FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (12 Viewers)

I thought I'd be able to help my fellow degenerates win some scratch via SEC Hoops, which I usually have a good handle on, but my posted plays haven't been so hot, and I'm sorry about that. It's been a tough conference to figure this Season...that being said, when I saw the line on tonight's Miss St @ Kentucky game, it really took me by surprise...Kentucky -17.5!!!

Both Teams coming off a loss: Kentucky by 4 @ Vanderbilt, a fiercely competitive game that a young Kentucky Team couldn't close out...Miss St by 3 @ Auburn, where they squandered a NINETEEN POINT lead with 11 minutes remaining, which cost me...

Well, after watching Miss St beat Arkansas, I thought very highly of them, and I still do, despite the collapse @ Auburn. Ravern Johnson, suspended 2 games for 'improper tweets', returned @ Auburn, and while he didn't do anything noteworthy, he shook some critical rust off, and should be ready to roll tonight - he and Dee Bost give Miss St an All-SEC caliber inside-outside 1-2 punch. Riley Benock, Kodi Augustus and Reynardo Sidney are also nice complementary pieces that make Miss St a dangerous Team. Also, Kentucky's starting G Darius Miller played only 18 minutes @ Vandy after injuring his knee, he's still gimpy and he's a key contributor towards what Kentucky tries to do...

Kentucky is a long, athletic Team. They have a massive home court advantage. They are deeper than the Bulldogs, but they are also young, and still learning how to hold leads and close out games...and Miss St has talented veteran starters who know how to keep games close. Miss St is not going to win this game, but they sure as hell aren't going to lose by around 20, either.

Trail at your own risk, but I'm going Captain Ahab on winning this one. With the line at 17.5, I bought 2 to get 19.5 at -150 and laid a bigolbuncha units...a big...ol'...bunch.

Good Luck!!!

Some books have Georgia St. +14.5

I also have .5u on Delaware / Northeastern under 128.5

Tailing the NHL plays for the first time :coffee:

BTW, if you guys aren't using covers.com for handicapping you really should be. Best handicapping site out there IMO. I love the "team expert" picks in the matchup section in particular. These are the top handicappers who follow specific teams -- one guy in particular stands out tonight on the Bruins game. 22-1 on the year on Bruins sides & totals, coming out with Boston & under tonight.
I love the forums for members. I love them for good, hearty laughs.
There are some pretty crazy people in those forums. Everyone is always right, even when they lose. Cocaine is a helluva drug.

Got a really good play in college hoops tonight, George Mason +1 at VCU. George Mason is the most talented team in the conference this year and although VCU will give them a game tonight, I really like George Mason to prevail here. George Mason has been drilling teams lately, locking down on D and putting up near 80 points consistently on offense. They are shooting 48% for the year from the field and are better than VCU in every facet of the game. The only advantage that VCU has tonight is the homecourt and it will not be enough, George Mason has better offensive stats than VCU does home or away and if you look at form in last five games, its a huge edge for GMU as they have locked down the D. George Mason is on a 12 game win streak against the spread and you even get a point tonight. They can pull away in the standings tonight with a win here and I expect they are going to get it, slight revenge game as they got drilled by VCU last March (one of VCU's best players has since graduated).

Final Card for the night:

NCAAB-

George Mason +1

Great call here. Congrats. MissSt was up at halftime, rallied late to make the game close, and even got the missed FTs they needed to make the finish exciting. MissSt covered easily - there were only a few moments when it looked like UK would blow them out.Now that the game's over and you can celebrate your big score... what was your logic behind buying 2 to push the line out to +19.5? At first glance, it seems like a big price for adding seemingly insignificant numbers, but I didn't cap the game ahead of time.

Adding a late game to the card, Airforce +15.5
I've very tempted, but curious as to why. Too many points?
Yeah, UNLV is not great at covering big numbers, 3-7 when favored by more than 10. Airforce is also a decent shooting team, they can knock down 3s and they shoot like 48% from the floor. I know UNLV is more athletic and will outrun them but if Airfoce can knock down some 3s, it will be hard for UNLV to cover. The only thing that really favored UNLV was the home away splits but just felt like this is a lot of points. We will see how it ends up though, could be wrong here.

I like Sens/Isles O5.5(among others, probably gonna be a big card tomorrow but I like this one best)

Both teams have played to five consecutive overs including a 5-3 game they played last week. Islanders are playing really aggressive right now and Grabner is on fire so I think they can pot three here, and you know they'll give up at least three.
Nice job once again, started off a little slow but there is no question that the OVER was the right play in this game. Ottawa continues to be a gift when it comes to overs, book has to catch up soon.

Thanks gb, good call on the Isles back at ya. Not sure why that was only -115 given latest trends but these are probably two of the least volume teams in Vegas, and Ottawa was a team that played to the under a lot earlier in the season. They really miss Volchenkov.Tomorrow I like the Jackets +105. Kings are hot but I'll use my end of a long roadtrip shtick again here. I also saw Columbus own them earlier this year at LA and Vegas is missing that Columbus has also won five of six. The Kings are so Jekyll and Hyde so all things point to a nice play on a home dog here.

Hockey prop pal has A good one tonight. Wild under shots for three stars.0
That was way, way, way, way, way, way, way harder then it had to be.At least it paid.
It didn't ####### pay off for me god ####### damn it. And it's the only prop I played. Thanks to JTC, I broke even with his Jorge Mason genius easy money play. And some on MSU. Big swing, played wrong prop and got bad line. Pissed.

Thanks, glad I followed. I think you gave me George Mason too. They covered my Ohio St. loss. The Johnny's m/l was nice icing.

Tailed you guys on NYI, O5.5, George Mason, and Bruins (but I parlayed this with the under for some reason so lost).

Also went with Heat and GWS. Then I did a 3 team parlay with these plus the GSW O201.5. So lost that.

Thanks for those hockey and GM picks though! 5-2 on the night with losses being dumb ### parlays.

For some at work action...taking the over 2.5 in the Arsenal vs FC Barcelona Champions League match today...here are the results from their last 3 matches....

I'm on over 2.75(-117) at 5dimes...lets score some goals!

Not based on my stupid system because that ended up flaming out spectacularly, but just based on CBB knowledge I like Wisky/Purdue OVER 125 tonight. Last time they played they totaled 125, but the first half was more of a feeling out process with just 46 points scored and in the second half both were able to score pretty easily, putting up 79 between the two of them. I'm a little nervous because even though the Badgers offense is really clicking most of their great scoring games have come at home and Purdue is a better defensive team at home, but this game will likely go down to the wire and both teams shoot free throws well so I expect it to get over 130 in the end.

They could set it at 100 and I would be scared to death to take the Over in any Wisco/Purdue game /purduehomerYou could be looking at a 27-24 score at half.

It's always scary to take any OVER in any Big Ten game, but I think these are the two best offenses in the league right now outside of Ohio State.

One total that I like is St Peters-Siena over 127- these teams put up 146 when they played each other two weeks ago. They had 158 shots and almost 60 free throws between them. Siena on the road shot a paltry 31% from the field, I think they can improve that at home. They both like to pound it inside and in the last game all the big men got in foul trouble, meaning scoring with no time off the clock, less defense inside late in the game, the ball will get kicked back out to the guards for more open shots and they both have guards that can knock down outside shots. Siena averages 67 points at home which is more than half this total and I think St Peters is the better team, so both teams can get to 67 a piece here (siena gives up about 69 ppg defensively). The one thing that makes me nervous is I feel the total is to low by at least 6 points and the bookies didn't adjust that much from the last time when they made it 122 but I'm not going to second guess it I think we go over again.

What is difference between 2.75 and 2.5? I am confused by this......soccer.

On Colorado State again, pretty big. This is a roadie in between two big home games and all but CSU has not only proven they can win on the road, but is also very focused on getting to the dance. They know full well they better not slip up here so I don't see them looking ahead to UNLV. I already went into how consistent they are... And while they've had real trouble beating TCU down there, this team is nowhere near those other teams so I don't put a lot of stock into that. Rams are winning much tougher conference road games than this these days (UNLV, UTAH, WYO). So the things TCU has going for them tonight -- sandwich game and home court -- even those advantages should be limited.

Adding Vandy +2.5- simply feel they are the better team and if they get their offense going, Georgia can't hang with them. I do think Georgia is going to try and slow this down a bit but still like Vandy to get it done.Have a lean on Louisville +2 but Cincy is definately going to bang them around inside and Cincy needs this one worse than Louisville does. I think Louisville is improving though and is certainly capable so some mixed feelings which means I should probably just lay off that game.

Any reason you wouldn't just take the money line then?

With Vandy I already made my play getting points but I can see why you would take the moneyline here. +125, maybe that's the play, I like them to win outright.

Blake Griffin to win the Dunk Contest, Rookie Game MVP and All-Star MVP +5000. Worth a little sprinkle I think!

-250 for the Dunk

+200 for Rookie Game

+900 for All-Star Game

Diggin Cavs/Lakeshow UNDER 204 tonight. Cavs put up 57 points last time vs. the Lakers and the Lakers pulled a lot of their starters. Lakers on the tail end of a 7 game road trip all over the East will be quick to rest their starters once they are up by 20 points by the 3rd quarter.

And Cavs u96.5. When the Lakers win, they rarely give up that many points.

OK we're back with a good-sized card tonight:

2u St. Louis +3

1u Cincy -1

1u Ill. St. +10

1u Loyola-Chi -2.5

1u Ole Miss -13.5

1u USCB -12

1u EKU +2

1u Loyola MD -1.5

Was going to add Loyola Marymount for the Loyola trifecta, but #### them.

YTD 162-134 54.7% +19.65u

A few golf leans if anyone interested. Tourney matchups. Charles Howell the 5th over Rory Sabbatini -125. Matt Kuchar -125 over Jim Furyk. Brandt Snedeker -110 over Steve Marino. Senior Tour Bernhard Langer over Cooky -120 and David Frost over Peter Senior -120. Gonna scour over the 1st round matchups and see if anything looks playable. I weighted a little more money on Kuchar and Frost matchups.
