Finally rid of Spiller on all teams (1 Viewer)

Not having to worry about Buffalo's horrible waste of his talent anymore, in fact not having to think about Buffalo again at all, is like slowly sinking into a hot tub. Aaaaahhhhhhh.

It's worth trading him for whatever you can get just for that feeling. If anyone wants the value gauge I just got Witten, offered to me.

Not if you get return yards

Exactly, he's been pretty solid as my on and off flex position ...

Return yardage leagues he's a RB3 with RB1 upside. And he will get his shot eventually (one would hope) but I couldn't pass on this out.

maybe in a redraft, but I still think hold in keeper/dynasty

Definite hold in dynasty. In fact, a great buy-low right now. Owner might be getting nervous that as long as Gailey is coach, he won't get his chance.

I've wanted to make a move with him for a few weeks, but I just have a funny feeling that as soon as he makes one really big play, he'll start getting much more involved.

It just takes him breaking one.

Im sending out lowball offers to all the Spiller owners in my dynasty leagues. Trying to get rid of Greg Jennings/MB3 myself, so seeing if I could get Spiller + Moreno. Hopefully he bites. But I definitely think Spiller is a buy low in keepers/dynasty. You could probably get him very cheap in redraft, but then he might not do anything this year.

IF you have a large roster I still think he could be valuable come playoff time. In a league I'm in where 8/12 teams make the playoffs (I know, stupid) I'm holding for that reason as I can wait through an injury or bye caused loss and maybe he is lightning in a bottle in those final weeks.

I stopped thinking this after week 3 when he scored two TDs. Plus he has averaged over 6 ypc since week 1. If that can't get you playing time nothing can. Seems pretty clear the Bills for whatever reason don't want to use him this year.

He'll probably have 2-3 highlight reel TDs the rest of the year, but he just won't get enough opportunity to be usable in standard leagues.

I think the Bills are silently protesting Football right now. Not utilizing a player of that skill level is the equivalent of martyrdom.

Gailey has said since week 1 that Spiller will become acclimated to the offense slowly this season. He's still the primary kick returner so Gailey seems reluctant to give the rookie both roles just yet. His pass protection still needs work and Fred Jackson isn't a slouch either. The biggest problem with any Bills offensive player right now is the Bills defense. They just aren't getting off the field quickly enough and the Bills are falling behind in most games so fast that the running game becomes the first casualty to the scoreboard. I'm afraid there is limited upside this season with the exception of any big returns or big plays from scrimmage.

FWIW, He is rostered in all three of my leagues - from pretty competitive to very, and from fairly small rosters (15 rostered in a start two QB league for example) to larger ones (17 players in traditional type league).

 i still think he could put up numbers late
Exactly. Let's say you have him as a fourth rb in a start 2 rb, 12 team, 16 player roster, redraft league. You're not going to be able trade him for anything of value right now. And there's probably no one on the waiver wire who's an upgrade at rb. So why not hold onto him? One only needs to look at last season to see how guys like Charles, Harrison, etc. blew up late and won many owners championships.

I'm sure he will blow up later as are a lot of people. The team I traded him to is 1st at 5-0 and had Keller as their TE2. Those are the type of teams that he might be tradeable to. The ones that feel they can carry dead weight for a while and want to have that wild card prospect for the playoffs. That being said getting offered Witten for him kinda blew me away.

Given a chance there is no doubt that he could...but it's pretty clear that for whatever reason he's going to have a chance

But But But...I thought that since Spiller had such a great preseason that he was going to dominate.
i think most of the hype came from him being the #1 all preseason and having the coach saying he was the #1 all preseason. also hes the best rb in the league. not our fault that the coach is a ######

as a Redskin fan, I know torture. but if I was a Bills fan, I think I'd want to blow my head off. draft a guy #9 to return kicks? wtmf?

That's some of the reasons why The Lions might be welcoming The Bills to the 0-16 club

Does Spiller have as much long term upside as Jamaal Charles or is that being a tad too optimistic?
Not sure if you are serious, but IMO yes he does. He is still a very talented RB, but for now is in a bad situation. Situations change, talent level does not.

Just traded him in my keeper league for Jonathan Stewart.

I'm still high on Spiller, but I owned Stewart as he dominated during the latter part of '09, so I've seen what he's capable of.

Roll of the dice.

In kick return leagues at least you know Spiller's not likely to give you a zero.

My guess is that once the Bills are mathematically elminated from playoff contention (which shouldn't take long), they'll give Spiller more playing time so homers have some reason to come to games.
