FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (7 Viewers)

I had an awesome idea yesterday:

This year for NFL season, we do a capping contest which mirrors the LVH's SuperContest: 5 picks every week ATS, winner gets the big prize. Except we have some mandate that whomever wins the FFAWT capping contest uses their winnings to enter the big one at the LVH next year. It's $1500, I figure it shouldn't be too hard to get 30 people at $50 per head or something. Genius amirite?

Will I be able to tail someone in here for the contest?

The real contest allows you get get/buy picks from anywhere, don't see why we should be different.

I'll give this its own dedicated thread once we get closer to American football season.

alternative could be to have everyone pony up and have one FFAWT entry in the Contest. Could be fun debating the 5 games and whatnot. Although, could have a cluster factor where we would need a "Team Captain" to keep things organized. Then again, the cluster could be part of the fun

Or do both.

In for an LVH style contest complete with the stipulation
I'm in for whatever amount, but I can't commit to the stipulation. Unless I'm reading it incorrectly, you have to be in LV in person to enter the contest. I can't guarantee I'll be able to be present. Not to mention that even in the unlikely event that I win, that $1,500 will be blown 30 minutes later.

RN - what TV did you get? Looking for one I can move inside and outdoors easily
I'm at a cookout but it has 420 in the model number. $378 before tax. Beautiful picture for the price.
Thx
ooh i'm looking for a new TV. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but probably going to get this one as a tv I can easily move inside and outside during football season: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-42LN5300-42-Inch-1080p/dp/B00BB0ZTO0

In either way

I also do another contest where you get a set amount (say 10,000 units) and you can wager as much as you want each week through the Super Bowl...biggest bankroll at the end wins

It's run on officefootballpool...not sure the hosting fee but they have quite a few different games like that

If you have the attention span, interesting conversation among Haralabos, Chad, a bookie and Glenn from The Walking Dead.
Jesus. How did you watch that. The guy on the left kept cutting everyone off. i wanted to punch him in the jellycock.
Watched the whole thing. Thought it might have been stale when they started talking about how the Ravens shocked bettors by making it to the big show after years of one-and-done in the playoffs, but it turned out to be pretty relevant, entertaining, and informative. I think the dude on the left is Haralabos, right? How the hell he only bets NBA is nuts, and then turns around and says football seems totally random and arbitrary to him. That is one interesting perspective right there. Shows you everyone thinks differently. That is an extreme difference in perception and seems the exact opposite opposite compared to anything I have ever heard of.

Pretty cool hearing them talk about how Pinny sets the lines, how public action (doesn't) influences the line/moves, and then about how they set the lines not based on what number they think the game will land on, but by the perception of the gamblers - especially on Sunday night/Monday night football games when people are looking to break even/make it all back in one game. They absolutely see you coming in those games. It makes you want to tread really carefully on Sunday/Monday nights, especially at the end of the month when you are betting on credit, Jesus Christ. Add "putting yourself in the position to want/need to win it all back at the EOM in one game" to GPJ's list of what not to do - aong with martingdailing and betting craploads on huge faves.

Also around 33:00 Harabalos talks about tweaking his system in the short term and understanding how models are proven to be stable in the short/long term. I also liked how Harabalos got into it with the bookie around 25:00. There is a reason for the huge buffer zone between him and the bookie dude on the far right. I also liked how Harabalos said he started out as a situational handicapper and made a lot of money that way and kind of emphasized that as a legit way to do things.

I'm down to gambool on football 5 picks a week. Seems like every year we talk about it but I only remember getting it together once when I set it up and DerekNumbers held the dough. Maybe I just missed the boat the past few years.

I have a coworker who lives in Vegas that would out the lvh bets in for us.
