FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (5 Viewers)

I am all over the place

Jets(NewYork) +10.5

Bears(Chicago) +10.5

Steelers(Pittsburgh) +3.5

Packers(GreenBay) +3.5

Jets(NewYork) +155

Jets(NewYork) +4

Packers(GreenBay) -175

the last few I grabbed on Sunday night. Got dicked on the Jets ML.

Some notes wrt to Steelers-Jets:

- In their first meeting this year when the Jets won in Pittsburgh, the Steelers still had a chance to win on the last play as time expired.

- Poluamalu, the most important player on the Steelers other than Big Ben, didn't play that game. Neither did Heath Miller. Both should play this game, although Troy hadn't practiced as of yesterday and I haven't heard anything about his participation yet today.

- The Jets have one of the worst kickers in the league in Folk, and he'll be playing on the toughest field for kickers

- The Jets rushed for 106 yards in the first meeting, which is the most the Steelers have given up on the ground to any opponent this season. But keep in mind that Troy P. didn't play in that game.

- The Jets seem to think they'll be able to confuse the big rookie Pouncey, but he was fine in the first game by all accounts I've seen.

- Revis covered Ward exclusively during the first meeting. No idea who he'll be covering this weekend.

Took Steelers -3 and got Packers +650 to win the NFC conference before the Atlanta game, so I'm staying off that game and no hedge.

Paluuumaaloo didn't look like himself last week imo. Bad angles and bad tackles, galore.

Ok, here's an update on who Revis will be covering. Useful if you're going to bet props on these guys. Per PFT:

Darrelle Revis preparing for man coverage on Hines WardPosted by Michael David Smith on January 21, 2011, 2:49 PM ESTHines Ward can get ready to visit Revis Island on Sunday.Although Jets coach Rex Ryan is staying tight-lipped about how he’ll use star cornerback Darrelle Revis against the Steelers, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the Jets are practicing for Revis covering Ward and Antonio Cromartie covering Mike Wallace. In other words, the Jets view Ward as the Steelers’ best receiver and want their best cornerback on him.As Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News has pointed out, that means the Jets will continue to do what they did in their regular-season meeting with the Steelers, when Cromartie was burned by Wallace to the tune of 110 yards, but Revis generally held Ward in check.Ward is trying to stay optimistic as he prepares to go against the best cornerback in football.“Can he be beaten? Yeah, he can be beaten,” Ward said of Revis. “But at the same time he’s one of those guys you don’t want to mess with. If you make a mistake he’s a game-changer. A lot of quarterbacks just stay a away from him. So as a wide receiver you can get frustrated, because you’re not even getting looked at when he’s covering you.”Look for Revis to frustrate Ward again on Sunday. And look for Ben Roethlisberger to try to find Wallace deep downfield.

Agreed. Clark was definitely the best player on Pittsburgh last week.

Cromartie is a much better matchup against Wallace then Revis is. Cromartie not as good of a "cover" corner then Revis is. Ward runs all types of routes, Revis is good at that. If Revis has a weakness it's dealing with the fast WRs like Randy Moss. Cromartie faster then Revis and taller with longer arms which helps on the longer routes.

I am looking to bet Wallace unders/no td props. Same with Ward though.

Do you guys ever do this? As in right now, if someone asked me for each side -- a gut feeling if you will -- what would I say? It would be to take Chicago ML in a par to Pitt laying whatever. That's the play.

Last six CHI/GB games have been under. :goodposting:
so there should be a course correction here, right... ;)
I'm really struggling to find a reason not to bet the under in Chi-GB. And IIRC, 7 of the 23 points the Bears have scored vs. Green Bay this year was on a Devin Hester return.
The Chicago defense has been kryptonite to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this year. In 21 possessions (not counting end-of-game kneeldowns), Rodgers has led three touchdown and two field-goal drives. The other 16 have resulted in zero points, including 11 punts and two interceptions. In 16 games this regular and postseason against everyone else, Green Bay has averaged 26.9 points; against the Bears, Packer points per game are half of that: 13.5.

The Bears haven't been any better, scoring 23 points in eight quarters against a Green Bay defense they have struggled to figure out.

If I was GB I might consider giving the Bears the ball at the 40 rather than let Hester score their points for them.
Hester doesn't return kicks.
 He returned one last week and 12 during the year and averaged 35 yards a return.Granted he doesn't do it a lot, but they'll be lining him up back there. They'd be crazy not to.
He returned it on a reverse if I recall. So he ran back 12 during the year, that's not even one per game. I agree they should line him up back there but for some reason they haven't been.

I laid -115 a WC team will win the Sb. If GB makes it automatically this wager will be very good as they will be favs against either AFC team. And I am pro-Jets this weekend so if they get there and face Chicago they will be favorites. Only combo that isn't good is Pitt/CHC obviously and odds of that is a tad more then 3 to 1.

My hockey prop buddy has a three star play tonight - Stars Under 27.5 shots.

He is also on the Buff O 33.5 shots, and his value play is a Weiss point yes +140 for two units.

He does not normaly like to bet sides or totals, but he also likes the over 5.5 in the Buff/NYI game - 2 units.

I'm on the the under 3.5 FG in this game for -165 for 2 units.I took GB -3.5 and Under 39 NYJ/Pitt. Other then these 3 things I don't like a whole lot this weekend.

My Hockey Prop pal has his third four star play of the past 30 days, and he is calling this one more of a 5 star.

Colorado O 30.5 shots. It started at -115 and it's already up to -140 at sportsbook.

"I think alot would have to go wrong for them not to have >34 shots today".

I got 31.5 -140 right before it moved
Hope you guys are right on this. I put 4 units on it at 31. And now just went back to see, and it hadn't moved. So I put 3 more on it, haha.

Biggest game in a long, long time for Colorado State tonight, against hated BYU, who also happens to own us. Moby Arena hasn't been sold out since '03...the Whale will be a rockin' tonight.
