I haven't read anything in this thread yet. Just wanted to go on record that I refuse to eat at 5 Guys because it is befuddling that they do not sell milkshakes. When one opened near us we heard all the hype so went to check it out. We checked out the menu and saw no milkshakes. Then we asked to make sure.
How can you be a burger and fries joint and not sell milkshakes? That's like opening a BBQ joint and not offering mac and cheese.
You go to a burger joint to eat burgers not ice cream. You're completely off base here.FWI: real BBQ places don't serve mac and cheese, where the hell are you from?
Burger, fries and a milkshake. That's been an all-American classic combo for 50+ years, ya pinko!FYI: I'm not talking about "Famous Dave's," ya Yankee!
Actually it's a Coke not milkshake but either way it doesn't matter. You're definitely a Yankee if you walk into some of the best BBQ places in the world that doesn't sell mac and cheese and downgrade them for it. You go to BBQ place for the BBQ not sides, go to a Steak joint for the STEAM so seriously, go to your local ice cream shop if that's as important as the quality of a burger shop.
You need to let Bobby Flay know there's a typo in his
book. You don't go to 5 guys for the ketchup, right? Or to a steakhouse for the baked potato? But if they didn't provide it then it's a big knock on them and the experience they are creating for the customer.
Not having the right compliments to your main dish is a big mistake for any restaurant. Burgers widely go hand-in-hand with fries and a milkshake. Neglecting to at least offer a simple vanilla, chocolate and black & white affects my dining experience, no matter how good the burgers might be.
And if you're living in a world where a rack of ribs, smoked turkey leg or a pulled-pork sandwich is served without freshly baked mac and cheese (as well as some greens), then I don't ever want to visit.
