Five Guys thread, a 130+ page swordfight. (1 Viewer)

I went to 5G's tire shop over the weekend to get some new winter tires for my A5. Sure I spent $2400, but I walked out of there with 12 tires.

Sometimes you have to spend a little more to get a little more.
There's a new coffee shop competing with Starbucks down the street. Their regular size coffee costs twice as much as a Starbucks grande, but you could serve two to three people coffee from one regular.

If you buy regular fries by yourself and complain about the price, then make sure you list the 2 cheeseburgers and 3 fries you fatties get at In and Out to compare.
Sorry, but have to  at anyone talking about getting their family dinner at 5G calling other people "fatties." I'm sure you and your family are all Slim Jims with those dietary habits.
LOL, we don't go there much at all and when we do, the kids eat more peanuts than fries. There's a huge difference between going there after a game or instead of going to a restaurant on a Saturday night than 5G being our "family dinner" as we try to eat at home as much as possible. To be honest, I am pretty sure the peanuts are why my boys like going there more than anything else. Many times, my youngest two don't even eat a single fry, but I will stand by my fatty statement. If you are alone and can eat a whole regular fry order then you have a huge appetite.I will agree with you a bit, there are usually some people in there when we go where you think to yourself that 5G really isn't the best place for them to be.
There are very few restaurants that you will not find someone who shouldn't be eating what they are.

Enough with the "we split the fries" shtick. Why not split the burger too? How about 2 straws 1 cup? You can split anything if you want. You're not even getting that many fries. They just made the container about 1/3rd of the size it should be. It'd be like a girl wearing an A cup bra to make her chest look massive. Those breast are not that big. You've been duped. If you're going out and splitting orders of fries you shouldn't be there to begin with. You should be home separating the 2-ply toilet paper so you can get double the amount.

The one near me just cut most of the staff. Buddy walked in and said only one guy was working up front. He ordered the regular burger and the guy taking his order turned to his left and yelled "put two patties on!" then the same guy turned to his right and yelled "got it!". Guy was yelling to himself. Then when he finished at the register the same guy hustled over and cooked the order. My buddy asked what would happen if another customer came in and the guy just started laughing. Buddy said there was a cover over the peanuts that you had to reach through to get the scooper. When you pulled it out with your peanuts the cover was designed to knock most of them off the scoop. Said it was tough to get more than a few nuts at a time.

I stopped right here... Between you and Politician Spock, you'd think the founder of FG murdered a family member.

Does it really need to be explained why splitting the fries is a good idea and splitting a burger is not?

I think we can all agree FG has by far the best beverage selection?

ETA: We aren't talking dessert or shakes. Just drinks to go alongside your burger and fries.

They carry Coke products. Like McDonalds does.
I think he's talking about the magic machine, like this: http://s3-media1.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/MGbsQj6FU-Jv6V4hVg31Vw/l.jpg

I haven't been inside a McD's in a long time (I'm no snob, just a drive thru guy). They don't have those do they?

I haven't been to McDowells in a while, do they have Gold Peak Iced Tea?

The machine is an added bonus.

Couples can't split fries? We're not all bachelors going out for burgers with our bros here.

Ok so as I mentioned my lunch buddy wanted 5 guys today. These kids today all they like are hamburgers and pizza. Nothing wrong with either of course but branch out.

Here we go:

1) We walked in and didn't not get yelled at unlike the uptown location. They did yell back our order which is silly but still not as bad as the two in thing.

2) They were prepared for a total peanut embargo or something. Cases of them.

3) Young lady I was with got the small fry which we "split" but we did throw most of them away, as I said just a waste.

4) So my order was a double bacon cheeseburger and a small drink, just under 11.00. The burger wasn't bad but it wasn't twice as good as other burgers that cost around half as much.

5) I have seen a lot of complaints about how slow In-N-Out is, Don't know, never been there. But it did take 12 minutes to get my order and they weren't all that busy.

You are crazy

If In N Out didn't exist, this thread would have been lucky to go 5 pages. my live would be a lot easier.
The In N Out by my house makes going to that shopping center a big pain in the ###. It's just a burger, nerds. Settle down.
You hitting Carl's today?
Nah. Pretty much cut fast food down to maybe once a month. But the last time I binged it was Carl's Jr.

I did go to In N Out over Xmas break. Very good but still don't believe it's good enough to justify the hype or the wait.

I think some do, recent remodels, but I don't hit McD's very often so take it for it's worth. I know lots of places have them though.

Aside from the obvious splitting the fries since its a large amount - if youre also getting a burger - if you go by yourself and get the fries, there is no law you need to eat all the fries or throw the leftovers away. There's been a few times where I just save half of the order of fries and take em home, throw them in the oven later that night or the next day and theyre still tasty.

No. McDowell's has Silver Mountain Top Iced Tea.

Okay not only do you need to steal to get your meal under $10 but now you need to bring a small Mexican family with you to help average out the cost of the fries.

Got it.

You can split anything you want. I'm just saying sharing food is not a selling point.

Ordering a small fries doesn't make you less of a man.

I don't even know what this means.

The Hardees(Carls Jr)here by my house is quite possibly the worst fast food restaurant in the area.

Got a Thickburger last time I went in and it was brutal as were the fries.

Not a Hardees fan.

Of their food. The commercials are another thing.

Is this 5 Guys or Hogwarts?

I love how the 5G supporters confuse overpriced and poor value with "5 Guys sucks!"
I love out In N Out people still don't realize that they are not an option for most of America.McDonalds is great value too. Doesn't make it a better option than 5G.

Split everything just don't tell me that's why the place is great.
When people order way more food than they need and complain about the price, it gets tiresome since there's an option to order less for a lower cost.
If you order the small it is still over 2 dollars. It is still a bunch of fries dumped in the bag. I was just there not an hour ago. We threw away fries and there were two of us "splitting" them. It is still an expensive waste

I know we have a few Virginia peeps here so has anybody been to the Jakes Wayward Burgers in Ashburn yet?

Will be in the area next week and wanted to give it a try if anybody liked what they serve.

Are the anti FG posters really a shtick?

Are they sitting behind their computers right now eating peanuts, with a huge greasy bag of fries, double cheese, & Gold Peak Iced Tea cracking up for the last 12 pages?

Not sure what you mean.

I like the food well enough but not for the price. Is that anti-5G?
