Five Guys thread, a 130+ page swordfight. (3 Viewers)

I have been to five guys a couple of times and was yelled at both times upon entering. Terrible schtick.

I have never seen any peanuts there however.

I've seen more than a few bars that have a popcorn popper where you can serve yourself. It's not on the menu or anything. They just give you some tasty snack food to enjoy while you are visiting the establishment.
They do that so you get thirsty and buy another $8 gin/tonic. Offering peanuts/popcorn at a fast-food joint that doesn't offer alcohol makes little sense.

who cares if it makes sense? it's their signature. McDonalds has the Golden Arches and toys in happy meals while Five Guys has free peanuts.
Ronald doesn't offer you to snack on the Golden Arches while he's stacking up your hotcakes though.

The only thing that makes less sense than FG's peanuts shtick is Dominos offering cheesy bread as an appetizer. "What would people love to munch on before they eat the pizza? Oh, I know, bread with cheese on it."

Why would I eat a burger at a large national chain that is available everywhere when I can go to the fancy restaurant down the street during a specific 2-hour period on a weekday and order myself a $5 burger made of grass-fed beef with fancy cheese on an artisinal bun? What is wrong with you people? [/GM]

Pretty much any pizza place, chain or otherwise, has cheese sticks/cheese bread.

Not this one.

Clerk: Welcome to Five Car Rental Guys. May i help you?

Customer: Yes, I'd like to rent an SUV for a trip to Vegas.

Clerk: No problem. We're cleaning and gassing up your SUV now, it should be ready in 30 minutes. In the mean time please begin your trip using this Vespa scooter. No charge.
:lmao:

According to Yelp, the Five Guys in San Diego do have peanuts. When I was in there, I guess everybody just had the good sense to leave them alone. I swear I didn't see any evidence of peanuts anywhere.

I'm going to be in the area of the PB one tonight. I'll pop in there specifically to look for peanuts so I can report back.

It's so fatties can pretend they didn't eat as much pizza as they really did.

Double meat hamburger, lettuce, tomato, pickles, fresh jalapeño, mushrooms and hot sauce! Add a side of non-Cajun fries and it's one of my favorite meals! A bit pricey but sooo worth it.

ETA: and plenty of peanuts before, during and after the meal!

Getting fries with no salt on them drives me nuts (looking at you, chickfila, with your waffle fries). Wendys does a great job with salting their fries.
Quit bring up Wendy's you fools! The parking lots are always empty for a reason. It's freaking terrible. If anyone likes Wendy's over Five Guys, you should be shipped to Sochi and forced to mess up one of the lights during the closing ceremony.

It's like ordering a pizza to go and while you're waiting they offer you free unlimited deviled eggs. It's just ####### weird. Couple that with the all the yelling and it's like The Shining of burger joints. Scary place.
What if they had fresh avocado slices they were giving out for free and you hadn't had a quality undetected BM in weeks - what then?

I have been to many 5 guys here in the DC area and have never been yelled at upon entering. And these are part of the original locations so not sure how this yelling thing got adopted.

So let me get this straight. Some of you are #####ing because they have free peanuts and some are #####ing because they let you drop them on the floor?

I love peanuts(free is even better)and don't really care if I step in them since I'm not eating my burger on the floor.

Okay, the PB Five Guys does have peanuts, but it's easy to miss them. There is a wall of red-and-white potato sacks stacked up next to each other, and beside them there is a red-and-white box of peanuts that kind of blends in. People are free to take them, but zero people when I stopped in actually did so.

Did you eat the burger or fries? It seems like all the west coast posters dislike FG...

I like Five Guys, but I didn't eat there last night. I just went there to investigate the peanut situation.

how long did you stick around to observe the peanut eating behavior if you weren't actually dining there?

did they yell "ONE IN THE DOOR!" and then cry when you walked right out after confirming that they did indeed have boxes of peanuts available?

Cry? They probably stared at each other until one said "that was not in the training video."

Still yet to hear that.

I've never had anyone yell at me when entering and I've eaten at 10 or 12 FG.

I don't dislike them, it's a very tasty burger and inconsistent fries (you'll always get some good ones but more of them seem to be mushy an not worth eating) I just think that they are overpriced and I can get a, IMHO, better product (again IMHO) for about half the price at In-N-Out.

What the pro-peanut crowd doesn't understand is that you're paying for those peanuts whether they're free or not. Maybe a burger and fries wouldn't cost 13 and change of they ditched the free nuts. I'm going to open a sandwich place and give away free beef jerky. It'll be the best $17 sandwich you've ever had.

I love the people falling for the extra scoop of fries shtick as well. Hey Einstein, you're not getting extra fries. They just made the container small. Of course you get a ton. Look what you're paying for them.

So I had to have Five Guys today, just craving it...

I was eating close to the register and the cashier turned to the staff doing the burgers and fries and says "3 in the door"... Didn't say it to the customer, just a heads up to the staff.

Does your Five Guys really charge you $13 for a burger and fries, or is that shtick?
