Interesting that you have the same players in the top 12. The reason I posted this, a few friends and I have argued about next year's top 12 based on what has happened so far this year and some have called me crazy for keeping Ray Rice, Ronnie Brown, Benson, and Turner so high in the first round. I think it is perfectly reasonable. I thought it would be interesting to discuss it in the shark pool with other sharp fantasy guys.

Wow - is Hightower getting cut in the offseason, Warner losing his job, or Beanie taking over the job soon? I'm not anti-Wells by any stretch, I hope your right, but this would take quite a lot to happen in order to materialize.

Wells should be the primary ball carrier next year and I think he starts lighting it up towards the end of this year. I'm sure many will scoff at that ranking but there has to be some wild cards.

Interesting to see two rookies make the top 12. It would be really awesome to see two more premiere backs in the league. I guess there is no reason why Beanie and Moreno won't bust out great second halves. Addai was a top ten pick his sophmore season.

Brees#1.

There are 30 different RBs any given week that can do great. And another 5-10 that can do good enough.

Fill up the rest of the positions with stars.

He strikes me as someone you could get in rounds 3-4 who could ultimately finish in the top 12, but not as someone you should draft in the top 12. My list would be:1. MJD2. Peterson3. Rice4. CJ5. Jackson6. Gore7. DWill8. Ronnie9. Fitzgerald10. A. Johnson11. Wayne12. ManningDepending on scoring system I might take one of the QBs or WRs in the top 6. You can make a case for Brees over Manning. I like Manning because he's totally reliable.

The bolded portion is what is critical to him being drafted that high. I think Wells will have a huge 1011 regardless of what he does this year. If he lights things up over the 2nd half though he will be drafted as such. If he doesn't then yeah, he is a 3rd 4th rounder.

Mendenhall might make my top 12... other than that, nothing to add.

ETA: Also possibly Forte over some of the WRs. At the end of the day he's still the only RB getting carries on the team (rare these days) and he'll always have Detroit on the schedule twice a year.

30 RBs? No. There are about 5 or 6 right now that can be called "difference makers" over the course of a season. And if you start two of them (or even a third in Flex) that MORE than makes up for the difference between starting one Brees compared to Palmer/Flacco/whoever.The guy who went 1-Brees/2-Colston in my money league is in 8th place.I think this is a good start:1. Adrian Peterson2. Maurice Jones Drew3. Chris Johnson4. Ray Rice I'll have to wait and see how Ronnie, DWill, Benson and those kind of guys finish out this year.

I like this list for most part except I would swap ADP and MJD. ADP still clear cut #1 for me. Seeing so many people rank Turner so high and especially ahead of SJAX is mind boggling.

I have no problem having Rice, Brown and Turner in the top 12 but I doubt Benson will be taken that high in many leagues. He might be a great value but the name still reeks of bust too much for most owners.

I know Ray Rice has really been putting up points but do you folks feel he is special? I know Steven Jackson would be #1 or #2 if he were on a good team, but my opinion is that good players will eventually get it done and average guys will regress and so forth. Most people wrote off Cedric Benson because his line was awful. Now his middle of the road talent is looking good (BTW, middle of the road is not a bad thing for a starting RB). DeAngelo Williams was behind a terrible line for awhile and then they worked on the line and he is great. Just asking because I have seen what MJD can do and Rice is not MJD IMO (and this is form a NJ guy who watched Rice and liked him). Just asking for a sniff test on him.

The guy in my 12 team redraft league that chose Brees with his 1st round pick is 6-2 and leads in total points.

I do. He's so versatile. He's a great receiver, he's fast enough to bounce it to the outside, but he's also tough enough to carry it between the tackles. His low center of gravity makes him tough to take down. He's MJD-like and he's still improving.
Do the keys "L" and "T" not work on any of your keyboards? :blackdot:
Did you travel back in time to type this?

cant believe that of all the quarterbacks mentioned, last years number 2 and this years number 1 qb still hasnt popped up.

aaron rodgers continues to get NO respect

Neither Ray Rice or Ced Benson will be hitting my first round radar. Chris Johnson and SJax will have to have strong ends to the season in order for me to take them in the bottom part (8-12) of the first round aswell. I think Peirre Thomas will get some serious consideration from me, aslong as he contiues to stay healthy and be productive weekly. Desean Jackson has to be one of the players that gets the biggest bump from this years production, dont think he'll be a first rounder in 2010, but wouldn't be suprised if the end of season stats shows he should've been there.

great list. switch deangelo and turner, then swap out ronnie for randy moss and it would be my list exactly

So something I've come to consider more this year, especially at RB, is the caliber of a player's team. Before I was of the "if he's talented, he'll pull through" mindset, which certainly still applies. However, as a DWilly and CJ owner this year, there have been so many times when their teams just fall behind early and I know they're going to get no more than 5-7 carries the rest of the game. At the end of the season, their points will still be there, but it's really difficult to rely on them on a week to week basis. Thankfully Carolina is at least hovering around mediocre, but man do I cringe when I see the Titans go against even an average offensive team. For that reason I'd bump down MJD and CJ.

Agreed Shirtless but very difficult to bump those two guys down even with their team's offensive struggles. I think a team's offensive philosophy and offensive line must be taken into account which I think accounts for the great success Thomas Jones and Ray Rice are having this year. How about Thomas Jones next year? I only expect improvement for the Jets offense next year as Sanchez improves and Braylon gets more settled into the sysem. I wonder if TJ can continue his success or will Shonne and Leon become the 1-2 punch.
