FFPC dynasty and redraft leagues thread (3 Viewers)

I was sole or half-owner on 4 FFPC Main Event teams this year and ended up basically hitting for the cycle. Got a 1, 2, 3 and 4 seed.

The 4 seed was one of two 5-7 teams of mine that made the playoffs.

My FBG contest fared way worse in terms of playoff percentages, of course,  had 12 of those 26 teams that I have an ownership stake make playoffs but I did manage to get two teams inside the top 50.

I split two FBG teams with Barack. One started with Akers  and then ETN in round 3 and that team battled hard all year and just barely missed the playoffs. The other one we did has taken on some huge hits the last few weeks but we got a top two seed.

In Dynasty I got 7 FFPC leagues and as I have said previously only one not a playoff team is the one we did together. It might however have a new companion as I got one team currently in but it's crumbling. Got a few teams vying for top two seed but majority of my teams are locked in that 3-6 seed no matter what happens these next two weeks. Safe to say week 15 is shaping up as biggest dynasty week for me I can recall. The pressure of that week is always intense to me and so satisfying when you make that final 4 and know you got two weeks.

Good luck to everyone on closing strong. Seems like a war of attrition this year.

Doing ok with my Dynasty teams and will do a write up once regular season is over, but let me get this out of the way now. My only FFPC ME team, went into last week with high points and tied with 2 other teams for best record. Ended up out of playoffs, argh.....Granted team was not a dynamo but it completely crapped the bed (101 points) so poorly it was enough to lose 1st, 2nd best record and 2nd high points qualification😭

I do have 1 out of 6 fbg teams with high points and 11-1 for best record (93rd overall). Unlike the ME it gets me no cash, just an invite to the tourney and a date with Bipcoin in the lg playoffs.

I know its all fpc here but fwiw, my only FFWC ME is in 2nd place with 2 weeks to go; similar scenario, I could finish 1st or out of playoffs entirely..........
Ouch.  Sorry to hear.

I thought you did get something for your FBG team that's 11-1?  At least if you win your league playoffs anyhow, right?  Maybe something for regular season top X in points too?

Well I only have one FBG team (again I don’t know how the hell some of you handle 10-20 teams, I have enough time problems already with just 2 teams 🤣🤣

started out strong 6-0 out the gate but ended up 7-5 due to lots of injuries , always picking wrong flex or something or another, but anyways made it as the 3 seed and super lucky for me I now get to ride mattison for these two playoff weeks meanwhile my playoff opponent this week lost deebo and may or may not have kyler, and if I make it to championship round that potential opponent will have Taylor on bye, so after weeks of frustration everything is breaking right for me at the right time

Good luck to everyone in the playoff weeks!

Nice, good luck with your MEs!

I agree on the war of attrition, every year I hear people talk about so many injuries and I shrug thinking it seems about the same every year. However this year more than any other I can remember it really does seem like a war of attrition with so many skill players going down all year at different points of the season.

Nothing for 11-1 or lg top points. Yep, if you win in the lg playoffs you cash, but Deebo out and Zeke getting 6.7 to start are ominous signs.

My one ME team couldn't overcome early season mediocrity from Aiyuk, A Brown being out and other pitfalls. C'est la vie.

In FBG I managed to get three autobids, including one with Meno, as mentioned above. I also have six other teams that finished as 4 seeds and am hoping for big weekends from them. Gallup and the DAL defense have a couple of them off to good starts.

That is dramatically less playoff teams than I was hoping for in the FBG redrafts. Soooo many teams that could win the toilet bowl. I have never had such crappy QB numbers in any style league. I had way too many teams where I waited and took Fitzpatrick, Winston and Fields. I expected Fitz to carry me long enough to decide what I had in the other guys but was forced to start them right away. With disastrous results. Anyway.

My dynasty teams I got off dynastydepot are killing it.

19 SF teams (I bought 13 from DD):

6 top 2 seeds

3 other playoff seeds

6 within 1 or 2 VPs of playoff seed and gaining

1 known rebuild

3 faceplants I expected more from

10 Single QB teams:

2 playoff teams, 3 on the verge within 2 VPs, 3 known rebuilds and 2 faceplanters (including our Shark Pool league)

So 25 total dynasty squads that weren't known rebuilds when I bought them. 11 are solidly playoff seeds with 9 others that have a very solid chance. I would be happy if 5 of those got there.

In RT Sports it looks like I will have 2/4 teams get autobidded and the other two are out.

That just about covers it.

Wow that sounds like a lot of work.  I have 7 teams and I'm going to downsize next year.  I can't imagine ~30.  Wifey already gives me plenty of looks when I'm wasting time on waivers & lineups.

I too had a Fitzmagic plan that busted in a few spots.  I'll probably try it again next year too!  :)

Had FBG $350 team, Main event, & another main event with my son.  First two Kapoot-C. Ridley & A. Cooper the main culprits!  Main event with son we won the league.  Going to be tough sledding as lost D. Henry(we picked him 2nd overall in draft) & A. Rogers on a buy this week.  Not enough ammo to go very far.  Really think this year injuries & covid messed a lot of teams up.  Never seen so many groin & hammy  injuries take a nfl guy out for 4 to 8 weeks.  It is what it is.  Good luck!

It is. I consider it a PT career and present it to my family that way. They know that we get to do special things with the prize money. The IRS considers it a career.

But yeah the DD teams were always an experiment and I will sell most of those back. I also intended to hire an assistant GM but that didn't work out.

I am glad the trade deadline is gone and that the losing teams in redraft can no longer run waivers.

I have been working 12 hour shifts, writing and/or editing 3 articles per week on the side, and this is by far the busiest time of year socially in my family. Both my kids birthdays and my wife's all wrapped around Halloween (their favorite) Thanksgiving and Christmas. So yeah more work than I want/need regarding FF. But it should pay off handsomely again.

I've been waking up around 430 most mornings.

Unfortunately, neither of my two Main Event teams made the playoffs, but I'm reminded by one of my biggest gripes about the format: Why are the league playoffs head-to-head instead of just total points among the four qualifying teams? Why have one playoff match that's 170-160, while the other is like 110-105? Just make it a play-all format and allow the two top-scoring teams to advance to the league final. It seems so logical.

Preach. Could not agree more and bring it up every year and with the bye weeks occurring so much in the playoffs it's become an even bigger issue.

Wow. It's always nice to read your posts. I feel like your ride is also ours because you're an amiable fellow and SP regular. But you're doing things we only hope to be doing on a very involved level. Best of luck with everything and best to you and yours. Keep us posted on your writings; that's probably the most interesting thing to me about the furtherance of this "hobby" for you.

Same thing I said to barack, meno. I appreciate when you, jabarony, barack, NE_REVIVAL, and others in this thread post here. It's edifying for us.

6 FFPC dynasty leagues.  I went into all six expecting to compete this year.  3 were new-to-me orphan.  I'm out of the playoffs in each of those 3.

3 were in years 2, 3, & 4 respectively of my own build from startup, I'm top 2 in eachthose 3.

Lesson learned - screw the orphans.

And of course the 7th is the SP league.  I decided to pick injury prone guys in that one.  I'll refrain from that in the future.
I've locked up 3x top 2 seeds.  And I'm locked into the toilet bowl in the other 3 leagues.  I would be taking 2 weeks off if it weren't for the good ol' SP league.

I have about a 3% chance to make the playoffs in that one, but I suppose I should try.  Dag nabbit FreeBagel finding those post-MNF points still hurts!  Probably for the best though.  My team needs a higher draft pick more than it needs a lifeless exit from the playoffs.

Top seed fbg tourney team (93rd overall) advanced in lg playoffs and will be playing for the ship.

Ffwc ME is still 2nd seed and could finish top seed or out of the playoffs; this final reg season week is an all play.

Just got randomly placed into one of the fpc $125 bb tourney playoff lgs. Was one of five I entered and it was drafted end of June; we won't talk about the other 4

Only owner with Gibson, Zeke or Logan Thomas (Thomas could have been big down the stretch)

One of only two owners who drafted as many as 4 TEs and yet the only owner who will not have a TE in his lineup this week. (Trautman, Arnold, Thomas and Gesicki). The other 4 TE owner has Gesicki and still has 3 going this wk, don't worry about the single TE owner he will be just fine starting Ertz and no concern for the four 2 TE owners who will all have at least 1 going😭 Doesn't seem fair and if K. Allen sits I got no shot at making it out of the 1st rd (top 3 wk). C'est la vie

Firm believer in jinx and absolutely hate saying good things about players or teams until the ride is over so I'm sure this post is going to haunt me but I just had by far the best playoff week in FFPC I've ever had and probably will ever have.

Went 4-0 in the main events, 10-2 in the FBG contest for a 14-2 week.  Not to be greedy but had Melvin Gordon been healthy and able to play solid chance I'd have gone 16-0, at least 15-1 and this is a bit odd  since Javonte Williams was my most drafted RB but this was not the week Gordon missing was an assist to me. Out of the 14 teams in the championship game this week 2 main events and 4 FBG teams need to win to advance to the final big money round. I've told some friends of mine already that if I went 2-12 this week and the two winners are the main event teams that need to win to advance that I would not be unhappy with that result.

Got 3 out of 9 my teams in that BB tournament to advance which was disappointing because my teams that made it were all seed #1's and made it fairly easy but most of my other teams finished 3/4th and just barely lost out. One that bummed me the most was a Lamar/Fitpatrick team that went 2 weeks with a zero at QB and lost out by 3.4 points(take your damn vitamins Lamar!). My teams that made it are filled with a large dose of week 14 byes(Ertz getting traded and his bye not being this week was pure luck that might be a big assist to me) plus a healthy amount of Thielen and Deebo/E Moore whose availability I don't know yet so for sure think advancing against a tough field is not to expected, but will be celebrated if it should happen. Interesting contest and of course winning would be great but just to make it to that final week would offer incredible excitement. If anyone here makes it that far please let us/me know, I'd like to share a small part of your excitement.

Like I said I truly hate saying good things about my players. I don't know if it's ok to post a link from another fantasy site so I won't but I recorded a podcast with Balky/Rotoviz on Tuesday and I was calling Elijah Moore a league winner. Feel like I cursed him.

If anyone wants to hear the podcast It's on Rotoviz but I must warn you Rotoviz must have thought the interview was so great that they released a podcast recorded on Tuesday in the dead of night last night(Saturday). The equivalent of a Friday news dump.

I listened to the pod and thought you did a great job Meno! You sounded very knowledgeable and I am sure most of the audience will be fooled...Haha, just kiddin, good work!

Listened - great job Meno! Quite the intro Balky gave you as well.

Congrats Joey.
#victoryLap ;)

Thanks, jabrony.. My win-now approach definitely paid off in this league right out of the gate and, thankfully, the Covid and injury randomness of this season hit my competitors similarly to how it hit me (losing Henry for half the season, Evans, Theilen and Conner for the last few weeks on and off). My waiver wire pick up of the year in this league was SchultzTE DAL who put up top 6 ppg numbers on a team where TE was really my main weakness going into the season.

It’ll be interesting to see if I can make the finals for the next couple of years with my aging core (Henry, AJones,, Conner, DAdams, Evans, Theilen) along with my young studs (Josh Allen and Najee).  FFPC's rules only allow us to keep 14 skill position players, so it’s not like everyone will be able to hoard all of the young prospects, so I’m hoping 1 "hit" in next years draft, plus one decent hit from a young guy like Palmer, Eskridge, KHerbert or Irv Smith will add some startable youth to my roster.

many thanks to all the other teams in the league for a great season and especially @barackdhouse for putting it all together.

That Najee run cost me an inaugural FFPC SF championship last night and $600. But the team that took 3rd in the Football Guys Players Championship last night lost $50k on it. Or the team that took 2nd won $50k on it, however you want to look at it. Yikes. Heckuva swing.

Even though I don't "know" any of you, the interactions here and on the FFPC site made this one of my favorite FFPC leagues. Thanks to @barackdhousefor getting it going, and I want to give him an additional shout out for winning me the 1.01, even though he took a zero at the QB position two weeks in a row. "There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes."

agreed that this is my favorite FFPC league as well. In my other FFPC league with randoms, I was literally the only person to type something in the chat window this season, got no responses, and just moved on silently.

The guy who finished 3rd was in the lead by 15 or 16 points over the guy who had Najee going, who eventually won it. Imagine being that close to 500K only to watch Najee have that game.

Yeah, I’m more on the “won” side for the Najee owner. You draft a future (current?) stud RB to have performances exactly like that when you need them most. And Najee delivered.

oh I’d be pissed for sure if I was that close to 500k but at least it wasn’t scrub-off-waiver-wire who dropped 30 on you in a Monday night game.

No doubt. If I’m facing Harris, I’d just mentally accept the loss before hand. Not watch the game. And check the score at midnight with fingers crossed.

Not that this is the venting thread, but I’ll just put it in FFPC terms. Over my 7 leagues I “won”.1x1.05 pick, 3x 1.06 picks, and (with 3 byes) 2x 1.09 picks, and 1x 1.10 pick.

 Built for the regular season!

:)

I would’ve had the 1.12 in our FBG FFPC league, but traded it away (+T Lawrence) for Josh Allen at mid season #worthEveryPenny.

and in my other FFPC league  I’m kind of in no man’s land at the 1.09 squeaking in as the 6th seed, surviving round 1 of the playoffs, and then performing miserably in the 2-week championship to finish 4th. That’s a middle of the road team that will require some work to get back to the top.

Amen.

Bombjack is in a league with me were they run by Najee took me from third place to first, ended up being my highlight of the year.

I'm kind of in the same situation.  In most of the leagues where I made the playoffs with strong teams, I got unlucky and finished out of the money and in most of the leagues where I missed the playoffs I got unlucky and finished with the 5th or 6th pick.  The last few weeks killed me.

In one league, which is a Dynasty Best ball league,  I was tanking this year as a complete rebuild and I had a 100+ point lead for the first overall pick going into the last two weeks of the season but ended up missing out on it by less than one point thanks to guys like Rashaad Penny, Rhamondre Stevenson, David Njoku and KJ Osborn finishing strong.

I posted this in our FBG FFPC chat board but realized we’d have more strength in numbers in this thread….

I put in a request to FFPC to allow one last waiver run on the Wednesday after the championship weekend.  They said they’d consider it for next year, so if you want to pile onto that request, feel free to let them know.
I think it’s silly, especially in a year like this, where you’re scrambling for starters with a pulse for the final week, to then have to be stuck with these scrubs all winter instead of having a chance to swap them out for a prospect you want.

I guess I'm on the fence about this. In a lot of my leagues, I'm at the max of 3 players on IR. I would much rather FFPC add another IR spot. On some teams, I had filled all three IR spots by the second week of the season.

Fair enough. 2 separate feature requests imo. I think adding another IR sounds great but doesn’t remove my desire to have one last post-fantasy-season waiver run to head into the off-season.

Congrats Joey! You got a strong team that was able to overcome significant injuries and still thrive. I agree that Allen was a great trade and Schultz a key pickup for your championship. In contrast my team kinda wilted a bit, particularly Zeke and Diggs compared to Adams and Harris.

I think we have a great league and I'm looking forward to next year!

In the FFPC email sent out today regarding dynasty teams:

Rules Change: Adding 1-2 Spots To Injured Reserve

The FFPC will be adding at least one to two spots to injured reserves. This will take IR to either four or five positions from three. This is due to the massive increase in NFL teams using Injured Reserve as it relates to COVID and other short-term injuries.

This would be huge.

Yeah. Saw that too. And while I initially said that my request for an extra run of waivers after week 17 and adding IR slots were 2 separate issues, I realize that in my case I definitely could’ve moved Theilen to that extra IR spot to pick up my crappy week 17 fill in of Roddy Anderson, so I guess that kind of solves my final weekend of the season waiver issue.

So DynastyDepot has an FFPC $750 dynasty team for sale with an active high bid of $3300.  Wow, what are people thinking???

I foresaw that this would be the weakest class in years when I planned my season this way. Lol. JK congrats.

Yeah it is nuts. It was like that last year when they kicked it off, but am curious to see how it is going now in year 2. I have about a dozen teams up for sale myself. Am keeping about a dozen.

Lol yeah, I've never had the 1.01 in any FFPC league before, so I'm sure this class will be the WOAT.

I put a $500 team up for sale on Dynasty Depot. (I didn't realize my account was set to auto-renew so I was a little pissed when it charged me automatically, but I'll give it this year to see if it's useful.) I'd be interested to know if anyone is successful at selling a middling team on there. The one I listed is a superflex best ball team that has good players but finished in bottom half, mainly because all my WRs ended up on IR.

So DynastyDepot has an FFPC $750 dynasty team for sale with an active high bid of $3300.  Wow, what are people thinking???

I have some I would not give up for $3300 so I guess in a way they are thinking similar to me just from opposite angle. Winning is never easy, but if you got a very deep team that looks like it's a major contender for a few years exiting for guaranteed money that is not quite up to a years potential winnings is not a slam dunk.

I have quite a few powerhouses that I took on from DD last year that I am planning on flipping for something like 3x each. But I was reevaluating them in preparation for listing for sale and on more than a couple of them I had to stop and tell myself no Imma keep that one. They may be more like 5x but I don't think I can do it.

3800 now.  Herbert, Swift, Jonathan Taylor, Fournette, Cam Akers, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown, Calvin Ridley, Chase Claypool, Marquis Brown, Kyle Pitts.  Also pick 1.02 and a few 2nd rounders.

Obviously a team littered with value but man, 3800 plus their exorbanant 10% fee.

Fun to watch though
