybe halftime, I don't know.

OMG, and on cue, TgnZ comes to play! And defend Gay, who I was just ripping!! This could be :moneybag: :moneybag: :moneybag: !!!

ETA UCONN up to 2 1/2??? DONE.

Gay can't shoot, but he's a capable defender. Not saying he'll shut down Walker, but this isn't a Westbrook vs. DFish mis-match physically. Glad to see you're off the bandwagon Sonny. We don't need fair-weather fans like you anyway. :bye:

:D CSU is all that matters, so I have no problem taking a shot here all of a sudden getting 3 more points than last night. Look, I would still LOVE to see SDSU keep winning and it's not a big play so nothing to lose really. FLORIDA, however, that's another story...As I type, GAY misses 2 shots badly, lol.

Kemba 1-5 thus far, Gay all over him.

Chomp, chomp, chomp...

That was a HUGE cash out, so...Duke ML -600

Also in on the Badgers. This is not the same Butler Team that lost to Duke in the 2010 Finals.

This Butler team has cost me so much money the last 2 years in the tourney it makes me sick and here I am again tonight with my largest bet on wisconsin. I'm having flashbacks to last years tourney when butler eliminated syracuse.

Being reported on CLTV (chicagoland tv) that the White Sox lineup today against the cubs will be saturated with starters. Might be worth a peak.

edit: now i'm a little confused. sox playing diamondbacks not the cubs and i don't see a line for the game. disregard.

Haven't bet anything on tonights games...probably a good thing considering the way things have been going.

Leaning UNC -4 and Kentucky +6

Kentucky +6 seems like an overreaction to the dominating OSU performance last Sunday, they looked untouchable. Opened at 4.5 and has moved to 6, looks like it might be moving back to 5.5 shortly.

UNC has been been leaning back towards 4 all week and I've been waiting, its there now, don't think we'll see 3.5

Teasing again:

KY +10

Marquette +8

2u to win 1.8u

Arizona +7

Florida +1

FloridaSt PK

Kentucky +10

2u to win 6u

I deserve to be flogged for this, so if anyone wants to ridicule me, please do so. Not for the plays themselves, but I'm getting into a lather, rinse, repeat habit of giving back winnings to the house.I killed it with Kent State on Monday, which was a game I spent plenty of time capping, and then gave back over half my winnings on not necessarily impulsive, but certainly not well thought out wagers involving Ohio U, Buffalo U, and San Francisco.Again last night, after putting every penny in my account on Florida, and just missing getting nicked, I handed back about 75% of it. Betting the Duke ML was just being greedy, and I'd do it again. Sharps bet Arizona handily, but no one expected an outright victory, but I should have stayed off the Badgers, who haven't exactly been winning handily lately...Now, again I'm going to perscribe to the theory that every Team playing tonight watched last night's Games, and good coaching by good Coaches is one of the keys to analyzing tonight's matchups.I think there's little to no chance that either Ohio State or Kansas loses tonight, but will they cover.I also like Roy Williams here......and I think tonight is the end of the VCU Cinderella story. VCU had a great showing in their 1st 4 Game, beating USC soundly. Since then, you could argue that rather than being a Cinderella, they've done exactly what they should be doing - beating an ailing Georgetown and a quite possibly even more banged up Purdue. Now we have a 10-11 matchup for an Elite 8 Berth, and people are conjuring up images of Baylor and Butler, and look - right down the road we have a REAL darling in Richmond. Well, Richmond is legit like Xavier and Gonzaga. I don't think VCU fits that paradigm. As time goes by, Chris Singleton gets healthier and healthier for FSU, and he's not only one of the best lockdown defenders in the nation, Florida's Defense is strong without him, and an absolute monster with him. Bradford Burgess and Brandon Rozzell are merely above average players, and Joey Rodriguez isn't going to repeat his zero turnover showing vs Purdue tonight. FSU is not only deeper, quicker, stronger, longer and more athletic than VCU, they're all of those things more than USC, Georgetown and Purdue. This is being lined as a 10 vs an 11, but it's that only on paper. Pound the Seminoles in the nightcap, and hit the sack a fat cat.Richmond, you have to watch out for, but they aren't beating Kansas, especially after last night's showing by Duke. The line may be off, but it may not be. All I feel sure about is that given the scenario, Kansas is winning this game, and I'm getting my money back that I lost on Duke. ML (-750).Roy Williams will have the Tar Heels prepped to cover -4.Ohio State has just too many weapons for Kentucky's Frosh Phenoms. Athleticism can only get you so far before Veteran Savvy takes over. Kentucky's time is 2012.Good Luck!!!

VCU +4.5

Richmond +10.5

Richmond +500 .5u

I don't really want to touch the OSU/UK game but would be open to playing the total there.

Just laid my plays:

Healthy wager on North Carolina, healthier one on FSU. I'd really like some of you folks betting VCU unpack your side, if you'd care to. I think I'm seeing this one very clearly, and nothing I've looked at puts VCU in a favorable light in this matchup.

Kansas ML (-750). IN. (Yikes!)

UNC/OSU/Kansas ML Parlay - each $100 wagered nets $135...

I'm backing Santa Clara @ SMU - some ML, backed up with some +4. I was very on the San Francisco Dons this Season, and wagered against Santa Clara the other night - forgot they were conference rivals and that SF had beaten them twice in close games earlier this Season. Both Santa Clara and San Francisco are better overall Teams than SMU, but it's a home game for the Mustangs, so they're getting points. With the Dance Matchups on tonight, this one is flying under the radar, but it's worth a look for me.

Good Luck, Fellas!

Man, admittedly its been a looooong week at work, but this Santa Clara/SMU analysis is like a brain teaser.

Florida State played their best offensive game all year vs Notre Dame, they turn the ball over more than any team left in the tournament and VCU is long and has a great PG. I think this line is pretty tight but people are still sleeping on VCU IMO, they are not a Cinderella they are a complete team and they will certainly hang with FSU tonight. :2cents:

Sorry, been a long one for me too, should have made that clearer.

A few nights ago, Santa Clara played San Francisco. I bet SF and lost. Not much , but a loss nonetheless, and directly due to me not doing enough homework. One thing I forgot was that Santa Clara and SF are in the same Conference, and that SF had beaten SC both times they played in conference. Given those games, it was just not wise to bet SF as a very short favorite to do it again, and they didn't. It would have been better for me to just lay off. Anyway, both SF and SC are, IMO, superior Teams to tonight's opponent SMU. I played San Francisco for more than a few covers this season, and Santa Clara is a very similar Team. I think either one could beat SMU straight up, and I think the only reason SMU is giving points here is because it's being played on their home court. This game isn't seeing nearly as much action with the Sweet 16 going on tonight, but it might be a better opportunity to profit than some of those games.

I sure wish I was a more disciplined bettor these days.
