Final Spots for Ultimate Survivor (1 Viewer)

David Dodds

Administrator
I know we are behind in our judging of the other contests. We will post results by COB today. But even if you were not selected there, we will be choosing another 40+ people from this thread to participate. We also will be selecting other staff choices based on contributions to the Spotlights, Assistant Coach Forums, etc

Here is what we would like everyone to do that's interested in being part of Ultimate Survivor II.

1. Post by COB by Midnight PT this Friday that you are interested.

2. State in less than 500 words why we should pick you. For some people your post history and contributions may be enough. For some, you need to sell us why you belong.

3. Please only post one time in this thread as multiple comments/posts will make this very hard to read.

Again apologies on the slowness of grading out the other contests. Those results will be posted soon.

We will state who we selected for the final spots this coming Monday.

I'm not as avid a poster as I have been in the past since my primary focus currently is on looking for a job. But I have faired pretty well in all of the FBG's contests in which I have participated as can be seen from my signature. Would love to match wits again with the best!

I would love to be a part of Ultimate Survivor II.

As for my reasoning...

"Somebody has to be the first team booted off the island and I figure any team that I would draft would have just as much chance of that as any other team in the league to be that team."

How is that for writing my reasoning in 500 words or less... :lmao: and thank you for your consideration!

Im definitely interested in participating in the 2009 version of The Ultimate Survivor. I placed 2nd overall in last seasons contest and I actually scored the most overall points in the Championship Round. Unfortunately, I had 1 bad week that landed me in 2nd place by 1 game. I'm up for the challenge and ready to improve on last years performance!! :boxing:

Hello,

If I do not make it to ultimate survivors via the caption contest please consider me as a regular contributor.

I am a shark pool regular even during the off season

I participate in the IBL (Interboard Challenge) on FBG's behalf, two years running.

I participate in the Mock Draft Forums survivors for 5 years.

Thanks!

BSS

I'd definitely like to be considered as I missed out last year. I have been doing survivor leagues in the mock draft forums for the past five years or so with the likes of BassnBrew, Team Legacy, Radballs, Captain Hook, BSS, rzrback, etc. I have always done well, finishing in the top half in most of the leagues. While I have never won, I have several top 3 finishes. I always do team writeups and analysis for these drafts and love to write about fantasy football in general.

In addition, I am in the No Mercy leagues, a contract dynasty league with Bloom, Unlucky, and several other notables. I'm also representing FBG in the Interboard league challenge this year along with 11 others.

I would love to get an opportunity to play with the best of the best in the Ultimate Survivor league.

thanks for your time and consideration.

The caption pics didn't do much for me this year, so it's pleading time.

But the plea is pretty short:the Survivor leagues now in their 8th year. Nuff said, IMO.

I want in please. But I think the staff is afraid to face me.

Prove me wrong. Show me what FBGs are all about. :pickle:

:hifive:

I am basically your average joe/member that could may deserve a crack at you guys.....should have at least one of those...

1. been a member since 2003

2. I always miss the early bird discount so you guys get a couple of extra bucks out of me every year

3. this is the only site I go to....seriously....even if that works against me...I trust you guys

4. I dominate my leagues

Thanks for your consideration.

Another vote of support for Twilight...guy organizes a website that tracks hundreds of survivor teams drafted in these forums, and has done so just because he's a nice guy. He's also a pretty good drafter too.

I would like to be considered. This year my interaction has been less than ideal due to excessive international business travel, but I'm well prepared nonetheless. My strongest argument aside from my obvious obsession with the hobby, is probably my past success in FBG "expert" leagues.

Thanks for the consideration!

Here's my Top Five reasons:

5. I'm not a tool on the boards and try to be as excellent as possible.

4. Last year I was in and advanced to the second round, so I didn't embarrass myself.

3. Last year I also won a polo by being chosen Top three for the fake news blast, and since I'm cheap and love free clothing I advertise the site a good amount by wearing it.

2. There are only a couple of scheduled league draft times that I cannot make, so I'll fit in somewhere.

1. I never put my fantasy teams in my signature, because nobody cares and it means that much more scrolling for readers. I help them avoid that.

I just love the competition. I have been playing this "hobby" since 1997 and am a regular contributor to this board. I am a true FBG disciple and would love a chance to truly test my skills. I would love to tell you I dominate every league I am in (I do win some!), but I don't play with the guppies. I usually make the playoffs or finish a spot out of them, so I can hold my own.

The reality is, I love this hobby and this site and to be able to take on the best, would definitely be a thrill.

You want me to BEG to be in the contest? No way...I'm out.

I lied. I'm not...out...of this contest. I'm in. I'm so in, it's humiliating, because here I am, begging!

OK, here it is. Your choice, it's simple. Them or me. And I'm sure they're really great. But Dodds...I love you. In a really, really big...pretend to like your taste in music way. Let you eat the last piece of cheesecake way. Hold a radio over my head outside your bedroom window way. So pick me. Choose me. Love me.

My apologies to Grey's Anatomy and I hope this stupid contest was worth that.

doesn't seem to be forty posts yet, so two things

1) B4 I ever thought of applying (or on your end choosing) for one of the spots, I agree with others suggesting Twilight get a spot for his contributions to FBG life

2) I would love to particpate - Resume/Experience/contributions/references all there.................and I would be glad to publicize it in my blog around the corner

I don't even know what it is.... and I want in!! I have never done something with FBG that I didn't like....I can't say that about my wife !! So yes I would like to be chosen if you'll have me. Wow last time I said that I ended up married. Does that make FBG my mistress now ?

I'm not a real avid poster but I'm on FBG's everyday. I had a few short stints in the hospital over the last year and had my wife bring in my laptop just so I could do some fantasy stuff and stay up to speed with everything on FBG's. She said what's more important, getting well or that damn football. I of course replied football because without it I don't feel well anyway.

Even though I don't post tons of topics or replies, my typing skills suck, I'm here at FBG's off and on all day and night as much as possible.I frequent this site more than anywhere or do anything on my computer. I'll check the message boards 5 mins. after I've left just to see if anyone has made a new post or reply.I'm not a religious person but this site IS my bible when it comes to football. Don't let my sign-on date mislead you. I've been coming to FBG's for years, just under another name(DocNiner52)

I'm in a couple of survivor leagues(WSL,PDSL) with some staff members this year and I see Jeff Pasquino's having a helluva draft in the Premier League on MFL Add-Ons. I would love the opportunity to compete with some of the best fantasy football minds around. I'm kinda like that NFL player that's good but can't seem to get on the field to show what he can do, then bam, something happens and he gets his shot. He seizes the opportunity and turns into a football stud. That's all I'm asking for is the opprtunity to show what kind of fantasy player I am. Thanks for providing this to everyone as I'm sure it's greatly appreciated by all. :goodposting:

I was in one of these last time and did pretty well, love to do one again. I've been active in the mock draft survivor leagues for the past 3 years (and finally won one, woo) and usually active in the SP. Though as of late it's been harder to find time to post really constructive thoughts in here. That said, would love to play again this year, hope I get a slot. :goodposting:

p.s. obv Twi gets in.

I don't even know what it is.... and I want in!! I have never done something with FBG that I didn't like....I can't say that about my wife !! So yes I would like to be chosen if you'll have me. Wow last time I said that I ended up married. Does that make FBG my mistress now ?
I'm kinda confused too. this isn't the same as the subscriber contest? Wherever you find the info on this, I want in.....While most of my posting is in the FFA in the NFL offseason, I try to answer as many WDIS questions as possible Sunday mornings (wish more people would do this)....and spend quite a bit of time in the pool during the season adding whatever I can to help people with roster decisions and getting info for my teams.Just purchased the three year deal and would love to compete in the contest. If I'm not picked, then maybe next year. Thanks

I'm an addict to football, watching it my whole weekend in the fall.

I check FBG's daily and post regularly. This is the only way to get local news to every team....vs what ESPN wants to post.

Wrote an article in Bloom's nfldraftguys.com website.

Won 2 of my 5 FF money leagues last year.

I also want the challenge of going up against the best. Isn't that why we play FF and invest so much time into it? I want to beat a FBG staff member, kind of in the same regards to an average joe beating a WSOP champion.

I'm a frequent contributor in the shark pool, and a regular in all survivor leagues, even running the difficult White Elephant leagues. I was a finalist in this last year and am representing FBG in the IBCL. I've been an active year-round paying member for several years now!

ETA: Count me among those believing Twilight should be an automatic!

Reasons to pick me:

1. I am an active contributor and long time poster.

2. I will crush David Dodds.

Of course Twilight should be in. And Team Ramrod. LHUCKS. Bunch of ya...

I, too, wouldn't mind. I've never been the comedian-type, so my captions probably weren't the greatest. But you never know... Been with Footballguys for... 8...? 9 years? Well before this existing site was up and running (and still got a 4-digit # when I joined this new one!). Been in a ton of leagues, and absolutely love the survivor format.

Old timer here. Playing FF since 1987. Mostly lurking, but have been using FBG's exclusively since your inception.

Thanks

I would love to get an "at large" bid as it is looking like my caption attempts weren't so good. I am a 16 year FF vet and have competed in WCOFF. Dynasty leagues are my usual leagues of choice including 2 Zealot's college leagues. I don't post as much as I should, because there are very well educated posters that usually beat me to information and insight. While attending the 2005 and 2007 NFL Drafts I ran into Bloom and just enjoyed talking football with him.

Sporting News used my draft experience in an article http://today.sportingnews.com/sportingnews.../20090427/?pg=6 . As a longtime Audible listener and subscriber, I used your rate my team and all four of my teams had over a 85% chance of making the playoffs! http://subscribers.footballguys.com/rate-m...am=Ca34z98P6eaw , http://subscribers.footballguys.com/rate-m...am=RK6dc7236J4i, http://subscribers.footballguys.com/rate-m...am=96rmKkAbHbI7, and http://subscribers.footballguys.com/rate-m...am=7p9H6222RLi3

I would like to be involved

I participated last year but as just a fillin for someone that missed. With no preparation, I still made it to round 2. Was happy with that. So just doing this should get a consideration

I answer alot of questions in the Asst Coach. I usually give nice detailed answers instead of the one liners of yes or no. That I hope is invaluable. Must be okay as people PM me

I dont post too much in the big forum but being Canadian, I am not in the loop for the cities like others are. But I do give a report of what my thoughts where in a draft once done.

And the biggest point. I am a fast drafter and guys love the non waiting. I love the predraft feature

With all 4 points, I hope I get some consideration in this. What is a contest without some Canadian participation.

Add in that I am flexible and will do any draft at anytime. A nice option to have. :)

Qualifications:

1) I made it to round 2 last year in Ultimate Survivor by coming in first in a best ball auction league, and then missed the finals by 1 or 2 points in the next round. Man, it was close!

2) I was part of 6 message board guys who beat the 6 staff guys 2 seasons ago in a league, so I'm currently living out year 2 in my free, 3 year subscription. I have tasted victory over the staff, and victory is sweet.

3) Long-time fantasy football national competition participant (WCOFF for 7 years, NFFC for 4 years, and FFPC this year).

4) I will get a chance to crush Dodds LIVE in Vegas this year in the FFPC auction. That's not really a qualification, that's just cool.

5) I'm fluent in several fantasy football languages, including VBD, BPA, and regression to the mean. :)

I'll throw my hat in the ring here even though I'm not a voluminous poster (for a 4-digiter) I try to keep things light and funny and seek to be excellent to my fellow FBGs.

I tend to score well in these types of contests (made it into the double-digit weeks in the last two Subscriber Contests, was done in in this very contest last year with one terrible week doing me in, finished 4th Linky to 4th place post in the postseason contest.

Oh I also was the one that gave Doug Drinen his catchy nickname of the "Turk" I think this is the first mention I made of the "Turk"

So with this track record I can honestly say that in this contest the likely scenario would be-

other contestants ------> :lmao: <------ me

And there's gotta be more than one Bengal fan representing around these parts :goodposting:

Thank you for your consideration.

-QG

I would love to be considered.

I have proven year in and year out that I can draft a heavy hitting team with the best of them. Also looking forward to hanging with you, ruds and Clayton in Vegas this year.

I would like to be considered for an at large spot in the US.

Here are some reasons why I think I am deserving of a spot.

* active year round in both the Pool and the ACF

* long time subscriber

* long time participant in the FBG survivor leagues

* former blogger for FBG

* represented FBG in the Interboard league in 2008

* commish the 4 HyperActive leagues, made up of FBG staff and the most active posters

* consistently contend for titles in my leagues, thanks to FBG

Thanks for any consideration!

I would like to be considered for an at large spot too.

-Long time member

-Very active contributor in both the SP and FFA

-Previous competitor in US including making it past the 1st round last year

-Compete in several dynasty leagues with high level competition including some of the FBG staff

-Expert mathematician

Thank you for your consideration ;)

I humbly ask for an opportunity to play again this year.

÷ Fantasy Football is a serious FUN hobby for me.

÷ I've been playing since it was done with pencil and paper using the newspaper box scores.

÷ I'm not afraid to draft against conventional wisdom to construct a good team.

÷ My teams are consistently competitive. Top 25%

÷ Last year was my first chance playing in a best ball format finishing 2nd at year end in total points/wins Survivor Round 1 - League 1

÷ I relish the opportunity to compete again against fellow shark poolers & staff.

÷ I am a good sport and follow the rules.

÷ Finally, I'm a paying subscriber.

Thank you.

PS: MOP has my vote for a spot. His contributions are outstanding!

I'd love to be considered for a spot. Unfortunately, due to starting a new job the past few weeks, I just haven't had a good chance to sit down and apply for a slot in any of the other contests. Here goes it...

-I'm a very active poster in both the SP and the AC forums year round, although not as much as I'd like to these recent weeks. I believe I've contributed some very worthwhile threads to the Forum since joining (like here, here, here)

-I play in many dynasty and redraft leagues with some very tough competitors. I'm also an experienced commissioner, including Co-Commish of a very competitive developmental league full of some quality FBG posters/subscribers

-Former guest article submitter for FBG's, as well as a year of freelance article writing for another quality site (not name dropping)

-I'm currently a lifetime subscriber to FBG's. Also competed in the Ultimate Survivor last season through a "bogus" article submission.

As I'm sure many around here do, I simply live for this game, and would play it every single day with absolutely zero $$$ on the line if I had to. Would love another chance this year to draft and compete against the truly best of the best around here.

Thank you for your consideration!

Depends on how you want to swing it...

If you want some new blood with a different perspective, then I guess I am not your man.

If you want someone with ties to this place that go back to the beginning, who won the inaugural survivor contest, and who usually picks a strong team and lets clayton gray sleep on his hotel room floor when he is in vegas, then I am your man. I had a hard time with the captions this year, so I will throw my hat in for an at large bid (assuming my attempts at humor didn't get me in).

I'd love to be back in this year. I was in the finals last year (finished at .500) after going 52-3 in the second round.

I was a three year recapper and one year blogger.

Love this site, this format, and would love another shot at the ultimate survivor crown.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Some examples of my survivor write-ups.

I'd love to be considered for the Ultimate Survivor, I haven't had the opportunity since joining as subscriber several years ago.

I'm an active member on the boards, a Street Team member, I have made several contributions to the spotlight series, and I have my own blog dedicated to rookies.

Please consider me,

Thanks
