That's the nice thing about soccer (watching from here, anyway), you get kicked in the nuts, at least you don't have to go to sleep on it.

If they tie, Liverpool's still in OK shape, they just need to win their last two (very winnable) games, and they're in.

The slip, which let Ba in alone on goal to score, ultimately massively tilts things towards Manchester City, who can take the league if they win out. Add on the fact that Gerrard's already a Liverpool legend, add on the fact that it's the 25 year anniversary of Hillsborough and his cousin was killed there, add on the fact that Liverpool hasn't won the league in forever, it's pretty huge.

I'm trying to think of a good American sports comp: Justin Verlander balking in the go-ahead run in the World Series would be pretty close.

Yeah...pretty much what I thought. It was more or less an empty netter. Liverpool had a lot of chances and took a lot of shots. The one shot that the goalie had to go up for was inches from netting. That was fun.
