FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (2 Viewers)

Checked my mail last night to see a check returned from my Credit Union I received from matchbook.

Was not a large amount <1000.

marked simply "Return Reason- S Refer To Maker"

"This is a legal copy of your check. You can use it the same way you would use an original check."

It's a BoA check, Account belongs to Webmaster checks. Along with a $10 return fee. WTF? I've never heard of anyone having this problem. Did my bank go out of it's way to screw with me? Do I call matchbook. Webmasterchecks?

If it's a BoA check I'd see if there's a local BoA branch close to you that will cash it. If it's less than 1k you shouldn't have a problem cashing it at the bank of origin. They might request fingerprints(my local BoA did when I tried to cash a check there). If they won't cash it I'd contact your credit union and ask why it was rejected and then contact matchbook and tell them why you're bank rejected it and figure out how to fix it.

Cool.I checked out webmasterchecks and they seemed 100% legit. I left a message on someone's voicemail giving me their first and last name. I also filled out an online form and received a case number and name of case manager immediately. Seems like this should be able to get fixed easy enough.Just sucks when your bank makes you feel like a scammer. Especially when working in an industry where reputation is everything.

I've cashed some pretty shady looking checks over the years from all parts of this lovely world. Credit Unions are usually money with this type of stuff. Banks get real uptight when cashing foreign checks. A few years ago my credit union put a 30 day hold on one check. I've found the best way to deposit offshore checks is the ATM. Depositing in person solicits questions and odd looks when they process the check. I am a little lucky that I'm on the US/Canadian border so the canadian checks are pretty common. A few years ago I received a handwritten check from an offshore that looked like a personal check :lmao:If the option is there I always choose bankwire now. It's so much easier.

30 day hold is pretty serious. A few months ago after unloading everything offshore, I walked into my credit card union with 6-7 checks from different places totaling well over 5 figures. Lady gave me a few odd looks and placed them on a 20 day hold or something - I kept waiting for the question, "so what do you do." They all cleared and were fine.

Great thread, I just started betting online for the hockey playoffs.

Bruins to win the Buffalo, +150

Canadiens money line +255. Put a 100 units on that one

I got the Utah jazz tonight at +280 on the money line, did 200 units on that one.

Matchbook doesn't give that option. Warning to anyone else withdrawing from offshore accounts: This was the message I got back from Webmaster checks:Hi XXX, our accounts are currently frozen and we are unable to re-issue any checks at this time. Please refer to your sponsor program on how they are dealing with re-issues. Sorry for this inconvenience.Kind Regards,Webmasterchecks Support

I would come out of retirement and bet Sharks -122 series vs the Wings. Is that price series? The Sharks played really well in rd 1, gift wrapping one win after dropping the first game. I don't like the fact Detroit and their tired legs went to a 7th game. Sharks big.

yuck. I don't currently have matchbook funded.....they used to book to book transfer to every major book out there. Transfer to 5dimes or betjam(both great baseball books), hit the rollover requirement and cash out that way if matchbook gives you trouble.

Matchbook support was very easy to work with. They said just e-mail them a copy of the returned check and they would issue another one immediately, they would also refund any bank fees as well as the initial withdrawal fee. I'm working on getting that all scanned in now. I'm very thankful they were so cool about it. :bowtie:

I think thats a great price too. The wings are getting too much credit for that late season run.

Greek has it at -115, just bet it there myself.

Matchbook has it down to -110. So I guess I'm in as well. Had my entire online account riding on the Colorado series and I'm not sure if the win was worth the sweat.

Tailing for 3u ####in Habs screwed up our Caps futures bet.

Just seen that San Jose is 8-36 lifetime @ Detroit.

Ouch, but they are clearly the most talented team left.
Meaningless stat, how many of the players on THIS sharks team are part of that record?Where's GooRoo on this? He's pretty good at ignoring his bias for the wings

I have my Wings West future at +1000 and am comfortable with that. I'm not playing the Wings here and I'm not hedging anything off with SJ. The Wings match up extremely well with SJ. I've watched every Wings/Sharks game this year and felt Detroit was the better hockey team on all 4 of those days. I don't believe SJ has more talent than the Wings as posted earlier. Even if they did, talent alone often does not win playoff hockey games, just ask Washington. There wasn't a larger talent disparity in the playoffs this year than Caps/Habs. SJ is a nice team but I see nothing here that would say that they have an edge. Talent is close, experience is close, head-to-head history edge Detroit, coaching edge Detroit.

Talent not close, imo (edge SJ). Experience is not close though either (big edge Wings). SJ has never done anything in playoffs, which certainly worries. Nonetheless, from what I have watched this year SJ the best team in the playoffs, getting home ice, only laying -115. Seems good to me.

Much appreciated analysis as always GR.

GooRoo didn't mention home-ice as an edge, not that it matters a ton. I played the Sharks.
Fair point. I did see Detroit go into the tank and beat them 4-1 and 4-2 this year. SJ was 27-6 (0-2 against Det) reg. season and 2-1 playoffs at home this year though, so they're doing something right. Detroit seemed comfortable at Phoenix last series. Without a shadow of doubt they looked better on the road than at home. But home-ice has to mean at least a little something you'd think. Again, I'm not suggesting a Detroit play, but the overwhelming support for SJ and the 14 star locks and such are not warranted IMO. I think the line is set very well.

What about the fatigue with Detroit, someone was saying? Not a hockey guy, so curious.

Also, I'm gonna bet the Canucks. Thoughts? Just kinda nibbling on some plays of late (bored). Playoff hockey is good action.

UPDATE:They are mailing me a new check, which includes all fees via courier today. Already provided with tracking number.A+ service, as I don't think they had much control over those accounts being frozen.

Sonny, the fatigue factor has been brought up with Detroit alot in the past, they've played deep into the playoffs over the last handful of years, alot of olympic players, etc. IMO, and many Detroit fans either disagree with this or don't want to believe it, but I think Lidstrom is the only guy that looks like he's lost a step or two. Detroit finished as low as they did in the standings because a large amount of players missed a large amount of time during the regular season, which helps their cause when you talk about wear and tear over the course of a season. If you look at the regular season, no team in hockey was as hot as Detroit going down the stretch, if they were fatigued, you wouldn't think that would be the case. Phoenix pushed them to the brink, but I don't think many people would argue that game 7 was easily the best game (playoff or not) that Detroit has played in awhile...again, if they were so fatigued, how did they play so well? Also, with the big lead in game 7, they were able to play their 3rd and 4th lines a bit more and give some of their forwards some rest. My only concern with Detroit right now is their defense. I believe that Lidstrom is slipping a bit and I'm not to thrilled with the defensive play of guys like Rafalski, Kronwall, and Stuart.

I wish Jennings hadn't played so well in this bucks/hawks series. It's so irritating to see him play like this in a playoff game and have tyreke at home winning the ROY award.

Seriously, I think they confuse me with some other member with a similar name or acct. # or something. As for the Phillies, i think i bet on them like 3 or 4 times. I completely agree that they are not a good bet these days until the bats heat up. I am happy they are having a rough April (they do almost every year) because their lines were starting out a little heavier then i was hoping for. I am hoping they have some good value in May and can go on a roll, right now they are a hard team to predict.
I think it's going to be tough to get any value out of phillies lines this year. They're a pretty heavy favorite to represent the NL in the world series. As a Mets fan I hope they keep stinkin it up, 2 runs against wellemeyer. Howard was great last night, thrown out at 2nd as he glides in standing up(THANKS FOR THE GIANT CONTRACT) and then hits the same ball later in the game and stops at first :lmao:
:lmao: I always wanted to see Pat Burrel and Howard race. Throw John Kruk in there, and it could be a hell of a long race. That contract they gave him is a strange one, the only thing i am thinking is that they gave it to him now, knowing that Pujols, et. al. would ask for more. Does help out teams like the Yanks because Fielder, Pujols, and Gonzalez can probably ask for more then Howard. This is basically Howard's last big contract. I don't know why they gave it to him, but i have to put faith in the Phils front office because they have done a great job. Maybe it was a sign to the rest of the team about loyalty or something, who knows. And this weekend will be an interesting one. I may swarm the under on the Halladay-Pelfrey game, but outside of that it will be a good tegst for both teams. I have to look a little more into that under, but i have to think Halladay will come out smoking after a hiccup last game

NYM +140 tonight :wall:

Ari/Cubs over/under set at 14. And the Cubs starter has an ERA of 2.49.
I thought it was a typo. Huge winds here in chicago coming out of the south. Pretty sure that means its blowing from home plate out, if my sense of direction and the park are right. I think they are. VERY WINDY. Blow You over Windy.

It totally sucks the story GR told about the Greek screwing him with the NFL draft prop.

But I gotta tell ya... I called for a payout yesterday morning at 11am. Nothing gigantic, a little over $1,100. I asked for a check via FedEx, which costs $35. They tell you it will be there within 4 business days. The FedEx guy was on my doorstep this morning at 10am... 23 hours after I called. Incredible.

I thought 13 was a little out of whack with Lilly throwing yesterday. 18 runs later, guess not
I played the o13 yesterday because of the winds....yesterdays dbacks pitcher kennedy was/is a fly ball pitcher....cubs only hit 1hr but dbacks raked. Analysis of the game was wrong but I'll take the W. Not touching the total today but I am on the cubs -157

GR caught it and they cancelled his bets. The shady part was calling them out on it after the wagers were graded and them playing dumb and stating ESPN was used to grade all wagers. They changed the bet AFTER wagers were placed, those should be cancelled.Good shop if you bet sides/totals. If you bet anything obscure(smaller markets, props) they'll cut you. They accused me of working with other players to beat their max limits. I wasn't but no way I could prove that. I've learned that this is common practice for them. Another player at SBR went thru the same cycle with them of being accused of working with other players. That being said they were one of the few shops that didn't cut me on CBB totals this winter. They took the beating like a man and even increased the max bets come tourney time.

Nuggets +6.5(-105) 3u

line opened at 3.5 and has moved to 6.5 with the entire world on the jazz. no nene for the nuggets, the team is fighting and they're on the road where utah is untouchable. everything points to the jazz.

pretty secure with this one:

Mayweather by decision -175

Not saying i like it, but Mosley won't quit and ?Floyd will dance to a decision

Sort of funny story.

I actually had some good luck last night.

I bet the Lakers earlier in the day at Pick Em on sportsbook.com. A very big bet for me. One of the largest I've ever made. Towards the end of the game since it was a 1 point game, I logged back in to make sure it was a pick em and not +1. apparently I clicked the confirmation button twice because I had 2 separate bets in for that high amount. I started ####ting myself because Lakers were down 3 at that point.

Needless to say, I was happy that Pau Gasol (who is my most hated player) got that put back at the end.

Anyway, sometimes luck goes your way.

:goodposting: This is why i really hate the Mets. What a bunch of losers. The under made a lot of sense today, and the Mets had to screw it all up. 10-0?? :hot: EDIT: Funny stuff, I am 0-3 betting on Halladay's games this season now.

Nice!

GooRoo, any thoughts on the Wings/Sharks side or total?

Or player -v- player props at the Greek if those aren't your "premium" selections?
