Find me a couple of horses (1 Viewer)

In a 6x6 auction league (Innings being the 6th category) I'll only have $63 for 10 players (8 offense, 2 SP's) Using the calculations I mentioned in another thread, what I am looking for out of the 2 SP's are 200+ innings horses. I'm only looking to spend a buck on each. The only other concern is Wins, I'll need around 15 from each. ERA and WHIP can be a bit high and K totals can be only 100. Mark Buehrle would be a perfect example. Someone got him last year for $1. Zach Duke would be good but can he get close to 15 W's?

Jeff Neimann?

Brad Penny?

Aaron Cook?

Nick Blackburn might work.

Should be able to get you 200+ IP of a 4 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and roughly 100 K.

He's only had 11 wins each of the past two seasons, but he was kind of unlucky in that regard. Scott Baker won 15 games last year for the Twins with a worse ERA. Minnesota has had a really nice offseason and should win 90+ games this year.

That's a really good call. More upside than some of the guys I've been looking at. Someone has him at $10 so I doubt he'll be held over.

Penny is a good one. If Dave Duncan can turn Joel Pineiro into a good pitcher, he can turn Penny back into one.

If Felipe Paulino wins a rotation spot in Houston, I'd look at him as well.

Wakefield and Dice K with the Sox. Yanks #5. Niemann and Wade Davis with Tampa. Feldman maybe? Off the top of my head.

Some Pitchers to consider:

Clayton Richard

Brett Cecil

Sean Gallagher

Luke Hochevar

Ian Kennedy

James McDonald

Erick Stulz

Shaun Marcum

Brian Matusz

Ricky Romero

Chris Volstad

All offer great value. I really like Richard and Volstad.

I like Zep but he never makes it past 6 innings, he's hardly the innings eater the OP is looking for. He pretty consistently throws 18/20 pitches an inning and his longest start is 6 1/3 innings.Brett Cecil was mentioned in this thread as well, he's more likely to start the season in AAA than in Toronto.

Considering that a lot of these guys are offensive players, I doubt this reply was meant for this thread.

Not really a lot here to guarantee 200+ innings. Some of them have K potential that will push them over $1.So far Nick Blackburn and Scott Feldman definately make the list.

Good ones. Glll getting Matusz for $1.

If the 200 innings are a priority, Blackburn is a great suggestion. You need someone with good control and who won't be on a low pitch count. There are tons of better pitchers (or at least ones with more upside) who have been suggested (and some who haven't), but guys like Paulino, Zep, etc. are really unlikely to get the innings.

Ian Snell could put up decent numbers with Seattle.
:goodposting: Big fan as Snell as a dark horse, the guy showed so much promise before falling off the wagon. No better place for a pitcher career resurgence than Safeco.

So I wound up having a few extra dollars for pitching due to a couple of nice bargains on offense (Alfonso Soriano for $10 and Berkman for $7)

I managed to pickup Penny for $7, Kuroda for $7 and Homer Bailey for $3

also grabbed Blackburn and Paulino for my bench. (and took a flier on Brett Myers)

Bailey locked in my last SP spot so I wasn't able to get Feldman like I wanted but I'm happy anyway.

Thanks for the help in this thread. :goodposting:
