FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (3 Viewers)

UNC -6: I love this Florida State team, but if you see how they beat UNC the last time they played, it was like a perfect storm situation, involving some incredibly hot shooting, and including Carolina's own hubris. I'm pretty sure the Tar Heels are going to take this game seriously today, clamp down defensively and avenge that earlier loss.Xavier -3.5: St. Boneventure and U.Mass cost me a BOATLOAD on Friday, knocking out St. Joe's and Temple, respectively. I went on tilt for a while after that, before engineering a recovery of sorts late Friday afternoon through yesterday. Although I'm still down my share of units from the Thursday/Friday bloodbath - at one point it was over 24, now it's down to a manageable 8, and thanks to a nice start to the week, that's actually only 5.5 for the week...but I digress. I was still steaming over those two losses yesterday, but resisted temptation on betting the U.Mass/St Bon. game because my hate would have gotten the better of me. Figured I'd take it out on whoever won that matchup, because I liked the Xavier/St. Louis winner to beat either one. I'd feel more confident if this was St. Louis/Majerus in this spot, so probably going to bite it and buy down to 3, but I'll get some of that Friday BS back today. But only some: U.Mass killed a 4-Team Teaser for 2u, and St. Bon's a 5u straight bet on St. Joes. Can't put a dime on this one, much less a nickel. Plenty of hoops still to go...
I pounded both favorites on the ML. Both favorites are getting DESTROYED and have no shot to win.I'm good at gambling.
Threw them in a 4 teamer light on the spread and heavy on the ML for today's games. You know, hedge against going big on the 1st seeds prop. :bag:

Oh my god derek how do you handle watching these buffoons? Maddening, every time down the court.
Its not easy, they are so much better than what they showed tonight
It's funny, I kept thinking that Louisville is so long... and their zone and length really bothered Cincy. But then I realized that Syracuse is even LONGER... which confirms my suspicions that they were sandbagging. The dirty little secret is that the elite teams really don't care about winning their conference tourney. It's all about the bigger picture.
I almost took the bait on this one.Bet Falcao to score tomorrow (+150 at SB), wake up with a nice little surprise for yourself tomorrow morning.
NIce call here, ty kind sir. It was + 130 when i played it.
np. I also like Van Persie -110 tomorrow.

I'm no basketball expert, but why did the kid chuck the three pointer with almost 10 seconds left when they were down by 1? They could have easily worked something inside and got a duece to take the lead and force FSU to make something. Headshaking.

:sadbanana:

Every dog has his day. Every dog not only covered but won SU so far today. Books have their revenge at the end of championship week.

Well, at least Vandy came through. Wish I'd had the stones to put something on the ML...

Michigan St. +2.

With Kentucky AND Carolina both losing, I think the winner of this game gets that 4th #1. I'd be surprised if the Selection Committee puts in 4 Teams that didn't win their Conference Championship Games...

Good Luck!

NC State makes field of 60 (no play in involvement) +180. Pound?

ETA: No play for me.

Kurt is back up and running FWTIW.

As a sidebar because I got a few PMs lf late, we are kind of ramping down on SOG props for the year. We are in that strange time of year when teams have clinched playoff spots, the trade deadline changed teams playing styles, and kids are called up for a cup of coffee. We aint hitting them like we were just 2 weeks ago. That said we kind of like under Phi 31.5 today, esp at -105.

Good luck all.
i have liked the flyers under for a bit, but with their offense being so anemic yesterday i wonder if they will come out a little more guns blazing. but i think i will be on it too, light.
This is more about NJ at home in my eyes. The Devils have given up more then 30.5 shots 4 times this season.**** Edit - at home.
thanks, sounds good. i haven't checked most of the numbers, but i think taking the under of the teams playing the flyers may be doing alright. the forwards are coming back on defense and the defensemen are going down (that sounds strange :bag: ) to block shots a lot more.

Looks like Bobrovsky is in net.
hmm, that does change things a bit. i already got the bets in, so i may try to hedge a bit

I parlayed the Devils (-140) and Blackhawks (-125).

Blackhawks are finding ways to win at home even without Toews and Emery is playing well. Kings are finding ways to lose on the road and I'm still pissed they choked away that game to Detroit the other night.

Devils are defending well with only 4 goals allowed in their last 5 games combined. Bobrovsky should be rusty having not played since Feb. 18th and he may not have much confidence either having lost his last 3 starts and 4 of his last 5.

Probably dumb, but I'm taking a shot at the Wild+120. I know they're bad and hurt. I'm just having trouble believing the Flames should be -140 as a road team vs. anyone.

Eyeing the Bhawks and o5 later.

I have a 5 team parlay going (3 games complete) 1u to win 16

Remaining two games in the parlay are Blackhawks ML and Rangers ML

How would you hedge?

LA +1.5 (-290)

LA ML (+105)

NYI +1.5 (-155)

NYI ML (+175)

I am too p***y to let it ride. So how much do I hedge on each game? I don't mind the Risk of taking +1.5 because there is a chance of middling. But let's hear your expert opinion.

Put 1 unit on each of these:

Flames/Wild Under 5 (+105)

Blues/Blue Jackets Under 5 (+110)

Blues should keep the score low in every game they play. Wild have kept the total score under 5 in 3 of their last 4 home games, and 5 of their last 7. I think the Flames total has only gone over 5 in 3 of their last 10 road games.

6 goals in either game feels high so hoping for a push at worst.

hmm, i'm not sure. i guess a little on each ML, so you can guarantee you make money at the end? or parlay both with the opposite, like parlay Rangers and LA and Chicago and Islanders?

I really like NYI +1.5 (-155)but am not sure if I go with LA ML (+105) or with +1.5 (-290).Trying to run the numbers to make the best hedge bet. Thanks for your input!!

If any of you are looking for a March Madness bracket contest with big payouts, shoot me an email at kurt.howard@cox.net. $10 per entry run on CBS Sportsline. Max 2 entries. I have played in this contest for years and there have always been over 100 contestants. It is run by a buddy of mine. Payouts are big. A lot of fun.

You got my email the other day Kurt. Should I send another?

Yes sorry. If you contacted me last week then send me another email if you want to participate. I will send you the particulars on where to send your entry fees and make sure you get an invite that you will need since it is a private league.

Ok, another reason to donate to Kurt's "charity"

Flames were up 1-0 after 2. Then we get 3 goals in 5 minutes to kill the under. Stupid.
yeah, that did suck. fingers are crossed for the push there, and the Blues to keep up the one goal lead and get the win over there. Both plays were looking real good through the 2nd

Calgary with 2 goals on 3 shots in the 3rd. #### them.
F the Wild too. I don't know why i thought they had a chance today and put some money on them. That team is just frustrating beyond belief. And I love Jody Shelley and all, but the guy does nothing but take penalties for the Flyers. 3 Devils go after him, and shove him from behind, so he shoves them back and he gets called for a 2 minute penalty and a 10-minute misconduct

Rangers also losing. At home. To the ####### Islanders. About to be 4 in a row. All I need now is for Manning to sign with the ### #### Titans and my weekend will be complete.

This is my goodbye to this thread forever, gents. It's been fun. Best of luck to you all.
I was 0-7 on Thursday in NCAA hoops picks and then went away from the board (Tre and Frosty helped) and finished 5-0 on that day. After that went 12-6 on college hoops over the weekend and looking back, I'm really glad I didn't come in here. Won a ton of money on the Ville and Mizzou. Hockey is sucking lately, taking a step back for now especially with the tournament here. I historical have issues in March with hockey because teams get tired and you can't tell how teams will play based on their playoff positioning. I think in hockey more than any other sport, the teams don't care as much about playoff positioning as the fans do. Betting sides of teams needing a spot seems logical but I think totals and parlays with teams like Vancouver in them tend to fail this time of year. There is no logical reason Vancouver should be losing at home to Montreal.

well, before you leave hockey DD, Flyers and the under on Tuesday against the Devils. Devils were the definite pick as soon as they announced Bryz was sitting, but they'll come back and beat up on them on Tuesday
