I grabbed the Phils -165 last night and the Phils -1.5 -130 today just before the game started. I think Cole will hold the Nats down well, he is very motivated and his arm is a lot fresher then it was all of last year. Add Lidge still on the DL, and we have a win

On Phils -158 big.

My only goal this baseball season is to get the best line on the games i play. i felt that the line on this game just got a little out of control so i jumped on the nats at 180. i know philly is the far superior team. also leaning on the fact that this early in the season the starting pitchers are on a tight leash(why i played baltimore again tonight)baseball is such a long grind....3 days in and i'm already struggling to keep up...sides, totals, team totals, 1st five, props

+180 was a great line, and Hamels hasn't been as sharp as I expected. Best way to survive the baseball season is to never take anything worse that -150. I've broke that rule about 3 times now in the first three games and will have to get better about reining it in.

I have some NHL plays I like tonight based on the playoff possibilites.

San Jose -175 vs. Vancouver San Jose is fighting Chicago for the #1 seed while Vancouver is locked in as the #3. SJ is great at home, Vancouver not so good away.

LA Kings -165 vs. Phoenix Phoenix is locked as the #4. Right now a red-hot Detroit is #5 tied with Nashville and LA 1 point behind. If I'm Phoenix I'd rather meet LA or Nashville than Detroit in the playoffs. LA could move up with a win.

Calgary/Minnesota over 5 -135

Anaheim/Dallas over 5.5 -125 These teams are all eliminated so likely to be playing loose up tempo hockey.

Pittsburgh -220 vs New York Islanders Pittsburgh can clinch home ice, possibly move up, and go into the playoffs with some momentum against eliminated the NYI.

Anybody else have an opinion?

I think you may be giving up way too much chalk in betting three heavy favorites like that, especially this late in the season. I stopped on most of my hockey plays a week or so ago. 1 of those loses and you don't have much profit to show for all that risk. 2 losses and you'll be kicking yourself.

Chicago has plenty of lefties to give Masterson fits. Look for Pierre to actually get in scoring position a couple times tonight. Floyd is money at home.

I believe the hype on Matsuz. Orioles hit >.350 against Niemann last year and Roberts, Wieters, and Markakis did even better.

Tailing, depending how the night goes, I'm on the CWS very heavy.

Also on the Bulls -2 tonight. It's almost like Cleveland wants Chicago in the playoffs after overusing Lebron last night to secure a big win. Cleveland has already secured the best record, look for Lebron to take most of the night off and for the rest of the guys not to extend themselves too much. I took the under 196 as well. Cleveland should do everything they can do keep the tempo down. They want to game steam and confidence, not captain an emotional rollercoaster into the playoffs.

i like the Kings in this spot quite a bit, but i grabbed Kings -1.5 +170. This LA team this year can really light up the scoreboard at times, and here is hoping one of those nights is tonight

Should be a blowout. Porcello had a terrific spring. Cleveland went to the bullpen early last night and taxed them for 6 innings. These guys aren't the most standout group to begin with. What's the back up plan for today? Laffey? Huff is a little bulldog of a pitcher but Ordonez is in top form and Miggy is looky great.

He went off at the highest odds i have ever seen him at in a long time. 5/1 @ sportsbook. Last night they reposted odds after the 1st round and he was 2.5/1. In for 20 on him and 20 on phil at 5/1.

On another note, I've been buying into futures on the blackhawks winning it all this yr. Made a few plays earlier in the yr @ 6/1 and 7/1. Most of the season they were at 4/1 and i bought some more. They then went to 3/1, but now have gone up to 5/1 the last few weeks(san jose battling them for best record). I really think this is our year. The kids are primed.

Good point, I don't worry about rollover because I play enough to get thru but it should be taken into consideration.

Yup. Just ask Clorox and some of the rest of us at betus how the rollover can get a little tricky. I forget what they had me at to rollover, but i believe Clorox is still fighting through his.

I do not follow Arena football too much, but my only guess is that there aren't many people who play the games, and those that do seem to be all on the same side. The Spokane vs. Utah one has to be one of the biggest swings i have ever seen

No answers.....found some info elsewhere stating that the linesmakers themselves have admitted to having no idea what the lines should be, they just throw a number out there and let the bettors correct it. It's hard to find any info on these games/players. I couldn't even find a source for live scores friday night. The odd thing is the books have ok limits on these games. Think there's a nice opportunity here, just need to find more info.

I'm so tempted to put 1 unit on every underdog, every day. I always say it, but I never do it. I'm convinced it would make money.

I made the same play as modogg. Seemed like it had the most value on today's card.

Its much easier trying to find value in teams #3 and #4 starters and how they match up then taking the chalk on their ace. Bullpens generally aren't factored in strong enough to make them profitable. No such thing as a lock in baseball and I try everything in my power to stay away from anything worse than -150 and will take a chance on just about anything better than +150 if it makes even a little bit of sense.

i made some money yesterday, so let me begin the path to lose it:

Phillies -1.5 (RL) (-135)

Seems like a bit of a sucker bet, because it seems obvious that Halladay and the Phils bats should absolutely destroy the Astros. Good place for the Phils to have a letdown game, but i have to think they light up Oswalt today, and not everybody on that team will have a letdown day

I hear ya both. I really wanted to put some money on the Phillies tomorrow because I am going to the game, but laying -270 just doesn't seem like a good play at all. i like Hamels this year, but he wasn't as sharp as i had hoped he would be for the first game, and that kind of chalk is no fun. i may put the Phils in a parlay or 2 for chump change, but i too am a strong supporter of not playing the -150 lines a whole lot either.
