What's really early is Antonio Gates at 1.16!

Followed by Willie Parker! :X

After a closer look, Antonio Gates is one of only 3 guaranteed full-time starters on his team (Mason and Clayton are the other two). The guy took Favre, Brooks, and Brunell as his quarterbacks! I thought you said this was competitive?

I think adding the rules might help.
They were in the second post but I added them to the beginning of the first post...for the Fro.

Well the good news for you, is in the spring, and early summer there will be an oppertunnity for you to show the rest of us how it's done. Looking forward to it.

Bottom two just based on gaping holes at positions

Perry van Hook - that QB thing is a mess

Twilight - Iffy RB2/3 with Bell & Foster, even though I think Bell given the opportunity at the #1 could do the job, and relying on the solider at TE.

At first glance, I think 6 teams stand out as superior to the other ten. My best guestimate of their order without further analysis is:

1) Iwan...Cowboy

2) Family Matters

3) Radballs

4) Shadowfox

5) Twilight

6) Team Legacy

This is a great reminder of how difficult it is to field a team with 16 teams. Those hating on the draft probably haven't played in a 16 team league before. Great draft, and Kudos to all who participated, as it takes balls to draft this early.

Top three IMO:

Rush

Radballs

Shadowfax

quick look.
:goodposting: I'd add Iwannabeacowboy to that list.
I think Iwannabeacowboy could have had a better team. He should have taken a WR in the second round. Moss Harrison, Ward, and TO were all still available. He would have lost Bush, but he's still an unknown anyway and we are not sure where he'll be playing. in the third he could still have gotten a decent RB comparable to Bush. Domanick Davis, Corey Dillon, DeAngelo Williams, Jamal Lewis, Tatum Bell, Chester Taylor, Ahman Green, and LenDale White, and Ricky Williams were there for the taking (they went in that order). He could have had Edge, Moss, TO or Harrison and say DeAngelo Williams (if he wanted a rookie) or Ahman Green or Ricky Williams as his RB2, instead of Edge, Bush and Wayne.I know its easy to say this in retrospect but thats what you wanted... a critique.

I'd pick Shadowfax. Could have three true studs at RB (assuming Ricky gets traded). Manning is the most reliable QB in the game. Miller is decent at TE. Wish he had taken a better TE over Harrington. WR aren't elite but the Top 4 are all pretty consistent. Not sure about the other 3 WR. Defenses and kickers look strong--but who really knows at thos slots. Would rather have had K-Rob than TTaylor.

I'd probably rank Rush second.

I wonder what LHUCKS knows that I don't taking Jackson at #6 overall.

Radballs laps the field before the bye weeks are over.
could not agree more. Great job Radballs.
He could easily have only 1 starting RB, and as a Owens/Moss tandem owner in the past I can attest that it looks better on paper than it plays out in Survivor leagues. Also could have only 1 starting QB.He could do very well, no doubt, but RB depth is key in this format. One bad week from Vick combined with an off day from LT and this team will be gone. Just hope that those two don't materialize on the same week. I don't have the exact schedule (I don't even know if it's out yet), but bye weeks could hurt this team.

Very true about possibly only having 1 starting RB. I'm trying to get my points to make up for that from 2 stud WRs and 1 stud TE, but I think I got enough at RB2 for that not to hurt me too much. I really think Brad Johnson is going to be the starter in Minny for the majority of the season as Culpepper's scheduled return for his type of injury is November 1st. I'm discounting Culpepper a bit more than some because he's so big, and I think he might have an even more difficult rehabilitating from losing all three of his ligaments in his knee. It's apparent that a lot of what makes him effective are his legs.

I will say that I believe that I have a much better chance at leading the league in total points than long term survival. Anytime you swing for the fences and your strength is at positions that are not as consistent as the RB position, it's more possible for all of your players to take the same week off. Hopefully, they don't and this squad lasts a bit.

In any case, I hope DY's critique doesn't hinder my chances of joining the Anarchy invitational next season. :P

I, and the rest of us in this league, really appreciate the feedback from the board.

Yeah...his team is better built for re-draft than survivor. It will be interesting to see how he fares given everybody likes his team.

There were three other RBs in his tier:Jordan - coach? QB?

Portis - boring? upside?

Cadillac - Maybe the guy I should have taken

I took Jackson knowing I would go RB in rounds 2/3...I wanted the upside, but he could easily finish outside the top 15. Six is the worst draft spot this year...easily the worst.

I can't wait to see the LHUCKS experiment play out when 45% of the team are WRs and more than half of them are either rookies or WR3s on their own respective teams.

LHUCKS,

I still don't understand how you see Portis as boring or having little upside? He has a lower floor than a few players, but I think he has one of the highest ceilings in the league.

I drafed Wilson and Randle El projecting they would be #2s next year. Matt Jones will have some big games, it's just a matter of how many. I probably should have drafted potential starters like Gaffney/Northcutt instead of the rookies but it's fun to draft the rooks. These teams with 5 or 6 WRs are going to get stung when injuries/byes come into play.

But, do you not think you have the same risk exposure with your QBs? McNair/Bledsoe do have upside in this type of league. But, their survivor downside is worse than rads' rb2.

Not even close...McNair and Bledsoe don't miss that many games and they're only filling one position.

These teams with 5 or 6 WRs are going to get stung when injuries/byes come into play.
I couldn't agree more with this, however, it is completely dependent on where you are taking them. If you take them earlier you can go with fewer, but if you wait you probably need an extra one or two. In a 20 team league draft I want my roster composition to be in this range:2-3 QBs

4-5 RBs

5-7 WRs

2-3 TEs

Exactly 2 Ks

Exactly 2 DEFs

I think you hurt your chances of survival if you are outside any of the above ranges. You're normally compensating for a lack of quality starters if you are selecting more than those guidelines at that position. Those marginal players normally don't contribute as much as a second K or D would provide from the results I've seen.

For me 7 should be the low side on WRs and 9 the high side. But I always draft more WRs than the norm so my strategy is definitely "unique."

Not even close...McNair and Bledsoe don't miss that many games and they're only filling one position.

my point was less about the missing of games, and more of the variability of each's good games. You are correct in that they both play a lot of games and have good games, but I cannot think that you feel they are a consistent option each week for this style of league.

Nope in this format, QB's like Mcnair, plummer and bledseo are ideal. You really dont care about the monster game, you want solid points to not get booted. grab yourself two average QB's and your all set.

Interesting. The way I see it, I want to have 8 or 9 after a WCOFF draft because I'm hoping to get a bit lucky and hit on some sleepers. At the same time, in a WCOFF draft you only have to draft one kicker, one defense, two QBs and two TEs at the most. In survivor, I think you need at least two of each in the TE, K, and DEF categories which wouldn't allow you to have that many WRs given the other positions that need to be filled.

I agree with this but McNair always seems to be playing questionable and Volek has stepped in before. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to protect yourself when McNair is a running style QB who has had health concerns in the past.

I guess Radballs articulated it better than I did. Volek went in the 20th round. I just would not be comfortable in this format with those two. Sniffer, I agree with you on Plummer, but Bledsoe had some big games and several clunkers for fantasy. Factor in McNair without Volek, I see this being riskier than most I guess.

That having been said, who do you take instead at 1.13?
Me, in this format. One of these 3Kevin Jones

julius Jones

Antonio Gates
KJ -- Awful supporting cast. Incompetent GM, so this is unlike to improve much. Now that Martz is OC, though, I might reconsider.JJ -- Injury prone. Marion Barber outgained him in two of their last four games. Under four yards per carry.

Gates -- In a 12 team league, definitely, but not in a 16-team league. RB value disappears too quickly, and I'd either go without a RB2, or draft so many candidates that I miss out on a lot of early and mid-round value. And in a large-roster survivor format, you're just as well off with two good TEs (or, in my case, three) than one stud.

Deuce -- Only issue is the recovery from ACL injury, though obviously, that's a biggie. At the time, I expected that he'd still be the workhorse (even if not at full strength) since his backups are so lousy, but I forgot that they're all FAs. It's certainly possible that the Saints sign a viable RB who could split time with Deuce all season. If I'd remembered this, I probably bite the bullet and go with JJ.

And there's another big issue with both of them -- age.
