Fitzgerald calling out Floyd via Twitter (1 Viewer)

On the plus side, apparently Floyd is working with Larry Fitzgerald between allowable team offseason stuff. On the other hand, sounds like he may not be all that dedicated to it:

Just finished a great workout with @Wellefast. I'm charging @MichaelMFloyd with a DWI "don't want it" he missed a 3rd straight workout 2day. -- Larry Fitzgerald

Wow, that's pretty heavy. Talk about making a bad first impression. Floyd has BMW written all over him.

Ouch. Fitz is a smart guy. If he thought this was the best way to get through to Floyd....that's not a great sign.

On a positive it looks like ARI will be the perfect landing spot for Floyd. Can't imagine too many other WRs being a better role model/motivator than Mr. Fitz.

Not terribly surprised. Plus, real quick, name the last skill player out of Notre Dame to amount to anything in the NFL.

John Sullivan is turning into a center that might have a pretty good career.

Rudolph isn't so bad either.

Lets not jump to conclusions over a tweet, in the offseason, over 3 workouts
It isnt the only red flag.
You can say that about any player
Some more than others though. I mean it can't be good news when the hardest working WR in the league calls you out publicly and you already have had people questioning your attitude. I don't think it's a bit deal... yet. But it's something to watch.

oof. Fitzgerald for some reason recommended this guy. Maybe he wanted a bum so he wouldn't lose touches.

In our recent rookie draft I was targeting Floyd at 1.07 because I need receiver help, this makes me feel better than Wilson fell to me at 1.07

Where have been those questioning his attitude? This is the first negative I've heard since the draft.

wow... first of all it might not be a huge deal right now but geez it doesn't sound like a good thing for Floyd... On the plus side though it just again makes me feel good about rooting for a guy like Fitz... I love that he called him out publicly... Fitz wants him to be great... He is offering him an opportunity to make himself better by working with a proven commodity... Floyd hasn't stepped up and been there for 3 days (albeit offseason)

Before the draft he had character concerns, you can look them up. Now this. I don't know if it's a big deal, but you can't be happy hearing that Fitz isn't happy with his work ethic so far. I actually like Floyd a lot as a player, but I hope he gets his butt in gear.

Underrated here is how aware he is of what's going on, specifically the DWI language (Justin Blackmon reference anyone?). I'm sure this is just a motivational tactic, I don't think he's trying to piss off Floyd this early. A little public rookie hazing never hurt anyone.

Or a reference to the fact Floyd has a DWI and 2 MIPs

Ever since April?!??!!!?Must have changed.

As a Floyd owner I am glad he has someone who will call him out. Wish I had someone to hold me accountable when I was 21

Not necissarily a bad thing

I trust in Fitz and I'm sure he has a reason for calling him out.

With that being said, Its hard for me to imagine why anyone given the chance to train with Fitz wouldn't. But, I can also see how training with him would also mandate a "push" response. I mean, what 20-21 year old kid is going to step onto the field with arguably the best in the game and instantly be good enough to whereFitz is going to say "We're good to go! Nothing else needed here." There are some top athletes that will give lip service but if you follow Fitz, you know you get the simple cut-to-the-chase truth. he just calls it like it is.

So I don't think this spells disaster for floyd. Probably just Fitz's way of saying "you have to want it EVERY day young man. He would probably be saying the same thing to any other rookie there is this year. He would have said it to Brandon Marshall or Dwayne Bowe, or Stevie Johnson. That doesn't mean they are occasionally better than most, just means they aren't Fitz..but who is?

One of the beat writers (I can't remember if it was Somers or not) recently said that the coaches have made it clear they have no intention of rushing Floyd into the lineup, and that they're very comfortable with Roberts and Doucet as the 2/3. That seemed like pure rhetoric to me at the time (and it might still be), but this wouldn't be the first time a rookie came into the league needing to earn his stripes over veterans that we in the fantasy community didn't view as threats to the rook's playing time (only to be proven wrong as the season progressed).

This comes on the heels of new blurbs that he is not running with the 1s at all, and sits firmly behind Fitz, Roberts, and Doucet on the DC, and comments from Kent Sommers that we might see very little of Mr. Floyd this year.Sounds like he has an uphill battle, which doesn't mix well with a lackadaisical work ethic that Fitz is alluding to. Right now he's reminding me a lot of Dwayne Jarrett.

Complete overreaction ITT, and I don't even have Floyd on any teams. This is a total non-story.

I know there were character concerns...over his drinking. And he was forthright and open about those issues in the team interviews. Being a diva or lazy were not concerns for him. And, IIRC, his coaches noted his hard work at the early team activities.Fitz runs a voluntary, private camp. Is Blackmon there? Or is he keeping the beer cold in the back of his car out in the parking lot?So what is the significance of Fitz's call out? That he likes Floyd A LOT and has him under his wing and is expecting him to contribute sooner rather than later. In a perfect world, as a Floyd owner, I'd rather have him there the past few days. But warning signs? Not hardly. This is just big brother staying on top of it.

While this is true, I don't see it as related to the camp issue. I think it's more of the coaches not wanting to anoint a kid, particularly in the press, when there are veterans who have already paid their dues. This is from two weeks ago: (Rotoworld) Larry Fitzgerald says first-round pick Michael Floyd impressed him during Cardinals OTAs and minicamp. "He really looked good in our Saturday practice out at the stadium making a couple of plays," Fitzgerald observed. "He consistently catches the ball. He's strong and physical at the line of scrimmage. He's an intelligent young man. He's really picking up and grasping things. Coach [Mike] Miller will tell him one thing one time in a meeting, and the next day you see him apply on the field."

From a month ago: (Rotoworld) Coach Ken Whisenhunt had praise for Michael Floyd's work ethic after the Cardinals' minicamp. Analysis: Floyd has done nothing to discourage the Cardinals' staff since they took him No. 13 overall. "He's worked hard," Whisenhunt said. "That's one of the things we liked about him."

Character concerns? They aren't all equal. Not directed at Jason Wood, but a lot of the noise in this thread is coming from people who've heard "character concerns" and had no idea what they really were. Was Floyd an angel in college? No. But we can do a little better than hearing something as vague as "character concerns" and jumping to the much more particular conclusion that he lacks work ethic or drive. Geez.
